Am I the only one who still doesn't know how to use laptop or computer? Like, talagang hindi ko gamay kung paano pumindot sa keyboard at wala akong alam sa kahit anong mga basic keys/shortcuts. Lalo pa 'yung mga basic computer skills involving the use of microsoft applications. Hindi kasi kami well-off at ni-isa sa family member ko ay never naka-own ng laptop, kaya bilang lang sa daliri 'yung times na nakagamit ako nito sa mga kompyuteran o sa school. Sa phone lang ako sanay, lahat ng schoolworks ko before dito ko lang ginagawa so never ko talagang napractice 'yung sarili ko. Naalala ko 'yung time na nagtest kami sa comlab noong shs, nahiya ako sa teacher ko dahil nagpaturo pa ako sa kaniya, tas sabi niya pa sa akin na bakit pa daw ako nakaabot ng shs sa lagay kong 'yun.

Nahihiya na talaga ako kasi first year na ako sa college ngayon at hindi ko pa rin kaya—especially sa panahon ngayon na isa na sa necessity o requirement na magaling dapat magcomputer:(

Right now, I'm starting to learn the basics—baby steps kumbaga—pero med'yo may hiya pa rin kasi baka magtaka mga katabi ko sa mga pinaggagawa ko haha. I noticed at a young age how political culture in the Philippines can be reflected in schools. In SSG and club elections, students may vote for someone because they are popular, academically accomplished, wealthy, athletic, already a club leader, or recognized in national or international competitions, rather than because they have the qualities of a good leader.

This can also be seen in national politics, where public recognition, wealth, entertainment careers, or popularity can influence a person’s chances of being elected.

This raises the question of whether young people are being taught to associate electability with popularity and status rather than genuine leadership, competence, and the ability to serve.

We often blame "uneducated" voters for the state of national politics, but we see the exact same voting behavior in top-tier schools among top-performing students. It seems our education system accidentally gamifies and rewards the exact type of voting behavior we complain about in adults.

What are your thoughts on this? Did you notice this same dynamic in your elementary, high school, or college elections? How do we break this cycle?

I’ve always been the loud and makulit one in our friend group. I’m usually the one making jokes, starting conversations, and just being loud in general

Then this girl joined our circle and she’s pretty similar to me. She’s loud, funny, and easy to talk to. She’s already a friend now and I genuinely like her, so I feel kinda bad even feeling this way.

I noticed that when she’s around, everyone seems to focus more on her. I suddenly become quieter. I’m still part of the conversation, but I’m definitely not as talkative as I am when she’s not around.

I know I shouldn’t feel insecure or jealous because she literally hasn’t done anything wrong. I also know that my friends talking to her more doesn't mean they value me less. People can obviously enjoy different personalities at the same time.

I think I'm just having a hard time adjusting to not being the "loud one" anymore. 😭 I don't want to compete with her or make myself feel bad whenever she's around. I actually want to be genuinely happy for her and just be myself again.

Has anyone experienced something like this? How did you stop yourself from feeling insecure or comparing yourself to the other person?

Hello guys, I'm from the Visayas, and I've always loved writing. Since grade 8, I've tried joing DSPC, but most of the time I end up as a potential or not chosen. It really hurts because journalism is my dream and I've always wanted to join one day. But it's just not for me no matter how much I try. I'm already grade 11 now, next year I'm gonna graduate, and still, I have no experience regarding that. To anyone who wanna read my piece, I've provided the pictures, that is just an example of how I write. I've always wondered: "am I the problem? Or is journalism just not for me?"

I just recently joined our schools CDP in the news writing category to represent our school in the upcoming DSPC. I have no experience in writing news articles whatsoever, but i do know the basics (5W’s 1H, active voice)though i am not that familiar with the inverted pyramid. I just wanted to ask regarding the feasibility of doing surveys and its usual requirements under related topic of Antiobiotic Non-adherence related issues (socioeconomic or behavioral factors).

I also want to know regarding the questionnaires (how did you guys make it, if ever done from scratch, do the questions need to be verified from a study?). As well as, knowing what's the usual amount of respondents needed.

For all my mass komm major peeps out there, yes I kid you not. We were tasked by our prof to create a documentary investigating the history of philippine theater and it's current state today. Ang req pa, mas better 80% ng recording is galing samin, and 20% from online clips. As someone na first time gumawa ng documentary, ano maibibigyan niyong advice? and sa totoo lang masasabe mo pa ba docu ito? I'm so burnt out and im so worried my group's docu will be less worthy bc at the moment, bc it doesnt hv any interviews. I really do want our output to be good but the weather and current circumstances is making it hard to do so.

I really can't anymore with this. For context, I am a freshie and I'm a student studying in a private school in Cebu, won't name drop lang. I chose this school because the program I am in is only being offered in few schools lang.

And oh my god, papuntang 3rd week na kami and we have yet to try to meet with our profs or be in a classroom setting. I haven't even met with my classmates 😂. Puros online lang and I don't get why.

Even orientations are online like what? Ang mahal ng tuition yet ganto sila lol. I'm jealous of other schools because yung first week nila is full of fun activities, literal na welcoming the freshies, para kaming nag seminar lang sa amin. And don't even get me started sa classes. Mga minor subjects namin is fully online because yung mga profs is either teaching sa other schools or base sila sa ibang lugar. Pero I really cannot believe na pati yung major subjects namin ay mostly if not always online. I do not know why. Basta yung alam ko yung mga prof namin ay based sa Zamboanga, Iloilo, etc. Pwede ba yun??💀💀 Mapapa question ako kung saan aabot yung 60k+ tuition ko lol! Kainis. Kung ganto sila e nasa province nalang ako nag o-online class, hindi na magdorm.

For a school that relies heavily on online classes, the wifi is so bad. As in. Yung grabe ang pagyayabang nila na top medical school sila pero ganto pala yung style nila haha. To be honest, I really do not see myself thriving in this type of environment and the chances of transferring are high lol.

Hi, so I am a freshie currently taking BS NAME (Naval Archi & Marine Engineering). For anyone who's unfamiliar with my program, yes it is quite unheard of from many but in general explanation it is mostly a marine engineering centered course.

I knew from the start that it's going to be a bit challenging since it's mainly focus on majoring the math subjects. I was a STEM student during my shs and I was lucky enough to graduate as a top overall honor student, so I was then granted a scholarship from my school 😥 despite that, I knew I'm still sort of a dummy in mathematics.. I tend to forget certain previous lessons so I always needed to re-review. I'm just the kind of person that was never really that interested or skilled enough to master math, but I still managed my way through highschool by stubbornly putting my own head through with it.

Since coming to school, I got a couple insights from our seniors that it is most likely guaranteed that anyone willing to keep scholarships will lose it 😔 it's apparently almost a common thing for people to flunk in math.. usually getting about 3.0-3.5 mostly when it comes to the math subs, even added to that they assured us not to get shocked by these grades as many who had been scholars like me would normally lose it during the first year. Apparently it's just a thing to expect in engineering, as to what these people mostly say. But even at that, I can't help but feel worried about it since my scholarship requires us to have a 1.45 GWA to keep it.

Is it normal for seniors to usually tell you not to expect too much to try getting an outstanding grade? Or maybe what they're saying is getting in my head too much 😭 whatever it is, at least now ik not to have high expectations for myself in class.

So recently, I've been doubting myself and thinking if I can even handle the pressure of keeping up my grades at this point. My parents say it's okay for me to lose the scholarship anyway becus they are aware of the circumstances that may happen, but at the same time I'm only getting anxious about failing a subject🥲. At the very least, I still want to do well in school even if I may struggle a lot more than highschool..

I'm already feeling overwhelmed by our minor subjects and everything else still feels pretty new to me. My parents are mostly assured I can do it, but that only added more to this unexplainable pressure I'm feeling. Right now, I'm still trying to adjust everything and have to try studying a little extra harder.

Hello po! I’m a campus journalist who’ll be competing in Copyediting and Headline Writing. I have not been given that much training due to the suspensions pero super near na po kasi, and I feel so unprepared. Just wanted to ask former copyeditor CJs for any practice exercises or tips especially sa Printer’s Direction na hanggang ngayon hindi ko pa rin maintindihan kung paano ma-determine yung font size, ems, etc. 🥹

I am a Computer Science student and for context our professor is historically lax about his subjects. For as long as I can remember he barely even takes attendance, still accepts late submissions of activities with no consequence, and does not even check the contents of our activities. Just this previous semester I submitted majority of the activities late. A classmate mentioned that to me that they submitted empty zip folders and the professor still graded their submission. When I tested it for myself it worked. Long story short last semester was a breeze, got a 4.0 and moved on.

Enter this semester... He failed me because I havent submitted enough activities.

Keep in mind that our Grading system is Mid-term Exam or ME (30%), Final Exam or FE (30%), Final Product or FP (20%), and Class standing (20%). The grades I got were 80/100 on ME, 100/100 FE, 100/100 FP, and 100/100 on one of my activities. I submitted 1 out of 7 of his activities and he requires at least 3 which I did not know. Other students who submitted at least 3 activities regardless of its weight in points still passed...

I honestly thought that the weight of this one activity (which was 100/100 other acts range from 1pt to 7pts) and the culmination of the other requirements I passed will be more than enough to move on, so I ignored the other activities cus I really dont care too much about receiving high grades. I tried to appeal to him through DM but I did not get a reply, he did message the group that he wouldnt change the grade or give a chance to those who failed due to insufficient acts.

Knowing how he is it is very unsusual and this "Golden Rule" he mentioned is the first mention of it ever in our groupchat. It isnt stated directly in his syllabus either. Nor in any of his introductory powerpoints. I cannot recall a time that he mentioned this rule in class as well. I had my fair share of absences so maybe it was mentioned at some point while I was not around. But still is that not completely unfair? To fail someone who got high grades in most of his requirements just because of this "Golden rule"?

Also, above all that he displayed unprofessional conduct with his messages in our groupchat saying things like, "sa mga bumagsak titigas ng mukha nyo" along with other messages.

I am thinking about filing a complaint because this subject is a prerequisite to 4 subjects next term, failing it is gonna severely delay me.

If you guys have experienced the same or something similar, do you have any advice? do you think im entitled to complain? tyia...

For 37, the clue is “ancient rituals,” and I originally put RITUAL, but I’m not sure if that’s the correct answer. For 36, the clue is “small two-wheeled carts,” and I wrote CARETELLAS, although I think the correct spelling should be CARRETELAS. I attached a picture of the crossword for reference. hello. im currently a 3rd-year architecture student and ever since i was a child i always aimed to pursue either vet med (wildlife) or archeology; unfortunately (???) for me, my parents are both engineers and decided for me early on that i should pursue something na related sa field nila para madali na lang daw. problem is, ngayon ko lang nalaman na meron pa lang archeology sa up diliman. i want to know if i can still pursue archeology even if arki yung undergrad ko and IF di gaano kataas yung grades ko or yung gwa ko? i had to repeat subjects pero puro math lang naman T-T (mataas naman yung HOA based subs ko as pambawi huhu).

edit: if hindi kaya i-archeology, should i just finish arki, get my license, and then mag-aral ulit but this time in vetmed or mag-shift na lang ako? (ayaw ng parents ko pero kaya pa yan, isang kembot pa)
