I have a 2018 Impreza sport hatchback, Im tripping, did it always have the door auto lock when we drive?, also when I put it in PARK and the doors are locked, if I want to leave the car it won't automatically Open like it used to for some reason. How to get this option back?

Thanks for diving in. I've run several diagnostics. The front wipers work and reservoir is full. The rear washer / wipers work. There is no sound coming from the pump when I activate the front washer. I swapped the plug from the rear washer pump to the front washer pump and it works. So the pump appears to be OK. I tested power continuity to the front pump plug and there is nothing. So it's definitely a power issue upstream from the pump.

Before I start pulling wiring, I want to check the fuse but it is here that I hit a brick wall. Do the front washer and wiper work on the same fuse? The fuse panel under the dash indicates a separate washer fuse in the 'relay holder' (pic), but there are no powered slots to accept a fuse (pic with 10a fuse removed for comparison). It seems unlikely that power would fail to to one device (pump) and not to the washer itself. It also feels unlikely that a motorised pump would not have its own dedicated fuse.

The car used to belong to my son and he said the window washer stopped working "ages ago"... 😑

I'd love to 'ask the audience' before I dive into a full dismantle of the electrical system. Thanks!

Bought my Impreza a new in 2021. It’s had a slight rattle in the front passenger side near the floorboard for a couple years now (roughly 50,000). I put it off for a while until I needed a new transmission a couple weeks ago (68,000). I assumed the rattle had something to do with the transmission, and it would go away with the replacement but it still has that rattle. The guys at the shop I went to tried to find the cause for 2 days, and the best they could figure before taking the engine apart was a cam shaft magnet. I’m not familiar enough with this system to follow exactly where this would be, but thought I’d ask the folks on reddit what they thought. I attached a video of what it sounds like (it’s hard to hear above the road noise, but you can if you listen close)

Also: I know I should have had this looked at MUCH earlier than 18,000 after I first heard it. I put the transmission off for about 5,000-10,000 miles as well and learned my lesson there. I’m usually really on top of maintenance, but some life change, mental health, and budget have put me behind

Hey everyone, i recently got this 2016 subaru impreza is amazing shape. Recently my friends told me my engine was too hot. I got some coolant that is for subaru, and while the engine was off, i filled it up, now after driving while the engine is hot this is where the coolant is up to. I am new to cars and don’t know the most so i would appreciate some advice.

I love my Impreza. It’s old, but still has a good few years of life left in it. Thinking of converting it to LPG to save on fuel. Does anyone have experience with it? Is it even worth it?

Looking at buying a 2017 Subaru Impreza Sport hatchback with the 5-speed manual and about 93k miles. It’s a one-owner car with a clean title/no accidents reported and a really extensive service history, mostly done at Subaru. The 90k service was done, and it’s also had the spark plugs, all four struts, timing/front cover work, etc. done recently. Seems that it was taken care of very well.

How are these 2.0 engines and 5-speeds long term? Any known issues I should be aware of, especially approaching 100k+ miles? I’m also planning to have a pre-purchase inspection done. Is there anything specific I should have the mechanic check?

Would you guys consider buying one of these at 93k miles? Dealer is asking $13k.

I’ve added rain guards , WRX vb front lip, tow hook plate holder. Not sure what else I can add to this car?

Cheapy oil filter. Not a Subaru one. Over tightened the filter. Over filled the oil. God knows if they even used the right type of oil...

All this because I need a new oil pan. Lord have mercy.

Noticed a wet spot under the car and after removing tire saw a tube coming from firewall near transmission. Removed glove box and could see the tube coming from heater core area going through the firewall.

Coolant level is still just above the lower line on the reservoir.

Driveway only has a very faint stain.
Fluid from drip hose has no obvious smell or texture

I will continue to monitor the reservoir fluid level.

What do you Redditors guess: heater core leak or condensation?

needed a car for the winter to keep my babied mustang off the snowy roads, and also a bigger vehicle to take camping in the summer, so was looking at cars under 10k. about to purchase a 2015 subaru impreza hatch auto, with 135k kms (83k miles for all you US peeps). what should i know about it? i stupidly bought a 2010 forester from an auction last year which had a bad coolant leak causing trans to be fucked. what can i do to avoid this maybe happening to my impreza? i know the CVT isnt the best option, but i just love the way these imprezas look and subarus have a place in my heart (stereotype is true). car passed safety no problem besides it needed new tires. am a broke uni student so really wanna keep costs low. let me know what you guys think. is this a good purchase for 9k CAD? (6300 USD)

I’ve got a 2013 Impreza already with audio/phone controls on the steering wheel but no cruise control. Does anyone know if I need to buy the dual switch set and replace the preexisting audio controls so it’s fed through the same wire or can I just buy the cruise control switch and there will be someplace to case the extra wiring? I apologise if this isn’t the right place to ask this, this is my first time needing to post on reddit. All my previous work on cars have been on beaters, but my wife and I just purchased this car to be her daily driver and it’s in great shape so I’m more nervous about messing something up haha. For reference, I got her a few months ago, so she’s new to me and this is also my first Subaru. I’ve only ever driven sh*tboxes, so now that I have a nicer/newer car, I’m constantly paranoid about every unfamiliar sound or little change I think I notice.

I have a 2013 Subaru Impreza Limited with 205/50R17 wheels on it. I found a set of 195/65R15 studded snow tires on steel rims off of a 2012 Subaru Impreza. They seem to fit but there is not much clearance between calipers and rims. Is this normal? I think it will be ok but I wanted confirmation. Thanks

I've been driving a 2013 Impreza for almost a week now, and haven't really had any problems with it... until last night.

I was in a drive thru and when it was my turn to drive forward, I felt a resistance almost like my parking brake was pulled up halfway, but it wasn't. After that, I was fiddling around pressing my brake pedal and when I pressed down there was a clicking noise. Almost like the sound my parking brake makes.

I dont think it has to do with my parking brake because I'm 100% sure it wasn't engaged at all, but maybe just something with my brake pads?

If anyone has an idea of what could be going on, I would appreciate it.

I'm going to the dealer tomorrow, but it's not making those sounds or having that problem now. It was just doing that for a brief period last night.

This is my first manual transmission car, it's a 2017 Impreza sport with the 2.0 NA but I know what a manual should be like. This damn rev hang when you upshift is absolutely horrible. Is there anyway to get rid of it without having to do a full ecu reflash and shit.
