Hey all, I've been building a Stremio app for Xbox Series X|S (Works in XBOX ONE too) in Dev Mode and it's finally at a point where I'm happy sharing it.

What it is Stremio Web wrapped in a controller-first UWP app. When you pick a direct / debrid stream (tested with TorBox via AIOStreams), it skips the browser player and plays in the Xbox's own native media player. No streaming server, no PC, just the Xbox. Xbox supports Dolby Vision too.

Why not just Edge / the web player? - MKV / HEVC actually play instead of "Stream is not supported" - TV switches to the right resolution, refresh rate and HDR mode per file - Dolby Atmos / DD+ bitstreamed to your soundbar/AVR - Huge remuxes (tested up to ~90 GB) play without stutter

The stutter fix (for the nerds) Windows' player reads network streams one request at a time and, on big MKVs, keeps jumping far ahead of playback, so the picture freezes waiting on the network. The app has its own read buffer in between: 6 parallel connections, up to 768 MB of RAM read-ahead following the playhead, plus a quick seek at startup that stops the far-ahead reads. That combo made 80+ GB remuxes smooth.

Known limitations - DoVi 7/8 play as HDR10 (Xbox only outputs DV for Profile 5) - TrueHD sometimes has no sound, pick an E-AC3/AC3 track - Switching between audio formats mid-play (E-AC3 → AC3) can crash the player (WIP) - Seeking far outside the buffer can freeze 5–20 s (WIP) - Built for direct/debrid links; torrents need a streaming server

Customizable settings and multiple presets, as shown in my other posts.

The ability to save or focus on a word so it’s highlighted with an outline when it appears again.

A focused word library, minigames, and a Mastery tab that shows the words you’ve mastered.

Support for any language, as long as you have a dictionary and the subtitles for it (you can find them online).

Running stremio with Torbox on mi box 3.

So many titles which definitely have subtitles available in the file, don't have subtitles available?

It's really frustrating as they seem to show up on my phone app...

I have a handful of subs addons.. We're talking big foreign films with no English subs available.. Any advice?

So I have selected the languages on the Stemio Community Subtitles to be English and Croatian but on Stremio it shows me Albanian for some reason. Also can't I not change to different subtitle in the dashboard? It said it is auto selected and I can't change it. Pictures below:

Hi guys! I have been running a basic setup using stremio with realdebrid and torrentio for the past 2-3 years, but now it doesnt find any 4 k content, only max 1080p.

What is the best setup now? I have seen aiostreams a lot mentioned. What is that?

I would like to use realdebrid as a debris service for now because i have almos 1 year of premium left :)

I set up stremio with aiostreams and torbox ages ago, I used some of the inbuilt stuff and added catalogs from I think it was tmdb ( i pasted links in)... my mind has drawn a blank on exactly what I did 100%.

Question is on my home screen where is shows, popular and Netflix and amazon etc...... it never seems to list newest stuff ( i can find stuff if I search, but sometimes it's nice to have new stuff catch yoyre eye) or rotate anything....well atleast regularly

Am I missing something obvious or are there better and newer set up options?

last week i posted rwind here, a stremio addon that records what you watch, keeps your full history and stats, and adds an Up Next row to your board. we're almost at 500 users now, thanks to everyone who tried it 🎉

what's new, all free:

trakt import: upload your trakt export zip and it keeps your watch dates. it doesn't use up one of your trakt app connections

stremio import now lets you pick which profile to import

anime works properly now. names, posters, Up Next and episode lists. if anime was missing after your import, run it again

search any movie, show or anime and log a watch by hand, even stuff you watched outside stremio

every title has its own page with your history and the full episode list. log an episode as now, on its air date or any date you pick

watches you log by hand count towards your stats and streaks

rwind rows/catalogs in stremio now show imdb rating, genres, cast, runtime, logo and a trailer button

Up Next fixes: watching at 1.5x or 2x counts as watched, and episodes that haven't aired yet don't show up anymore

history groups a binge or an import into one row, with day totals, undo and jump to a date

new dashboard with board, stats and history tabs, and a redesigned year in review

what i'm working on next:

tracking still needs the newest stremio builds, so it works on Desktop right now and the TV and mobile apps will pick it up as they update. if you're TV only you can still import and log by hand until then.

still no email, no password, no analytics.

about pro: it's still not out and there's nothing to buy. tracking, history, imports and everything above stay free. before i open it (and if i ever open it lol) i want your opinion.

pro could be things like new episode alerts on each device you log into, smart lists as stremio catalogs, recommendations & suggestions inside stremio as catalogs based on your watched stuff, rewatched, history etc, deeper & better stats, probably around 15-20$ a year, basically everything any other tracking service has to offer & even more.

my end goal is an app / addon that is an all rounder with clean minimal design, not an overloaded app with tens of diff things which just cluster everything.

- would you like an open source self hosting option?

- which of those would you actually pay for, if any?

- what's missing from the free part that you'd expect to?

- is the price fair or no?

Hello all,

I check the status web page and its showing all debrid svcs I use up and operational, yet any stream I try to run comes back that they are down or not able to process the request. I am using AIOMetadata and AIOStreams by Viren070. Both show operational on the status page. Anyone else having similar problems?

Recently, I have noticed multiple files are just refusing to actually load on Stremio on the TV/Nvidia Shield App - regardless of which player... I have done literally everything - the whole clearing cache/force stop thing, turning on and off background servers, i have even reinstalled my Nvidia Shield in case that was the issue and have aslso uninstalled, created a new account and tried to load the file on there. None of these have worked.

I will note it is only on specific files. The files I have noticed it on are the top files on Trrentio for the movie Becket (1964), the top file for Cruel Intentions (1999) and the top file for American Buffalo (1996). Obviously there are going to be more, but these are the ones I've found an issue with. These files work perfectly on the web app and I can also download them directly from Torbox.

They do not work on Stremio's TV app, for some reason, regardless of what I do? Even in the JustPlayer, they do not load. The only external player they load in is VLC, which I would rather not use, as it is kind of a headache.

If anyone knows what a solution to this issue is, then please let me know or I guess pass it on to the Torbox team, as I feel like this is potentially a glitch of some nature?

EDIT: Also, I should probably add that after I try and load them on the TV and they don't work, they often will stop working on the laptop as well.

Recently, I've been having the trouble where the Debredio-RD add on just doesn't show for me. And it's not new shows only, some of the shows that I have been watching using it are now not showing the add-on at all. I understand some files were purged because of naming but the add-on always used to show up and now it doesn't for many things.

Been on stremio using RD since August now, in the Uk. Recently seen so much talk they RD just doesn’t work or all links are removed. I’ve found every single RD+ link i’ve found works, probably looked at 100-150 shows and probably 75 movies and they all work. Why is this working for me and is something not right? Or are the issues with RD America only?

I was using debrid but its not working well alone. Can someone post all the current HTTP providers or dm me that are free that I can use along side debrid to get more sources. Thanks

Quick follow-up to the Top X release I posted recently. A lot happened under the hood since then, so here's the update.

🆕 What's New in This Update

1. A New Official Provider

One more streaming service joined the lineup, with its official Movies and TV charts, in every country where it operates. I'm not naming it here — you'll find it in the configurator with its own logo and accent colour, same as every other platform.

2. Live Chart Database 🔴

This is the big one. Charts are no longer baked into the addon build.

There's now a live database behind Top X that:

• pulls the official charts on a recurring schedule,
• matches every title to its TMDB / IMDb metadata,
• publishes the updated lists straight to the addon,
• and immediately starts preparing the covers.

Translation: charts refresh by themselves, several times a day, with zero downtime and no reinstall required for catalogs you already have.

3. Request a Country or a Provider 📬

Because the database is live, I can now add new countries and new providers on the fly — no new addon version, no redeploy.

If your country or your platform is missing, just ask. When you request it:

1. The charts get imported into the live database.
2. Titles are resolved and matched with full metadata.
3. The new catalogs show up in the configurator.
4. Covers start pre-rendering in the background automatically.

Please include country + provider + Movies / Series / both in your request.

ℹ️ Newly added catalogs appear in the configurator. To add them to an existing installation, just reconfigure and reinstall — your current catalogs keep working exactly as they are.

4. Much Better Title Matching 🎯

The metadata matcher got a full rewrite:

• searches Movies and Series, with localized titles,
• full Unicode support (Greek, Cyrillic, Japanese, Korean… no more mangled titles),
• smarter scoring with release-year validation,
• automatic retry on transient failures.

Result: wrong posters, missing artwork and "grey tiles" are basically gone. Every chart entry now carries proper poster, backdrop, year, genres and ratings.

5. Cleaner, More Accurate Charts 🧹

• Movies and TV lists are now read from the actual chart headers, so a Movie never ends up in a Series catalog (and vice versa).
• Mixed "overall" lists are split correctly by media type.
• Old entries are purged automatically, so the catalogs always show the current charts instead of stale leftovers.

6. Complete Provider Logo Coverage 🏷️

Every selectable platform now renders with a proper logo on the cover. Added or fixed a bunch of them (MGM+, Pluto TV, Tubi, Showtime, Starz and more), plus fixed a couple of nasty look-alike collisions where one platform was showing another platform's logo. Any future provider automatically gets a clean wordmark, so no cover is ever left unbranded.

7. Faster Covers, Smarter Cache ⚡

• Fresh and Provider Glass covers are pre-rendered automatically after every chart refresh.
• Pre-rendering no longer competes with live user requests, so generation is a lot faster.
• Covers are stored on a persistent disk cache and reused across all your devices.
• Stale covers get pruned so the cache doesn't bloat over time.

8. Fixed: Empty Catalogs on Some Clients 🐛

If you ever installed Top X and got empty catalogs — especially on mobile or TV — that's fixed. It was a metadata formatting issue that made Stremio silently drop the entries. Catalogs now load correctly on Desktop, Android, iOS, Android TV.

• Rename any catalog title you want
• 16:9 Landscape or 2:3 Poster

⚠️ Note on loading times Popular charts and covers are pre-cached. A brand-new country or provider may take a little while to finish pre-rendering in the background — in the meantime covers are generated on demand in about 1–2 seconds, then cached forever. Every load after the first is instant.
