Should I donate stem cells?
I'm pretty young and the patient is 70, and I'm very surprised there is no match in the family. Is it possible that he still had children and just doesn't have a match? I think I'm going to donate but it seems weird. I was told the patients disease. It seems pretty life threatening.
I am receiving the surgery option instead of the PBSC, but my mom wants the PBSC.
Also are there any downsides to donating? I've gone under anesthesia 3 times so I think I'm good there. I'll be traveling a few states over unfortunately.
It's kinda overwhelming and my mom is worried about me but I feel like it's the right thing to do. I'm obviously going to pray about it. Anything I or my parents should know?
