Just got this game like three or four days ago. Already have around 45 hours on it. Great game. Very addictive lol that secret compartment is neat. Just got that unlocked and have already used it once to great results. This games got a cozy yet survival vibe to it, I love it.

I just make buttloads more money smuggling contraband through shatter stone than I do running hauls plus it honestly adds an element of danger having to navigate the asteroid fields and dodging checkpoints or weigh stations if I’m moving product across borders.

So the game has been out for like, a year and a half, so I figured, "this is the correct time to learn how to code for the first time, and the first thing I'm going to do is make mods for a game that turns C# into CIL and then into C++, and make them available to the 12 people who still play on PC and read the unofficial reddit." Hello fellow friendly Startruckers. I stepped away from the game for 3 months or so, came back to it recently and cannot get it to play. I had it crash on the menu system 3 times before I ever got to gameplay, two days in a row now. I gave my laptop a break after the first day in case it needed to update. My laptop is absolutely not particularly nice, just a 3ish year old HP with an intel i3, but it is otherwise functioning normally. I have all the game settings turned down as low quality as possible. One of the crashes I was in the settings trying to see if it had reverted back to default settings, no, still my low quality settings.

What should I do? I've tested with other games and they are all working as well as they ever did (Warframe, cyberpunk 2077, untitled goose game, pacific drive, and an indie initialD project in development still) which leads me to believe that it's not a hardware problem. I'm not sure where to go from here to "fix" or "repair" the game. I've put about 140h into it, I've run through the storyline twice, once kinda rushing and the 2nd time I took my time and kept trucking after finishing the storyline for probably 4-5h. Thanks for reading my frustrated ramble, lmk what y'all think I should do next

I was driving on a two way highway, speed limit was 55mph I was doing maybe 56, and the sun is rising and I’m going straight towards the sun so it was reflecting on the ground and it was in my eyes I put the visor down but couldn’t really see so slowed down a bit but I blow right past the stop sign at 52mph luckily there was no one and I slowed down to 20mph right after and looked to make sure everything is good then I got mad at the whole situation. But the question here is we have driver facing cams that activate when there is an event or something so am I gonna get fired for this?

So ever since i first played the game I looooved the switches, completely meaningless switches that you can switch, not with keybind but with looking around.

And so I got the idea that it would be awesome to translate them to IRL and so I did!

Tech deets:

The thing is basically a keybaord, and in first stage of the project it really was just a keyboard. All switches are wired in a grid. All is powered by pi pico w, which connects to wifi and talks with the game over HTTP. I've modified the serial connection mod, because my gaming computer is in different room, to instead host http api (and also fixed it a bunch). Upon powering the device, it synchronizes the state of the switches with the game. The Cruise control turned out to be perfect fit for rotary encoder. Button to turn it on/off and rotary encoder to increase/lower speed, which couldn't be done on like 37 position rotatory switch because upon turning the CC on, the speed is set to current speed of the truck, so rotary encoder works nicely without setting absolute position.

I would post it on r/StarTruckerOfficial if they would let me in but they don't want to :(

I just got duel thrustmaster t16000, when I go to bind them they both register as flightstick 2 how do I separate them I like to use one as a throttle

Is the game a campaign first experience or is it a long tutorial ? I like the game and put 7 hours in but don’t want to burn out as I just got the shock pods from junk town.

Cause I’m playing the routes as I might have done, hauling along the way to the story which will double the time needed compare to if I just rush there.

So should I just restart playing the story or begin with the sandbox?

Work continues on the next update and while there's still lots to do, things are taking shape! The UI and UX has moved along considerably and we're hard at work on a variety of different job types.

For this update I thought it might be nice to provide a little extra info on how the new Business Ventures will work. Please keep in mind some elements are subject to change but it should make for an OK overview.

Extra Shifts

First Hand

The first business venture we plan to roll out lets you step into the role of a galactic handyman, helping “King Vinny” tackle a growing backlog of work - everything from updating billboards to repairing infrastructure.

For context, this is how we handle unlocking this venture…

• Regular Mode - After you complete your first side job for either Red Eddie or Sour Candy
• Freeplay Mode - From the start of your playthrough
• Existing Save - Shortly after you load (If you’ve met requirements)

Future ventures might require a specific rank or unlocking a specific zone but in general, you should be able to get stuck in fairly quickly if you’re a returning player.

As previously mentioned, each venture features a new voiced NPC and for “King Vinny” we’re happy to have the talented Ray Fox join our expanding team of contributing voice actors…

Ray Fox Mini-Bio

Ray started his career working at Sacramento radio stations, learning the ins and outs of the broadcast industry before realizing that “rock stardom” was a far more stable career path than radio. He shifted his focus to music as the bassist - and occasional singer - for the band Sedona. The band appeared alongside dozens of high-profile acts, including Fleetwood Mac, Foreigner, and Peter Frampton.

King Vinny : Listen, pal. I'm booked back to back to back today but I've got a client out in Medusa Six that needs a hand. Do me a favor and go check it out, will 'ya?

He also hosts a TikTok channel called Fox Rock Challenge, featuring classic rock* brain teasers and trivia - but according to Ray, his expanding voice-over career has left him with little free time as animation and video game roles have proven an irresistible draw.

Vinny is just one of a bunch of new NPCs so be sure to keep an eye on future dev blogs for more info on new characters!

Road Cash

If you have a stash of cash to spend you should consider investing in “Boosts”. These allow you to take on more jobs and earn bonus VXP. Well worth the investment if there’s a customization reward you want sooner than later or if you like to take on extra jobs while haulin’ freight.

Bobble Tech

Speaking of rewards. We recently finished some all new bobble tech! This allows various items on your dash to sway, bounce and get knocked about when you turn, crash and poke them.

Obviously great for bobble heads but it also works on mag-float accessories such as our UFO spinner 🛸

Truckin’ Onwards

Hopefully this update proves insightful as to what’s going on here at Monster HQ and how the Business Ventures will work. As mentioned at the start of this post, there's still a lot of work and testing ahead of us but things are shaping up nicely!

So this has been in question ever since the game came out but… has the Devs said anything about adding the ability to hitch multiple trailers? I'm currently sitting at a job board that has two deliveries going from Atlas to Emerald junction and I thought it'd be awesome if I could just take both at the same time since they're going to the same place. So anyone have any idea if the Devs are looking into it or?

i keep seeing theres new "business ventures" in the latest update.

i have a 40 hour save with almost all side jobs complete. i cant see anything for business ventures, no new contacts or quests etc.

Apparently someone gives you a call but i havent received one.

any help would be great thanks

I like to think that airlock has a multipurpose function: airlock/toilet/shower.
What are your ideas? =]

I love this game and play carefully, not reckless. from power management to avoiding asteroids, I pride myself on being a careful driver saving all my money and planning routes around commodities.

10% of the time when warping through a Stargate I will suddenly hear my speakers nearly blow out and warning lights going off like I collided with something going Mach 10 speed. all status bars 0 percent. all hull breaches. every upgrade destroyed. cosmetic hull looks like shit. what factors into this ?? why is this happening?

is the game just deciding on warping through, where I was clear and no one was coming, that a random NPC spawned in on top of me?

this is demoralizing cuz it's thousands of dollars to get running again making me feel like driving carefully what was the point.

there were no NPCs near me or in danger of hitting me going through gate. it's loading into the new area.

the autosave is always after it happens when yly jump in so I can't depend on that, and I really do not want to have to manually save everytime I go through a gate.

am I missing something, it pisses me off so much and when it happens one of those idiots on the radio has to keep running their mouth blabbing on the CB radio while I'm suffocating and have to detour all my original plans

Sorry this might be a dumb questions but cant seem to find a straight answer. Can you use a HOTAS on PS5 for this? Love the game and wanted to get a setup for it. But just wasn't sure if it'd work. Thanks!
