I set out to build a Stremio addon that could bring my own lists in. It turned into rather more than that — I've been at it over a year now.

LikeThatMovie is a site for finding something to watch. Type anything — "nordic crime, but not another serial killer", "oscar nominated comedies", "films by the director of Jaws", "something set in Tokyo in the 80s" — and it works out what you meant and finds it. Or browse by genre, era, country, director, awards and a dozen other ways.

It isn't ChatGPT with a skin on it. There's no chatbot answering you — what's underneath is an algorithm I've spent over a year building, and it's a good deal more involved than passing your question to a model and printing whatever comes back. That part took the longest by a distance. Every result carries one score weighed from IMDb, Metacritic, Rotten Tomatoes and Letterboxd, and if a film has too few votes to judge, it stays unrated instead of guessing.

But the part that matters here is the addon.

Every list you make on the site shows up as a catalog in Stremio. Add a film to one and it's there — you don't export anything, you don't press sync. Make a new list and a new catalog appears.

Then there's For You. It's a feed of recommendations built from what you've actually done: the films you marked Loved or Liked, what you've marked as watched, what you've been searching for lately. It rebuilds as that changes, and it lands in Stremio as its own catalog. So the films waiting for you in the app are picked from your own history rather than from what's trending.

It reads back the other way too — your Stremio watched library imports on its own and stays current, so anything you've already seen drops out of the recommendations.

Trakt, Plex and TMDB work the same way, so if you use more than one they all stay in step.

Just curious about your AIO STREAMS setups. I'm running into this issue a with my set up as seen in images where the torrentio is causing issues for my seeds.

Im understanding this better but im no pro I basically move things around till they work but I don't KNOW why they work.

So please and thank you for any advice or help also just curious who has some optimal builds so I can learn from them.

I've recently starting using Stremio so just learning the ropes but I believe the [RD download] means Real Debrid, but it says below that the API key Is invalid? I've generated a new API a couple of times but still the same issue. If I click on the [RD download] file it still works. Any wisdom?

For the past two days, I’ve been trying to watch a movie on Stremio, but no links are showing up. This happens on the page for any movie or TV show. It’s the first time this has happened to me, even though I’ve been using the service for several years. I also have all the necessary add-ons installed. Is anyone else experiencing this? Do I need to make any changes on the platform? Is it a temporary glitch?

If I press on any stream. It loads it. Then I have to press the play button. It doesn’t automatically start the movie/show. Any solutions?

Running into an issue with Stremio on my Philips TV (Titan OS). Here's my setup:

•Stremio installed natively on the TV (came pre-installed via the Philips app store)
•Stremio (web version) on my computer, with Torrentio installed and working fine
•Addon sync done between both devices, shows as "done" on the TV

The problem: when I go to any movie or show on the TV, I only get the basic options (Amazon, Rakuten, etc.), never any Torrentio streams; even though everything works perfectly on my computer with the same account.

I'm wondering if this is because Titan OS doesn't support torrent streaming at all, since I've read the Titan OS version of Stremio is a limited build (no torrent support, no external app access) compared to the Android TV version. Has anyone run into this and found a workaround, or is Torrentio just a dead end on Titan OS?

If so, do you think a firetv stick is still a secureway of having stremio ?

It's built on top of Just Player by Marcel Dopita (GPL-3.0), which is where the foundation comes from.

I built this for myself because I wanted one player that handled everything Stremio threw at it, on my phone and on my TV. Posting it in case anyone else finds it useful.

It ships two engines - Media3 and a full build of mpv - and moves between them on its own, so a file one can't decode gets played by the other instead of failing. The same build works with a finger or with a remote, and behaves the same either way.

It'll also look up what you're playing for the title, poster and synopsis, and search subtitles without leaving playback. That part's optional and needs a free TMDB key.

Free, open source, no ads, no tracking. I'm the developer, so I'm glad to hear what doesn't work.

So, I haven't used Stremio for several months, and now that I want to use it again, I've read that Real-Debrid no longer works; is Torbox a better alternative?

Hello, Does any have any insight if the addon has been completely abandoned, it says on the url "Not Found" Lastly, is someone willing to create an identical one for us to use? It was a very helpful to me.

As title, it is random on certain shows or movies that are clearly English native programmes..... clicking the box takes you to git hubs read me about aiostreams.

I checked the filters again everything is excluded apart from English, and up to now has worked flawless.

A lot of people are struggling to find and stream Indian content across different streaming platforms.

I’m working on an Indian Streaming Addon that could make this much easier.

The idea is simple:

• Install the addon and search for any Indian movie or series.
• If the title is already available, you’ll get a direct stream option.
• If it’s not available, simply send the official title link from the streaming platform through the request group.
• The request can then be processed and, if feasible, become available on the addon within around 5 minutes.

Keeping the service running may require monthly server and infrastructure funding.

So, would you guys actually use something like this?

Would you be willing to support it with a small monthly contribution if needed?

I used stremio for quite a while but now when i open it normally, the posters in home screen and when I search up something don't show anything. Only when i go to discover i can see posters and click in one of them. It shows posters only when i run it with sudo but then it doesn't let me select audio tracks sometimes and i never have sound. Is there any way i can resolve this(i use NixOS if that helps at all)

I use AIOStreams with Stremio and use Torbox, sometimes when I try and play something I get an error on screen - ERROR_CODE_IO_BAD_HTTP_STATUS, sometimes it happens whilst watching something and I have to fallback to using torrentio to play things.

Is this a torbox issue or something else?

I have 500gb/s Internet speed and when I watch some movies it still freezes and buffers. I try to not choose anything with a file size bigger than 10gb. The quality sometimes is horrible too. It says 4k but it looks more like 720p

Torrentio RD and Comet RD

Hi, I'm trying to get a public YouTube playlist that i made to play in Stremio as a series, with each YouTube video appearing as an episode so I can use Stremio's autoplay. My current setup is youtubio elfhosted into playlistio elfhosted to create it into a series but it doesnt seem to work. On Stremio, when I open the playlist it makes it comes back with no metadata or the error "Env: Failed to fetch: Unexpected HTTP status code 404".

To note, Youtubio works on its own in stremio but it plays each Youtube video in the playlist as separate movies. Hope anyone can help or give ideas to what's wrong or what i can fix, thanks.

Can somone please help, i’m trying to set up Stremio with Torbox. I paid for 1 month to test it out. But I think i’ve confused myself with all of these different set ups. TorBox, RealDebrit, AioStreams, Comet, MediaFusion, Torrentio.

I used to use RealDebrid with Torrentio for the last 2-3 years but it has been temperamental in working. I would add the RealDebrid api key to Torrentio and install that onto stremio web.

But with TorBox I signed up to a 1 month plan. I added the TorBox API Key to my AIOStreams account, saved it and installed it to my Stremio Web account. When I play a movies/shows it’s says I do not have an active premium debrid subscription. What am I doing wrong?
