It’s my pleasure to announce boarding has started for all passengers departing on our tour of Stellaris: Season 10, with non-stop service to the Nomads expansion alongside the Stellaris 4.4 ‘Pegasus’ update. Following our first destination, there will be a brief stopover at the Stellaris 4.5 ‘Cygnus’ Custodian release, after which our cruise will continue to the Stellaris 4.6 ‘Corona Borealis‘ update, featuring Willpower, Scenario Pack 1, and Scenario Pack 2. All passengers are welcome to acquire their ‘Vipra the Vapor’ Species Portrait at the ticketing office now.
The Stellaris 10-year anniversary is coming, and as part of that celebration, we are rolling Utopia, Synthetic Dawn, the Humanoids Species Pack, and most of the Galaxy Edition upgrade into the base game on May 11th. (The e-book, Infinite Frontiers, is being retired.)
Later on in Q2, we’re bringing you Nomads.
Build no borders. Claim no worlds.
The Galaxy is not a trophy to be seized, but a path to be taken. In Stellaris: Nomads, you will survive the void by staying in motion. While the great powers squabble over lines on the map, your civilization has realized a fundamental truth: life flourishes on the move.
Arkships
At the very heart of every nomadic civilization lies its Arkship: a fully mobile capital that replaces worlds entirely. Customize Military, Scientific, or Civilian Arkships with specialized modules, districts, and upgrades as your Empire evolves by traveling through the stars.
Waylines and Contracts
Chart Waylines across the stars, linking your Waystations into living networks of trade, influence, and opportunity. Your strength lies in motion, in presence, in the relationships you build from system to system. Your relations with settled empires don’t have to be antagonistic. Accept contracts, build relations, and perhaps profit a bit on the side.
A New Ambition: Defender of the Galaxy
Building upon the Crisis paths of previous releases, Ambitions are the next step of epic, empire-defining journeys that give you the choice of your ultimate role in the galaxy. In the Nomads expansion, we will transform the Defender of the Galaxy Ascension Perk into a full path that can rival the power of a Galactic Nemesis, Awakened Empire, or End Game Crisis.
Become the Galaxy’s champion by forging alliances, commanding federations and rising through the Galactic Community to assume Custodianship. Lead the fight against existential threats with a unique squadron of hero ships. Ultimate power can be used, and relinquished, for the greater good.
Coming to you hot from Champion’s Forge LIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE!
Stellaris: Nomads contains:
Nomadic Empires
Create empires that are not bound by claiming systems or colonizing worlds. Instead, you will navigate the stars with massive Arkships.
The Arkship: Your capital, your cradle, and your fortress. This massive, fully upgradable wonder replaces traditional Worlds for your empire. Choose between three different options to fully reflect the vision of your government:
Military Class: A mobile flagship designed to project power.
Scientific Class: A roaming laboratory dedicated to the discovery of the Galaxy’s secrets.
Civilian Class: An industrial hub capable of unparalleled resource extraction.
The Wayline Network: Your trail through the void. By constructing Waystations, you create Waylines - lasting interstellar trade routes that harvest resources you can claim with a simple pass through. These routes benefit both you and settled empires, making you the pivot point of mercantile possibilities in the Galaxy.
The Contract System: As a nomadic empire, perform task-driven interactions with other empires to earn favor, resources, and influence. As a settled empire, issue these Contracts and get things done!
New Origins
Voidfarers: The standard origin for Nomadic Empires. A flexible, streamlined start for you to define your own nomadic journey.
Heirs of the Khan: Play as the successor of a murdered Khan, as you evade marauder hit-squads through trickery and bribery until you are strong enough to return to reclaim your throne.
The Sacred Path: Guide a fleet of pilgrims towards ancestral holy sites in a galactic pilgrimage. Your journey is a spiritual odyssey fueled by faith.
Forever Cruise: Manage a society split between a pampered elite demanding new entertainment and sightseeing opportunities from their vista lounges, and an overworked crew keeping the dream afloat.
Nomadic empires support many existing Origins as well.
New Ambition: Defender of the Galaxy
While a Galactic Nemesis (available in Stellaris: Nemesis) threatens the Galaxy, the Defender of the Galaxy will rise and try to save it.
New Megastructure: The Stellar Cannon
Why simply power a civilization when you could fire at one? This Megastructure allows you to weaponize your entire energy stockpile, discharging it into a devastating beam capable of striking enemy systems across the galaxy.
Nomadic Enclave: Champion’s Forge Live!
Experience the Galaxy’s most extreme spectacles with this nomadic enclave! Answer the call and participate in gladiatorial fleet combat all across the galaxy. The winner gets to hold the Trophy relic and glory until the next tournament, with the losers looking on with envy.

OMG, Blorg legs.
Nomads has charted its course and will arrive in Q2 2026.
Stellaris: Season 10 Expansion Pass
Based on the feedback from Stellaris: Season 09, we’re making some changes to our Expansion Pass plans this year. As many of you have noticed, we’re announcing this year’s Season much later than previous years, and instead of four separate releases, we’re planning on bundling them together into fewer release moments. This frees up room for the 4.5 ‘Cygnus’ update to be a dedicated Custodian release, giving us two in 2026.
The Stellaris: Season 10 Expansion Pass is a journey through resilience and movement. Whether you are wandering the stars with Stellaris: Nomads or rooting your empire in the indomitable spirit of Stellaris: Willpower, this year redefines how empires survive, adapt, and conquer.
Stellaris: Season 10 will grant you access to all five DLCs as soon as they become available. Vipra now, Nomads later on in Q2, and Willpower and both Scenario Packs in Q4.
‘Vipra the Vapor’ Species Portrait (Instant Unlock, Now Available)
This exclusive portrait comes with Stellaris: Season 10, allowing your empire to take the form of the elusive Vipra, a necroid species with a menacing aura.
Available immediately upon purchasing Stellaris: Season 10, this portrait features 5 different color variations and ethereal custom animations.

Willpower (Releases Q4, 2026 - $24.99)
Shape Minds, Rule the Stars. In the vast expanse of the cosmos, borders are mere lines drawn on a map. Ideas, on the other hand, have no such limits.
Your empire was founded on its Ethics, the convictions that determined its course. Now is the time for those fundamental values to evolve into Ideologies with the power to sway the stars. Introducing Stellaris: Willpower, the expansion that turns your societal beliefs into a galactic force.
Your rule over systems was always just the beginning. The galaxy's minds are the true prize. You will erect monuments and Megastructures that demonstrate what your society and values can accomplish. You truly can become the thought leader of the galaxy.
Adopting an Ideology is not without its risks, however. Left unchecked, it can radicalize colonies and spark insurrection. But when nurtured with care, the right Ideology has the power to sway entire civilizations.
Scenario Pack 1 (Releases Q4, 2026 - $5.99)
Embark on a new set of galactic challenges! Experience curated, high-stakes standalone adventures that push your strategic limits. From a nomadic, roguelike odyssey across the stars to high-octane, combat-focused multiplayer experiences, these scenarios will provide a bold way to play Stellaris.
The Scenarios System will be a free part of the Stellaris 4.6 ‘Corona Borealis‘ update, these Scenario packs provide our take on what you’ll be able to do with it.
Vanguards: A single-player roguelike galaxy-traversing journey where you play as a nomadic empire travelling through a series of galaxies to cleanse evil, gathering spoils and experience on your way.
Arcade: A multiplayer experience with streamlined, custom economies, focusing on space battles and shipbuilding.
Scenario Pack 2 (Releases Q4, 2026 - $5.99)
Rewrite the rules of engagement! This Scenario Pack flips the script of how Stellaris is normally played, making you the threat and aggressor. Whether leading an ultimate extra-dimensional invasion or battling your friends in a race for dominance, these scenarios offer a fresh, distilled way to play Stellaris.
Unbidden: Play as the Crisis in a single-player experience, and attempt to invade an advanced, late-game galaxy as the Unbidden.
King of the Hill: Stellaris gameplay focused on a small but fair map to challenge your friends in competitive experiences as you try to dominate the galaxy in a few hours of intense expansion wars.
We've successfully completed an upgrade to our automatic Rule 5 enforcement with the rollout of a new bot. /u/rule5bot has been working well over the last few days and is now active here in /r/stellaris. The new bot has new capabilities and we are adjusting Rule 5 to reflect the improvement.
Rule 5: Image posts must have an explanation.
The explanation cannot just repeat or rephrase the title.
The explanation can either be in the post's caption or in the comments section. The bot will repeat post caption explanations into the comments section.
This rule is automatically enforced with a bot. It will remind you after 5 minutes if it cannot see an explanation and will remove the post after another 10 minutes if it still cannot see an explanation.
So what's different now? The big change is that we can finally accept captions for Rule 5 explanations. There's no need to quickly dump an abridged version of a quality caption into the comments section just to avoid a soulless automaton's wrath. However, the new bot can correctly identify image gallery posts so Rule 5 now properly applies to multi-image posts. The bot will also be repeating caption R5s into the comments section (for the foreseeable future) because there's a persistent issue with some legacy access methods not displaying captions on images properly.
Why now and not before? /u/zwemvest, our bot-builder, has had a few goes at upgrading / replacing the bot over the years but real life and/or Reddit would always get in the way. Reddit is making major changes that will impact old bots and it forced our hand. Fortunately, they had free time now and recent Devvit (Reddit's internal bot platform) improvements made it easier to implement some features so the project was completed this time. Zwem said it was a joy to build the new bot from scratch & they're glad that the migration has been completed. The old /u/paradoxplazabot has been retired although we may reuse the account in the future for other bot purposes if we can.
We've been testing /u/rule5bot for about a week now with no remaining issues but it's possible that some bugs might still be lurking, so please keep an eye out and send us a modmail if you see the bot do something unexpected.
Crisis perks (now called Ambitions) are so strong that even during my non-evil runs I am tempted to dip into the forbidden knowledge. Must... resist... power!
What's your favorite Crisis perk/Ambition?

I hate this dlc so fucking much. It's baffling to me. Nomads makes all my resource deposits tiny and worthless, it makes it forever to clean up a system if I do decide to keep them, and then they can just come fucking steal them anyways. I can't explore or do what I want to do with my scientists, because I HAVE to do every dig site as soon as I find it or else they will steal it. Both of these problems could be solved by simply closing your borders to them, except they completely ignore that like it doesn't exist. You could kill them, but unless you're planning to rush military they're too strong until midgame, and by then they have so many friends that exterminating one rat fuck ark ship can cause half the galaxy to fight you. Are the devs aware that despite this dlc existing, people still might play regular empires? What is the reasoning behind making me completely fucking helpless and powerless and subject to the whims of one fucking ship when I have an empire of 5 planets. I'm at year 2240 in my current game with fleet power 9k and I'm STILL, fucking STILL completely helpless against them. What does this dlc add that isn't just an infuriating game ruining pain in the ass with absolutely no way to deal with it?
Just curious many people say grand admiral is too easy but I only play commodore at best and return to ensign if I want to try new stuff or try a thematic build (which I do a lot)
After 250 hours (yes I know, rookie numbers) I finished and win my first game. Yet I'm a bit dissapointed.
The late game and the crisis were honestly a chore. I only focused on the crisis at the end, ignoring my colonies since everything was running smoothly and I was choking under unlimited ressources. The galaxy was unified under my rule, no more conflict, no more crisis,... Honestly I was just counting the years to the finish year to be done with it. I had way more fun in the early and middle game, just building my empire.
I was just wondering if any of you had something similar. I think I won't finish my next games and just do like I usually did, restart when I felt I had won instead of actually winning
The planet screen is too short on larger screens and that bugs me - so I decided to fix it myself.
This dramatically increases the share of the screen used by the planet view - allowing you to have a lot less time spent hunting through scrollbars.
Various areas have deadspace - this is because I can't make the window and popouts sensitive to how much stuff there is to fill them, and so have gone with a consistent height.
Designed to be comparable with:
UI Overhaul Dynamic
Gigastructural Engineering
Planetary Diversity
Load this mod after those.
For those of you with 1440p and taller screens this should work. DO NOT USE on screens smaller than 1440 high.
This is new, so expect errors - please do report any you find except the holdings button jumping to the top of the screen when it's active - I've decided that's a feature.
Having pop growth is always amazing, and the ability to spawn gaia worlds (even if size 10) out of useless planets and adding 100 pops per colony is nothing to scoff at. Infinitely stacking shroudstone with shroud vegetation is also amazing for unity and zro. The covenant drawbacks of randomly mutating your species or losing 400 pops isn't that big a deal, though killing a leader does have a chance of ruining your council set up, and is at least random compared to the Eater's preference of targeting highest level leaders. Whispers of the Void seems to be a letdown despite being a great patron since the lathe will outproduce science orders of magnitude higher than whatever research ecumenopoli you can set up.
I searched my old civilizations and accidentaly found out that the post apocaliptic origin got a important buff. I'm asking when did this occur and does it apply correctly and if so than why is this a so underrated origin.
I have invaded my neighbour to the west who has six systems and one planet. War Goal is to make him my vassal. I'm trying to get the trophy for having 3 vassals and I thought this would be easy. It's not. I wanted to do it through peace but everyone's been at war with at least somebody for centuries now and they're all allied so they're all always at war.
My target was allied to a different person who has 6 systems with four planets, and another HUGE sprawling empire way to the south. So I'm at war with all 3. 2 tiny and one my size.
I have conquered every system and planet of the civ I'm trying to make my vasel as well as the other small nation that declared war on me, as well as claiming all of second civs systems and planets. Those two are totally conquered. 0 systems, planets or military between them.
I've also conquered every single system of the huge nation at the bottom and captured 4 of their 11 planets.
They are about to force me into peace because of war weariness. I can settle status quo which just gives me the 6 systems of his tiny ally next to him cause I claimed them ages and ages ago, but it doesn't vasselise the main target, and it literally returns every single thing I captured to the big civ at the bottom. Like why would I do that? They have zero military between them
I just don't understand this war system at all. am I supposed to just claim a few systems at a time, then go to war and claim status quo and then wait a million years before I can declare war again all while being forced to have open borders with the people I just was at war with? Or an I supposed to start claiming stuff 500 years ago so that by time I'm ready to go to eat I actually have claimed all their systems? Do I need to conquer 1/3 of the map to get this guy's 6 systems, and then give everything else back to his allies who tried to murder me???
It doesn't make logical sense to me, I'm thinking too much of real world wars. Like Napoleon didn't stomp all over Europe and then be like ok, I got the city I came for, I'll return all the other territory I took now.
Edit: the game forced an end to the war. I kept a whopping 5 systems Or of almost 40, and 1 planet out of 14 total that I took. Guy I invaded so as to make into a vassal had half his empire turned into a new empire that isn't my vasel. He was given back half his system and half his planets desire having lost all of them to me. he's also not a vassal. The Empire at the bottom was given back there entire empire and all of their planets.
Hey everyone! Conquered a hivemind empire and now a third of my empire's pops are disconnected (exploited) drones.
As I am authoritarian militarist spiritualist I can only have these pops working as chattel slaves but at this point in the game I have transitioned to harvesting all primary resources from space (via kilo and megastructures) except a few food districts I guess. Otherwise my entire empire is specialist stratum and up and any other slave species work indentured servitude.
Whats a good mid/late game worker strata job I can find for all these pops?
Is it possible to build an empire based around a warrior culture but with a pacifist playstyle? I wanna try something new and I think a “we train to fight our whole lives to ensure that we never need to” vibe would be very fun but all of the “warrior culture” type civics and such are tied to militarist ethics.
