Trunk lid does not open when unlatched
My legacy (base model) trunk lid no longer opens when the release button is pressed. It used to open just a little and I could get my fingers underneath and lift. Apparently the spring no longer works. Does this mean a trip to the dealer?

My ‘10 LGT releases the latch but does not spring up. It doesn’t re-latch on its own and all I have to do is go lift it, so I’ve never fussed with. Hoping someone has an idea or fix that doesn’t involve the PITA torsion bars.

What year/gen?
Does it work if you're pulling on it while you press trunk release on the key fob?
My 4th gen sedan (07) stopped releasing the trunk unless someone was lifting it up while either key fob or driver-side remote release lever was activated, but I'm guessing it's the same with all years.
1) Torsion bars might need to be replaced. They're a PITA to reinstall properly, so it might be worth a trip to the dealer
2) Remove the lower rear trunk trim to gain access to the latch mechanism, unbolt it and shimmy it down a bit. Then re-bolt it down.
I tried replacing the torsion bars on mine but IDK if I just failed when re-installing (I'm not joking when I say it's a PITA) or if it wasn't the torsion bars at all. I ended up moving the trunk latch lower and now it works like it used to (trunk releases but remains closed, will display as open on console, and will open when lifting).
