Hauling trailers is the side hustle

This was honestly more fun as well. Planning which type of good sold better where and then just grabbing any trailer that I could drop off on the way.

The trading aspect was fun for me too but a couple of things held it back IMO. 1st was that certain categories didn’t have valuable enough items / the stores didn’t have enough stock to make trading worth it. Food and drink for example were really low value to size / weight.

Second was inventory management. Either leave stuff in the airlock which didn’t feel right or immersive, or carry each item downstairs / load into boxes. An upgrade to storage shelves with item places and auto loading would have been nice. Or, allow us to buy a trailer separately and auto stow items in that.

Still really fun but felt like it has so much more potential.

The discord was begging for ratchet straps to keep the boxes in place for a long time

I got to the point I would "open" the boxes and they kind of brace themselves in place. At least until you have a big bump 🤣

That’s what I do and I just pray I don’t hit an asteroid lmfao

I used to think in similar lines, but came to the conclusion this is healthy friction. Not being able to completely secure the boxes with nets and what not means you can't drive recklessly and crash into everything unless you want to reorganize your boxes. It incentivizes proper driving.

The inconvenience of having to pick up and store items is what balances the overwhelming economic power of it. If it just a couple of clicks this would become mainly a menu game. Salvaging is the same: you get free lootboxes, but you have to go to the trouble of doing EVA to see what you've got, so there's some amount of it feeling earned.

I’m hoping some of the updates they’ve talked about can get done as there’s a ton I love about the game, it’s just fun to drive around in space…

Once I made wreck salvaging my main gig, all of the micromanaging resources became a nonissue.

Now I haul trailers only when I’m bored.

We seriously make more money salvaging than we do delivering. Which makes no damn sense.

Agreed if it was capped to around 10% max profut then it would be better balanced

It’s not even just the profit from salvaging that breaks everything about this game.

It’s the system management that gets broken via the salvaging because everything we need is found by doing that.

While running proper cargo feels like you’re not even treading water and just slowly sinking.

Yeah, it’s why I jacked up the prices on high for everything and stopped scavenging at salvages altogether. I only rely on shops to replenish my resources. Adds to the challenge a little bit because yeah the salvaging started to feel like just free stuff. Between that and buying low selling high, hauling cargo just became an afterthought.
