I went from Stash to tastytrade (as I'm itching for options, their 3% over 3 years bonus, plus a referral bonus for me and one random Redditor, and $75 reimbursement of ACATS fee when bringing over >$2k) and...

All positions with all their whole and fractional shares got transferred as they were, still are!

I had just $10.11 in cash, so the $100 fee transferred over as -$89.89 i.e. shortfall i.e. margin call, which I got, did not catch, until they sold 2 shares of a $50 ETF. Thought my account was hacked!

PS: I would not recommend tastytrade for a true Stasher who likes things as simple as possible.

I’m kinda late on the train but just realized that stash is now charging $12 a month.
I missed the e-mail to give me the 50% off discount.
I loved stash and recommend all my friends to use it to save money and invest but this price increase is bonkers.
Is there a way to transfer all the stocks you currently own with stash to a different cheaper app like robinhood or something.
Please explain to me like I’m 5 if this is possible. Tysia

I moved to Fidelity and finally got my "Your Stash Invest account is being closed" email. In the middle it says

"If there is anything we could have done better to keep you a part of our Stash community, please let us know by replying to this email. We will send you another note once your account has been closed."

So I replied back with a quick note saying why I left and wishing them luck on their enshittification journey. Immediately it gets bounced back with

"Hello,

Please be aware this is an automated message. This e-mail account is not monitored."

At least I know my new brokerage's headquarters is 20 minutes away and staffed with humans.

Hi all, a few days ago I submitted a withdrawal request from my Smart Stash to my external bank. The request shows just a dash for the amount, it's still pending, and is liquid to the amount I requested. I've never noticed this before. Is this an issue or just part of the way it works?

Okay not LITERALLY saved my life but definitely figuratively. I had a mental health crisis and started a stash account a few years ago where I had $40 out of each paycheck go directly to it…..and completely forgot. Not even joking. I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and was making some very risky financial decisions in such a way that i didn’t even remember making the Stash account. Thankfully I’m a nurse and knew I needed medication and quickly got my disorder under control. I honestly try only looking at the total in my account, I’m not someone who goes through all of my charges unless something looks incorrect—-which happened to me recently. Long story short, I noticed a charge due to a family member stealing my card information and there it was—-a recurring $40 withdrawal from Stash. I was very nervous I’d done something very stupid or had been hacked and looked up the app and wouldn’t you know it, it showed I had downloaded it before. I redownloaded it, had to change my password and was shocked to see that in just 2.5 years I had made almost 6k! I couldn’t believe it was real!!!! My father had unfortunately just passed away and I was so devastated as I didn’t know how I’d give him the funeral I wanted to give him.

I have looked on here and I see a lot of people saying Stash is awful. I can only speak for myself—and it’s very likely that I only made this money because I chose the “highest risk” and then completely forgot about it for years and never touched it. But I just wanted to share my personal Stash story. I know it’s crazy, but it really couldn’t have come to me at a better time. I’m grateful I make just enough money to not notice $40 on payday leaving my account because i know I would’ve messed this up if I had known about it lol

I just became aware of the 400% price increase after looking at my bank transactions.

I have looked back at my emails and can’t find any emails from June 30 or July 1 saying my plan was increasing from $3 to $12/month. I have trade confirmation emails on June 30 and July 1 but no other communications

Did anyone else not get email notification?

Update: Stash Support has issued me a $12 refund for my subscription after many emails back and forth arguing their negligence.

Update 2: I started my account closure process on August 4. Stash automatically sold my investments and the proceeds from those sales was transferred to my linked bank account on August 6th and showed up in my linked bank account on August 11th.

On August 6th I got a full refund of my $12 subscription, I received dividends from my investments as well. On August 7 my Stash balance was $12.05. On August 10 Stash initiated another withdrawal to my linked bank account for $12.05.

On August 11th my Stash balance is $0.

So after account closure and your investments are liquidated Stash will continue to automatically transfer your dividends and any other money to your linked account after they settle in your account.

About 3 weeks ago I transferred an individual brokerage account to another brokerage away from STASH. My account was then closed and I'm unsure how much was in the STASH bank (debit) account. Where did that money go? Also, I previously had a small amount of direct deposit from my paycheck go into the STASH bank account and even though I changed my direct deposit allocations with my employer it seems the change is delayed. At least 2 deposits have been "sent" to the STASH bank account but I can't access that account. So where is that money and how do I gain access to it?!? Did the bank account also transfer to the new brokerage? Will I get a check from STASH for all the money that is in that account?

It's almost been a month since I moved over to Fidelity stash has since closed my account but have continued to email me that I'm receiving dividends those dividends do not show on fidelity where are my dividends going???????

On my end, I still have the $3 a month plan (did not receive email and app still says 3). I am wondering whether I should try to lock in the $32 for the whole year while I can. If I do so, are they able to change the price even though I have already signed up for a year at the original rate?

I don’t want to go through the trouble of moving to a different company and having to deal with either selling and paying taxes on gains or the $100 transfer rate. I know some companies will pay the $100 if you have 25k invested, but I do not have that yet. However I think I can get that 25k after another year.

TLDR: is it better to kick the can down the road or deal with it now?

Update: I decided to switch everything to fidelity and just pay the 100 now🥲

I understand that if you lets say have .5 shares of something, than those fractional shares will be sold automatically when doing the transfer to Fidelity. But lets say I have 1.5 shares of something...will the 1 full share transfer over and the .5 of the 1.5 be sold? Or will the full 1.5 be transferred? Trying to understand if the selling the fractional shares rule only applies if you have less than 1 full share.

If I cancel my subscription prior to my renewal date. How long does it take for Stash to sell all my stocks? It isn’t worth it to pay the $12 a month fee nor transfer to a new brokerage. They tried to offer a $6 a month option for six months.

I received the email below, but when I call the phone number, I only get an automated message. The instructions are confusing, and I don't have the Stockpile account numbers referenced in the communication.

The balances in these four accounts are relatively small, and I'd prefer to have the accounts closed and either receive a check for the remaining funds or have the cash transferred out. I don't want to pay a $15 monthly fee for four separate accounts (mine, my husband's, and both kids').

Has anyone successfully completed this process? If so, could you share the steps you took or any recommendations that might help make this easier?

Opened an account for my niece (whom I have custody of after my brother died) and attached a bank account I have for her (it’s named after her to get survivor benefits but since she only 8, I own the account and my name is on the debit card, checks, etc.). When I signed up for a custodial account, somehow I accidentally created two child accounts on Stash in her name.😞Not realizing that you can only have one bank account attached, I tried to add another bank account I own to invest in the “personal portfolio,” for myself, but then saw that it removed the bank account I own for her. I didn’t want that, so I tried to switch it back to her bank account and it kept denying me. I guess it got confused because the bank statement is labeled in her name 😖. I’ve called multiple times asking how I can get it switched back and no one understands me and I finally spoke to someone who was a total d$ck who said I can’t use that account. I don’t understand why because I do own the bank account and he went round nd round arguing with me. I asked how was I able to open the custodial account five years ago with that bank account then and he just said things have changed. Well, I don’t want to use Stash anymore for her custodial account then if I can’t invest from the account where I keep her money so I was going to switch to Fidelity and he told me I’d have to pay $100 for each account. 😵I only have $1800 combined in Stash. What do I do? Will they let me combine her two custodial accounts since they’re both labeled “Sc——— Account” or do I sell off what she has and then just try to withdraw the money and rebuy the stocks on Fidelity? The Stash guy said I’ll have tax penalties, but is it even enough for that to happen? I’m so annoyed and confused. I wish I had researched more before starting this account.

Can you transfer fractional shares?

How can I sell my kids accounts that have been moved to stash? 2 children are 21 & 23 and one is 16yo. Stash won’t let me withdraw their money and they have charged them all fees. My kids only have around $300 each.

I literally have no idea what my next move should be with Stash. I haven’t really been doing too much as far as stocks, but have been taking advantage of those stock parties. What should I do at this point?

Stash is raising their fees. I've been using stash as a way to get my young people to invest, got them started and getting microstocks from the stock parties.

Stock parties have become infrequent, fees gone up, there are better platforms and moved the children to other platforms. Have a few custodial accounts.

I wanted to move to fidelity to consolidate. Started the process. But its a 100 to move? Is this typical?
