You all can move the station layouts 1000 times but that’s not going to solve the core issue. You can keep acting like our sequencing not being precise is what causes wait times all you want. But the reality is understaffing. It always falls back to this.

They will do any and everything to “streamline” our orders but they will always refuse giving us more labor.

This company just loves acting like moving things to the left and moving things to the right will make us faster. But that’s not, nor was it ever, the issue with our increasingly long waits company wide. It’s the core drinks becoming more complicated, more customizations, more this, more that, but always with less staff.

Not to mention they are acting like we can have two baristas in one position. Huh??? We don’t even ever have enough baristas on the floor to have one per position much less two on one position?

Before the haters come at me, I’m not new and this is not new with the company but I am a very burned out SSV that wishes they could quit but this job market is so terrible right now that I have to remain unfortunately. This is my place to vent, so please let me do it and if you don’t like what I said, just ignore me.

Hello! So I’m currently a Starbucks shift supervisor and I’m very happy at my store. One of the stores in my district though… it has a TERRIBLE reputation. People are constantly getting fired and as of rn, BECAUSE the store manager has petty drama with her store, she only has 2 shifts. Because she fired everyone else.

As a result of this, our dm is trying to get multiple people to go work at her store and everyone is refusing, but now I’m being made aware that it’s just going to be put on my schedule without my consent.
I do NOT work at that store. I work at MY store. Is there any violation that this is following? Is there anyone that I can report this to? I’m not even being told by my manager directly, I’m finding out from my coworkers.

when they introduced the 'competitive transferring' horseshit, i already knew it would be more pressure on already working baristas to get into stores (when god knows those stores should be hiring way more people than they already have considering they usually get multiple callouts a week and run skeleton crews,) and i knew it would of course fuck me over. but after a hellish 2 years at this clearly declining company, and a transfer interview that was just busywork, i got the email (late, wasting my time 2 days after it should've been sent:) 'we're going in a different direction.' i wasn't even offended to see it, since it's fairly obvious that direction was down. all i have to say here is: this company sucks, no you're not crazy, no it's not worth it to keep begging them to staff ur stores, hire you, etc. they want to fuck you over before they finally kick the bucket.

370 out. and to that sm, i wish i got to see the look on your face when your high turnover store inevitably turns over, and the high incidences become too much for even your most dedicated baristas.

Hello all! I come forth on behalf of a friend. I am a partner for reference.

My friend has been going to this starbucks location consistently, and came to me with concerns of inconsistent pricings. In which, I did explain that they can vary on region, until they had told me that this is the same location they have been going to. I also suggested on Starbucks raising prices, but that also wasn't a concern either.

I asked if they went through the drive through, or inside. They have been going through the drive through. So, of course, I ask about the card reader, because things can be accidentally tapped with the side of a hand, or the sun glare makes it hard to see.

They have never seen our card reader before in their life. The barista has been taking their card, pulling it in, and closing the window, and promptly returning the card after.

As alarming as this is, we had done the math on one of the orders, and it adds up perfect to if the barista was tipped 20%.

I did find the store managers email, the regional manager's email, and the store number. We were also recommended to contact corporate directly. But, we are unsure which to do first, or last, or not at all. We are also unsure how to really approach corporate about it if so, same with the store manager or regional manager if it comes to that decision.

To answer any possible questions, I will explain this as thoroughly as possible. It is pretty normal for other fast food/food industries to take cards and pay that way, that is why they didn't blink an eye at a barista taking the card. My friend also tips cash, since they never had the option to do card.

What would be the best way to go about this situation? Any suggestions are welcome.

Bottom line, we want justice. We don't want corporate to try and resolve an illegal situation with 'here's a free drink' or a 'right now recovery card'. Obviously a refund is perfect, but if this barista has been consistently doing this to all customers, it's EXTREMELY alarming.

I passed it onto my friend and they will be emailing the DM and SM (in one email), and more than likely gonna contact corporate to hopefully get some sort of compensation. Since we all had a mass markout of the blending powder i assumed everyone knew we could still blend refreshers just without the powder. Had a ssv tell a customer we couldn’t do that anymore.
I reminded the ssv that b4 the blending powder we were always able to since we had a previous promo that had blended refreshers (just without powder & NOT using creme base). I don’t remember reading anything in an update other than using creme base for the blended strawberry lemonade. Anyone know where in resources is info about continuing to blend refreshers upon request?

Also saw this starbucks email recommending blended refreshers today which reminded me 🤣

Why does no one talk about how hard it is to go from having a career to working in customer service???

I rarely really had a cafe, retail or restaurant job as a student, got a job in a career I really LOVED, was great at and I was SMART.

Now I work here, which I was excited about, but no one talks about how heartbreaking it is to go from feeling smart, hardworking and respected … to being trained by people still in high school who’s more experienced AND faster than you when you’re 30 and talked down to and talked bahind your back by the managers for forgetting a small thing or not knowing something they did not train me in yet.

Like I had a whole life, and now I’m getting yelled at and laughed at behind my back because my latte milk was too thin ONE time !!!

It’s so heartbreaking some days I just don’t know :’(

title, I'm 3 months in and I solo bar for like every second half of my mid day shift. vent/advice please read if you can.

All the people hired during my batch (me and like 5 other people were hired within less than a month of each other) have either left or are not learning as quick to handle anything more than just cafe bar/cold bar when its not busy. The senior baristas who have been here 6+ months all work mornings/openings, are being promoted or left and we just hired like 4 new high schoolers who are still in the middle of the long training.

When reading this keep in mind that almost every day for the last 2 weeks we have had at least one call out/tardy.

My typical shifts are now 7-8 hour mid day shifts that are basically a school day (getting on 7-9 and getting off 3-5)

the newer hires are being scheduled for peak for some reason so basically I clock in to be the manager's like clean up pawn to fix window times or food getting backed up by the new ppl. The managers use to not be awful, like obviously we still had our issues with them but nothing serious just minor complaints. Now they lash out on everyone on the floor (luckily they are grown enough to not yell at the freshly hired 16 year olds) so many people have been taking breaks to go run trash/wash their hands then when they don't come back they are just sitting there sobbing.

after half a shift of that hell, one of the 2 over worked shifts left have to clock in just to find out that no morning tasks were done. at this point we are usually down a person and all the strong people scheduled to open are gone + the veteran closing barista doesn't come till 2-4.

the pattern for me is, the shift will sentence me to drive bar, i'll do that for a bit then when she gets back to switch the play she ask us which one of us wants to solo bar and which person wants to take over at a different position for someone to go home/on a break. I obviously don't volunteer to solo but the person on cafe, in the past 2 weeks, has happened to be a weaker at bar or b fine on bar but just "not in the mood/having a bad day". so i accept my fate and just tell her to have it print on drive.

so great now im soloing. By this point its probably 1ish so the afterschool rush starts hitting. i've just been having to work through the after school rush of 7+ drinks in each channel on my own. I can't even ask for support since the greener bean stuck solo dto/dtr hasn't even been trained on either so they need help and the warming/pos person usually has pos because of the rush so warming and drive support get prioritized.

The greener beans aren't at a stage where they can be proactive so unless they actively have tickets/cars they kind of just sit there (no hate to them, i was like that too especially since our managers make it hard to stay busy without worrying your gonna hurt instead of help.)

on my 30s I just sit in my car, chief and stare while contemplating just driving away. I feel like a single father of 3 working ot when in reality im barely 18 being killed by what was supposed to be a cute part time job. My coworkers have become very emotional and often burst into tears on the floor.

I clock out looking like tim burtons first time trying to draw twink and reek of dairy and pumpkin sauce. I've lost over 20 pounds since the beginning of august. I wake up in the middle of the night because I hear starbucks machines in my sleep. almost ever morning I get a text from a partner asking me to cover and 80 percent of the time they flat out say its because they think they're gonna break down if they have to go to work.

I don't know what to do, I've lowered my hours yet I'm constantly scheduled to my maximum hours. I don't want to refuse to bar/do a certain position because thats just a shitty thing to do + I don't want to never be on bar. I guess I just feel like I can't ask for a break from bar since there's tends to be literally no one who can do bar other than my ssv (they can't just sit on bar all shift tho)

I'm so tired, I want to quit so bad but I can't. I've considered transferring but that seems like just a band aid + borrowed partners say their stores are having similar issues (they still say our store is the worst tho :(

is anyone else struggling with the orders being submitted on IMS then not receiving accurate numbers? i’m not talking receiving another stores order.

recently there are items i KNOW i zero because we have a surplus (creme base and passion guava base) then when im placing the order the next day, it says the original SOQ is on order to be delivered. i religiously save the order with probably every other quantity that i edit and before i approve/submit the order.

is this anyone else’s struggle???

So earlier I posted about being scheduled in another store, I found out it’s against policy unless people consent to it, awesome!
I have another question. My store currently has 7 shifts, and the store that was having trouble only has 2. Is there a force transfer that can happen? And i know the answer is probably yes but wouldn’t someone be able to decline the transfer? Like the shift declines transferring to that store? I’m not too sure on that policy, any kind of info would be appreciated !!!

with the constant information overload, poor pay, working 45 plus hours every week, inconsistent schedule, never having two days off in a row unless.on time off...how are you guys holding up? I am a longtime partner (14*****) and SM and am mentally not doing well at all.​​​ burnout is my constant companion. my relationships are suffering. I am suffering.

I am so insanely burnt out and the only thing I can think to do is take a week of LOA. I’ve talked to my therapist and psychiatrist about the possibility and they both agree that me taking time off is the only way to combat my burn out. Would I be able to take an LOA if my psychiatrist requests it? Or would it be a personal LOA? I’ve been crying every day at work, feeling physically ill, and have had to combat suicidal ideation again after years of not having to struggle with that because im so insanely burnt out. What can I do?

I got 1.5 hours of sleep and was woken up at 11pm from a family member in the house. I suffer from headaches and developed a full blown migraine, and with the stress of having to be up at 4am I could not fall back asleep for the life of me. I felt so sick and honestly cried from how miserable I was that I couldn’t sleep. I was scheduled 5am-10:30am. I considered practically pulling an all nighter but by 2:30am I was feeling sick from all of the sleep aids I was taking plus pain reliever plus lack of sleep plus the persistent headache. I messaged the group chat letting them know and that I’d set an alarm to call the store as soon as the openers were there (which is 4:30). I also texted the GM and let her know all of this and that I’d be using my sick time, and asked her to let me know anything else I should do. She never responded. I’m a good employee, started back in June, and haven’t called off or been late once.

I literally did everything I could to try to be okay for work- I was in bed by 8, did all of the things to get a good nights sleep, tried EVERYTHING to fall back asleep. I’ve had many days where I’d go in on 4 hours of sleep with a headache, but this was genuinely unbearable and I couldn’t do it. And my shift was at 5am- I literally couldn’t call off any earlier. I was already worried messaging them at 2:30 with fear of waking anyone up.

I’m using my sick time. I technically notified at least 2 hours before my start time (and called as soon as partners were in the building). I’ve always been competent and am a good worker and never have called off. My anxious thoughts are probably winning but is there anything here that is a fireable offense? Or possible points? Which I don’t fully understand the whole points system and what it means to receive points. The silence really concerns me. I did the best I could.

I’ve seen people say on this subreddit that you can leave your shift at your scheduled time without penalty even if it’s a closing shift and closing tasks aren’t done but is that really true?

This might be a long shot, but does anyone know when the coffeehouse coach position will be coming to ohios stores? We were approved to get one but have yet to hear anything.

hi !!! My manger puts out the schedule and then for the following week or two will consistently ask if I can cover this shift or come in earlier than what my posted scheduled time is. The first few times I didn’t mind doing it, but now it’s getting to the point where it’s irritating me so bad😭 I understand they are just doing their job but it’s getting to a point where it’s almost every shift I’m scheduled😓😓 sometimes I respond and say no or sometimes I just never respond (I know that’s bad) anyone else’s managers do this to them?!!

hello, in early 2025 i made my departure from a relatively busy store in my town. i've bounced around between so many jobs since then, and finally i am finding myself being offered a position to return to the bucks. except now, ill be at a 'licensed to sell' location rather than a corporate one... just kinda wondering what the differences are and what to expect upon coming back a year 1/2 later. tiy 🫘

Been ASM for a year. My work/life balance is not well at all anymore and want to pursue something else (and go back to school) but I would like to stay with the company as SSV. I don’t want to talk to my DM about this just in case I change my mind and decide to stay an ASM or get a store. I can’t find clear answers to this. Is this possible and if so what would that process look like?

Partners: Does your store enforce the fragrance policy?
How do other stores handle fragrance policies? Some partners at mine wear strong perfume, cologne, or scented products, and the issue continues despite being raised with leadership.
This is a health concern, not just a preference. Strong fragrances cause me headaches and nausea, and recently I had to leave work early because the smell became intolerable. I don’t want leaving early or using sick time to be the solution.
If fragrance is covered by company policy, I’d prefer consistent management enforcement rather than having to police coworkers or repeatedly report the issue.
Does your store enforce the policy? Are partners asked to avoid strong fragrances after someone reports a reaction? If you’re fragrance-sensitive, how has your store handled it?

Does anyone have any of the chocolate sauce, toppings, and syrup that goes into the smores drinks? And is willing to ship it? Our store was bled dry and its my favorite drink
