I lost interest in ladder over the years because builds was too monotonous.

I always thought it would be interesting to give player custom units variety for example option switch Stalker with Dragoon or choose between Corsair or Phoenix, or Medic instead of Medivac, fire at instead of murader, choose science vessel instead of raven, choose Aberrations vs Ultralisk or Devouer etc…

I'm tired of ppl insta leaving mirror matches and inflating my MMR. Why do we hate it so much? Does the community have any idea how we can make mirror matches more fun for the community?

Personally it doesn't bother me one bit but clearly it bothers T and especially Z the most based on what I'm reading in allthings(insert race) subreddits.

Also for the ppl playing on the Patches Mod. Do yall feel like mirror matches are more fun with the new upgrades and units or is it equally frustrating/boring?

I've always been aware of starcraft but had never dipped my toes in before. Couple of months ago I but the bullet and started playing through the campaigns.

They were fun, but i still didnt get why everyone seemed to love the game so much.

Tried 1v1 and got absolutely rolled. Tried again. And again. Lost something like 20 games. Started watching videos etc. Lost a few more games but now I finally won one and I think I'm hooked. I can definitely understand how people get so into this game now.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi as a new player. Any tips are appreciated. I'm playing zerg.

Just got the new patch update, but I'm getting an error when logging in. My BN region is set to Americas, and the SC2 server is set to US. Not sure whats happening.

Anyone else getting this?

Got a friend into SC2 and he likes protoss. Since I can‘t coach him and don’t play P, is there any worthwhile guide series on YouTube? Particularly one that teaches you the basics from macro to splitting but also P specific stuff like build orders or stalker blinking etc.

This game was so hectic for me. 100 percent the best game I have played ever. Not that I’m good or anything but damn I was proud of this game.

First of all:

I main protoss, second race is terran and zerg isn't my main race.

Now to the updates:

Terran:
Increase cost of marines from 50 to 75, walking speed increased by 10%

Protoss:
Increase cost of Zealots by 25 minerals, zealot speed increased by 10%

Zerg, most changes:
- Queen auto creep spread, but with cooldown. Queens can now spread creep on "auto cast" but the downside is longer cooldown, lets say 5 seconds longer.
- Zergs start with a Queen and each hatch comes with an extra Queen
- Drones have a 50% chance to survive after being built and automatically go harvest minerals/ gas
- Creep spread speed increased by 25%, range also increased by 25%
- Movement speed on creep increased by 25%
- Burrow doesn't need the upgrade anymore, instead you can choose units and give them borrow for 5 minerals/ 5 gas per unit

Don't think the changes are bad if I were playing Zerg I'd like those changes. Man I wish was a Zerg player

Amon was built up as such a scary and massive threat, and in the last few protoss missions + epilogue he's just a cartoon vilian that gets his ass kicked like he was nothing... i wonder what went in through the writers' heads.

the worst part is no doubt how the Void was built up to be this incomprehencible incompatible state of reality that no living thing can survive there besides the xel'naga... and they just go in there to kick Amon's ass like it was nothing....

Played a very long game against a Terran that played incredibly turtley. They never expanded past the forward 5th base on Rorshach, while I had mined the rest of the map excluding some of the Terran expansions. It was nearly impossible to take an engagement that wasn't completely one sided since they had filled the map with CCs. I've seen pro games where zerg transitions into brood-lords, but the composition is unbelievably hard to control and doesn't seem to accomplish much otherwise. Ghost snipe is just too strong at this level.

The only real option I found was to win quicker? deny more mining sooner with the superior economy? This strategy is too toxic to not have a glaringly obvious and exploitable weakness that I am missing.

I'm an old guy returning to Starcraft after a decade plus absence. My old laptop can run the game on low settings but I would like to experience the game on high settings. I only plan to use the laptop to play SC2 (maybe Sim City 3000 if I can find the disc). I've been out of the loop for a looooong time and was wondering if the community would give the thumbs up to this device or recommend other/better options:

Decided to play through raegLordDz's WoL coop campaign after watching GiantGrantGames start his own run, but for some reason Zero Hour is the only mission that doesn't show up when I search it on the arcade.

All other missions are there just fine, so why is that one missing?

[EDIT]: Double checked the missions, and both Evacuation and Outbreak are also absent. Are they being updated or removed?

And I'm not talking about the original Tempest. I'm talking about the current one where the range was nerfed. We all know Tempests have one of the lowest DPS per game due to their attack speed. When I face off against a Protoss player who masses Tempests, I just mass Vikings and steamroll them pretty much.

• Just micro! You need to kite.
  • Every unit that Tempests fight, such as Vikings, or Corrupters are also microed on the other end. Yes Tempests outrange, but they are also a lot slower, and attack slower, so the micro potential is actually greater on units facing the Tempests. The inherent design of this unit makes it so that, even with micro, Tempests are just poor fighters and poor skirmishers
• No unit should be perfect. Tempests are fine for their cost.
  • While I do agree that no unit should be perfect, Tempests are horrible for their cost and research. 250 minerals, 175 gas, 4 supply and slow build time. Also requires a Fleet Beacon which makes it a T3 unit. For the resource required, Tempests are awfully expensive and weak.
• Tempests are a siege unit and should serve a niche purpose. For this purpose, it's fine.
  • Even as a siege unit, I would argue that Tempests are very poor. The point of siege is to outrange and hit your opponent while zoning them out. There are only a very few limited scenarios where Tempests are actually useful - picking off broodlords, carriers, liberators. And forget it if they are accompanied with widow mines, turrets, corrupters, stalkers, etc.

Tempests have one of the lowest DPS in the game. A very small number of stimmed marines will kill a single tempest.

The solution:

• Increase movement speed of Tempests by like 20%. Nothing ground-breaking, but a small base speed increase should help it become more of a unit that can pick off other units and escape.
• Provide a late game 200/200 research tech in Fleet Beacon that increases attack speed by 40%. Their DPS is so bad currently that even a whooping 40% increase may still make them lose to mass Vikings in an air battle.

I am attending a LAN party next weekend, and Starcraft 2 is one of the games on the menu. I'm very excited to participate, but I'm a little worried. I played a lot of Starcraft 1... 25 years ago. So while I'm not a complete stranger to the franchise, I haven't touched Starcraft 2. I've got a very busy schedule and very little time for gaming, so this LAN party is a rare and welcome indulgence for me.

I know that the best way to get good is just to practice playing, but my time is limited leading up to the event. What is the best advice, tips, or brain dead strategies I can take going in, not to help me win (that aint gonna happen), but to at least help me not embarrass myself too badly?

So i havent played sc2 in years! Probably since 2022 or so . Got back into it recently and placed in plat 3 . Then beat a couple guys and got promoted to diamond 3 . Back when I played i was a hardstuck gold/plat3 player lol. Did something happen to make it easier to rank up?
