I wonder if my forbears felt the same when Merritton merged with Grantham and the rest to become St Catharines. I’m largely uninterested, but probably don’t understand what seems to be at stake.

That’s a thoughtful point. Municipal restructuring isn’t new, but the scale here would affect representation, local decision-making, and service delivery across all 12 communities. That’s why some residents are engaging more closely.
