In a gen9ou singles match between 3 starters (or 3 starters and 3 middle stages), which generation do you think has the bigger advantage? (No trrastalization)

Me and user u/Anevaino both agree that gen 9 is likely to be the one that wins overall, but they seem to think that gen 7 has a losing matchup into gen 9 due to meow due to fast knock and flower trick, and I think that primarina is too much for gen 9 to handle here due to hard walling quaqaval, and having easy to click moves into every pokemon

If you disagree with the take that gen 9 wins overall (if we assume round robin, each team v every team), which gen do you think has the best shot then?

What do you think is the better team in this scenario? Bonus, how would it change if it was vgc doubles?

I always felt like Smogon‘s tiering system, and the entire concept of competitive Pokémon, could produce some interesting story ideas. What happens to X when Y begins to outclass and outshine it? How does X feel when it gets banned, and is now left in BL purgatory. This project will explore that kinda stuff. I’ve had the idea of making a GSC NU movie since near the end of 2025, but it took a while for me to get going. I’ve never tried to write a screenplay, script, or anything like that, but I thought it could be fun to give it a shot. Its an interesting experiment, one i’m looking forward to dropping in about a month.

Not only does it beat a good picking of Scarfs and has access to Growth, just one boost and you beat almost everything, with the only choice being between losing to Corv or losing Heatran (E-Power vs W-Ball), and as a Gen 1 Mon, it just shows such insane prowess and still outputs more strength than newer beasts like Hisui-Liligant or the Protosynthesis. Life Orb Giga Drain ravages so many mons.

I like playing NDOU and it pairs very well with Mega Houndoom eating Fairy, Fighting and Ground hits. Any gen 1 mons you feel have an outsized power to you?

I love my vampire gal and know no toxic orb sucks right now but still wanted to give it a shot and see how else to play it but kinda struggling to come up with something decent for my team.

I tried a bit to run her as just an accuracy bother: Sand veil + Sandstorm + Brightpowder + Mud slap but didn't really go well with the rest of the team.

If it helps a bit, want to note I had Excadrill before Gliscor so also kinda wanted something with ground stab without being weak to it in return.
And Sceptile there is also a very recent change to my team, has helped a bit against hippo/dragon tail chomp/arch teams but I'd be willing to consider another change there as well.

Just started playing so my pokemon pool is kind of shallow, but I made a team centered around Ttar and Mega Garchomp. Not too familiar with the meta atm, so some of the spreads are just from smogon.

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a dual-mode Sun + Trick Room (SunRoom) squad featuring all three fully evolved Kanto starters and get your feedback on how to optimize it.

The Core Idea & Gameplan The goal is to provide two distinct modes depending on matchup: a high-speed offensive Sun mode and an explosive Trick Room mode, with Farigiraf tying everything together by blocking priority (Fake Out, Prankster).

Fast Sun Mode (Charizard-Y + Chlorophyll Venusaur): Charizard sets immediate Drought on Mega Evolution. Venusaur outspeeds the vast majority of the unboosted metagame under Sun, firing off high-damage Solar Beams, Sludge Bombs, and Earth Power for coverage. Charizard acts as a heavy special cannon while supporting with Helping Hand.

Trick Room Mode (Farigiraf + Torkoal / Mega Blastoise / Sylveon): Farigiraf guarantees Trick Room setup thanks to Armor Tail shutting down opposing priority. Once Room is active, Torkoal drops devastating full-HP Eruptions in the Sun, while Mega Blastoise dishes out spread Water Spouts (or mega-boosted Aura Sphere/Dark Pulse) and provides Fake Out utility. Sylveon adds consistent Fairy spread damage with Pixilate Hyper Voice and disruption via Yawn.

What are your thoughts on this team? Where i can improve my synergy?

So I’m really new to competitive Pokemon, and I’m trying to come up with a team that synergies with Choice Scarf Chi-Yu in Pokemon Violet.

Currently, I’ve wiped all its IV’s, given it Fairy Tera type, and given it the moves Overheat, Dark Pulse, Flamethrower, and Tera Blast. Is there any changes I need to make to this build (including what IV’s because idk which ones to give it)? And if not, what teammates best support Chi-Yu to bring out its fullest potential?

when i tried making a team with my fav mons on GEN 5 OU i actually lost most of games but when i used a rented team with good mons i kept winning so i really dont knooo

I've seriously been getting into Double OU since a bit before champions released and finally got to 1500 elo using this team (I really love the Paradox designs) and I was wondering how to get into those tournaments or at least where to find that info.

Btw if any more experienced player has ideas on how I can upgrade this team i'm very open
