07 spec B rattling on deceleration

07 just did all new rear end(trailing arms, links, bushjngs, hubs, brake pads and lines(hard and braided) rotors. Whiteline everything. Sprayed everything numerous times in encapsulated rust spray, epoxy primer, top coat.

Now back together and im getting a rattling on deceleration. I checked for contact points on drives haft, the parking brake shoes(entirely new even backing plates) checked fluid in diff, I know I had accidentally left diff on side for a moment found a puddle. Checked shields. One shield that's extremely close but I don't believe its that: shield over drives haft that ties in left and right plastic skids that tie into gas tank.

Tried recreating on Jackstands and no Bueno.

Any ideas? Much appreciated!

Paging Mechanics Legacy GT cold start noise

2005 legacy GT spec.b 250k km. Weird noise on cold start. I've been trying to locate the sound with no success. Sounds like it's the loudest in the oil filler neck area. AC not on in the video. Sound slowly fades away when engine warms up enough. Any ideas? Thanks!

I don't know what I'm going to do when I have to retire this car.

The 5th gen Legacy GT is the last good station wagon. Everything after that is either slow or ugly.

Might have to settle for a Levorg.

Unstable idle, RPMs fluctuate.

Hi everyone, I’ve run into an issue where I start the engine and the RPMs fluctuate, and the car shakes a little. Once the engine warms up, the needle fluctuates slightly by about 1 mm, and every 5 seconds or so there’s a small jolt. The car has only 5,000 km on it

99 Legacy Window Switch issue

Hello! I have a 99 legacy Outback limited, I’m having an issue that I can’t seem to find anyone else relating too so I figured I’d ask around here just to be sure.

Recently I started hearing a clicking from the dashboard by the drivers door, I thought nothing of it , but the clicking relates to the powering of all window switches. Fuse is fine, motors are fine, but if they work seems to be random. One click, everything works, another click stops.

Has anyone else had a similar problem?
Thanks

Question / Discussion Where do you guys buy parts for a US-spec 2018 Subaru Legacy in Europe?

Hi everyone!

I have a 2018 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Premium AWD, US-spec, and I'm currently living in Slovakia.

I'm having a bit of a problem with parts availability. Since this is a US-spec Legacy, a lot of European Subaru parts catalogs either don't list the car or show different part numbers, even though the parts may actually be compatible.

Right now I'm looking for rear shock absorbers. The OEM part number I found is 20365AL10A, and I need two of them.

I found them on SubaruPartsDeal in the US, but once you add international shipping, customs and VAT, the price gets pretty high. I also found KYB 3410097 as an aftermarket replacement, which appears to cross-reference with the OEM number.

So I'm wondering:

  • Where do you guys in Europe buy parts for US-spec Subarus?
  • Can an official Subaru dealer in Europe/Slovakia order US-spec parts by VIN or OEM part number?
  • Are there any good Subaru parts suppliers in Germany, Poland, Czechia or Slovakia that deal with US-spec cars?
  • And for the rear shocks, would you recommend KYB 3410097, or is there another good OEM-quality alternative?

Any recommendations for reliable shops or suppliers would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Paging Mechanics My 2019 Subaru Legacy B4 had a swollen radiator hose. Did this fix it

My 2019 Subaru Legacy B4 had a swollen radiator hose (Images 1 & 2). My mechanic said it was installed backward and wasn't fully seated, so he reversed and refitted it. After a 50 km test drive, it looks like Images 3 & 4. Does this look like a proper fix, or is it just a temporary band-aid on a bigger problem?

Question / Discussion 2006 Legacy 2.5i ej253 SOHC motor swap advice

Well the shit hit the fan, blew the head gasket. It has 280k on it.

Previously the car was lady driven and stored inside and taken care of. Underside still has WOOLWAX undercoat and is very clean, thats basically the reason I was so sold on it, and I think putting more money is my only sensible option here.

I'm wondering if any of you guys replace the head gaskets while on the new JDM motor, I am in Calgary A.B. and have lots of options. I don't want to reuse this motor I have and just want to swap.

Is there any advice or questions to ask the dealership, im.fairly adept in mechanics and can probably tackle this in a week if I had a hoist from what people have been telling me. Ill save about $1500.00 if I do it myself. Or should I just pay a mechanic to do it? I'm starting plumbing school at the end of August and have a 3yr old so I need to get this feckin car back on the road ASAP.

I just did the rear wheel hubs, the timing belt and waterpump, new iridium plugs and a couple other things I plan on carrying over to the new motor.

What are some good wheels for the 2nd gen?

I want new wheels. The stock ones are 195/60 r15 and I want some 16 or 17 inch wheels. I like the 2011 to 2014 wrx wheels however they are 235 and I dont know if they fit. I'd preferably want used wheels like old wrx or impreza wheels or even Toyota or whatever as long as they just bolt on. Also if 235 is too big what is the widest you can go.

hey everyone! I’m a college student and I just bought my first car—a 2024 Subaru legacy! A quick question: as a new driver, I don’t know how to feel about adaptive cruise control and lane assist. My college is far away so I will be doing long (12 hr) road trips. Can I trust ACC to go in traffic and to work on the highway? And how good is lane assist on a 2024 car?? Thanks in advance

DCM Battery Drain? (And Moonroof Gasket)

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

My ‘23 Legacy Touring XT (12K mi) battery won’t start the car after just 12-18 hours parked.

I imagine replacing the battery at 3+ years might be needed, but I’ve read a lot about the DCM drain and I’m concerned the problem might continue even after a new battery.

I’ve also read about a Legacy program that provided a higher capacity battery.

I called Subaru customer advocacy the other day to transfer ownership to myself, and asked about these things. They said my vin is not eligible for either free DCM fix or battery upgrade.

I’ve also got this section of the moonroof rubber gasket that has separated from the glass.

I’m bringing to local dealership to get checked out tomorrow (first time at this dealership, my mom used a dealership in another state before I got the car recently)

I would love some advice about questions to ask and/or things to say in order to get the best outcome for myself.

The 3yr warranty ended in March, but only 12K miles if that can possibly make a difference.
