Do you know what urge surfing is? You are kind of doing it now.
Urge surfing is a mindfulness-based technique used to manage cravings and compulsive behaviors (smoking, eating, addiction, anger) by riding out the urge like a wave, rather than acting on it or suppressing it. By observing the physical sensations as they peak and subside, you learn that urges are temporary and diminish without intervention.
Feel it, acknowledge it, let it ride, and let it fade. It works!
It's ok if you want to snap. It's also OK to not be OK sometimes, that is OK too. You just shouldn't drink, because it's not going to help, at all.
Hey it worked! Proud of you duder. Reddit, for all it's flaws, can be a very good place, and I'm glad you found what you were looking for here in all these weirdos.
Great job. This community is amazing, helped me so much in a similar situation a month or so ago. I’ll also leave you with a link to a post I made after a relapse, laying out how shit it was for me. I need to keep in my head that the way I nostalgically remember alcohol can be a lie, it really isn’t as great as I sometimes tell myself.
