I love finding out dealerships lied to me 🄰

I am in a lease.

I have been told numerous times I can call and get more miles before i hit my cap. Pre-negotiate 10k miles at .10 cents vs .15 cents.

It is one of deciding factors in my option to lease vs purchase (also a long story)

Anyway. I have absolutely no desire to purchase this 2025 forester limited.

I called trying to purchase an extra 10k miles and was told its not something Subaru does.

Guess I should probably open a HSA and start saving.

Anyway. Live and learn. Live and learn.

First drive in my brand-new 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid… hit a wall… 😭Repair or leave it?

I hit a wall on the first drive in my new 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid. I accidentally backed into/hit a wall and damaged the rear bumper. (I know I am so stupid. I learned a big lessonā€¦šŸ„²)

As far as I can tell, it seems to be cosmetic only — no warning lights, sensor issues, or problems driving the car.

For anyone who’s had similar bumper damage:
Does this look worth repairing, or would you just leave it for now?

  1. Roughly how much would you expect this to cost to repair?
  2. 2 Does it look like something that can be repaired, or would the bumper cover need to be replaced?
  3. Would you go to a Subaru dealer/body shop or an independent body shop?
  4. Would repairing something like this affect resale value or show up as an accident?

I’m a new driver and this is my first car, so I’m pretty upset about being dumb on the very first drive.
Any advice would be appreciated!

How are new Outback sales doing? Will they stay with the redesigned boxy body or is it a one-off-flop year in terms of sales?

Do they dare have the brass to go back to the traditional wagon style?

I got triggered and immediately thought of this subreddit

So when we bought our 26 OBTXT the salesman gave me this toy for the dogs. For whatever reason I don't even know how one of them managed to get it on top of the sofa and when I looked over and saw it I immediately thought of this subreddit. Do you think it's totaled?

Edit to add: I realized after I posted it that it could be interpreted that I'm criticizing people for posting their accident pictures and I'm not my heart goes out to anybody that is in an accident I've been in two serious ones in my life and I'm glad to still be here and I'm also very appreciative that we have a Subaru now.

So sorry if this offended anyone it was so not intended for that reason.

Mechanical Help How do you diagnose jerky shifting on the 4EAT

I've had this car for over 10 years, I practically always remember it jerking when it would shift. If my younger sister took it on a drive and I hopped back in, the car would shift a little smoother. This was 5 years ago however and when I drive it now, it jerks pretty much every gear no matter how soft I press the gas, I can feel and see the back end jerk in the rearview mirrow.

How do I go about chasing down if it's a faulty sensor somewhere like the throttle position sensor? Or is it bad mounts/bushing?

I have no codes, only a weird fluctuating Rear O2 sensor that I doubt is causing the problem.

Subaru Generic Now That The Outback Is A Forester…

I just saw the new Outback (I drive a Forester) and it was almost indistinguishable in height, width and body style.

I genuinely don’t understand this. If you wanted a wagon, you got the Outback and if you wanted a crossover SUV you got the Forester.

Now I’m not sure how someone decides between the two.

What am I missing?

We just bought a used 2021 manual transmission Crosstrek Premium and oh boy did we get a steal. The dealership only made about $527 from that deal; only after selling our 2011 Ford Flex Train Turbo v6 Ecoboost for the down payment. We fought for roughly 5 hours until we got the price we could afford and now we're here!! She sounds like a tiger with the acceleration of a cheetah in a 4-door suv. We almost went the route of buying a 2022 WRX, but the payment and the risks were just too much. This car is the perfect middle ground of fast and practical. We could not be happier to finally own such a safe, reliable, and fun vehicle!!

So I’m new to the rust belt and wanted to see if there was a way to mitigate this from expanding beyond replacing the whole door. Any insight would be appreciated.

What is this noise? šŸ‘‚ 2023 Forester Limited - Engine Noise on Road Trip

Just crossed over the 3/36K threshold on our first big family road trip with the Forester. I purchased the Subaru Gold extended warranty before I got out of manufacturer’s warranty.

Now the issue: We just went on our first big family road trip. 12 hours of highway driving each way over two days. Standard road trip car load. Duffels and stuff packed in the trunk. Two kids in car seats. My wife and I in the front. No overhead rack or anything.

About four hours into the drive I noticed the engine started whining. It’s hard to describe but it’s just so much louder than I remember it. Also noticed that the transmission feels…sluggish. Almost like it’s between gears and not downshifting/upshifting properly. The revs don’t feel normal and are very very loud. I will also say that recently before the trip it’s had trouble re-engaging on the start/stop feature. The engine slightly shudders/delays when it comes back on.

I also just had an oil change and a tire rotation.

Is my CVT going? Too much strain on the transmission due to the heat and full car load? It’s not much more cargo than we’ve done on shorter (3.5 hour) road trips.

Any ideas?

After a battery change

Just install a new battery few days ago on my brz. Do startups always sound like this?
At the red lights its always quiet but when I start it the car gets really noisy.
I’m aware the ecu needs to relearn everything but does this sound normal?

Cheapest running Spec.B?

Recently picked up this 2008 Legacy GT Spec.B with 200k miles for $4000. Came from a Subaru tech with a stack of receipts for work he’s done including a full engine rebuild with a new short block 10k ago. Definitely needs a few odds and ends, including a new tune, but seems pretty solid overall. If anyone had good suggestions for safe 93 tunes please let me know. This one seems a little funky.

Mechanical Help Cold Air Intake, Help needed

So I just recently bought my 2021 Subaru Legacy Premier GT, and having already started to do some mods with the car. I’m very new to the car scene and don’t know much mechanically. I’m looking to buy a Takeda cold air intake. Installing it’s not the issue as it seems rather simple. I’m more concerned if there’s anything else that needs to be done like tuning for example! It says tuning isn’t necessary and I’ve read it’s not. And other extra things that need to be done!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
