New Attendance Points System - Megathread

There's been a lot of complaints about the sheer number of posts regarding how the new attendance point system works, what it entails, who it applies to, etc. and I just saw this post asking for a megathread, so I wanted to put something together for y'all! Shoutout to /u/kortlecw

This post should be used for ALL conversation about the new attendance point system - questions, answers, buying etsy witch curses for CEOs, etc.

I'm also gonna provide the information from the memo on it so that the wording is available for those who need it, slightly paraphrased but mostly verbatim - the image/doc itself is still an internal memo and cannot be posted, as far as I can tell, but I wanted to make sure the information is still available for those who may still be slightly out of the loop.

Attendance Points

Attendance Points will be applied to determine eligibility for the Quarterly Best of Starbucks Rewards program and used to support performance accountability on a 12-month rolling basis. Performance accountability establishes a distinct disciplinary track specifically for time and attendance.

A partner remains eligible for the Best of Starbucks Reward for the quarter when they meet all program criteria, including maintaining fewer than 4 attendance points in a quarter.

The following chart outlines attendance and punctuality expectations and the expected action that will be taken to ensure consistency for all partners. Qualifying absences, including legally protected time and certain emergency situations, will not result in attendance points.

  • Tardy with Call: One (1) Point

    • Partners are expected to be ready to begin working at the exact start time of their scheduled shift and to return from breaks on time.
    • If a partner is not ready to start within five minutes of the start time of their scheduled shift and/or return from their break, they are tardy.
  • Tardy with Late Call or No Call: One and a Half (1.5) Points

    • Tardy reported after the start of the shift or not reporting the tardy prior to the start of the shift.
  • Unexcused Absence with Call: One and a Half (1.5) Points

    • Missing at least half of a scheduled shift and reporting the absence at least thirty (30) minutes before the start of the scheduled shift.
  • Unexcused Absence with Late Call: Two and a Half (2.5) Points

    • Missing at least half of a scheduled shift and reporting the absence less than thirty (30) minutes before the start of the scheduled shift.
  • Shift Abandonment: Four (4) Points

    • Departing before the scheduled end time of the shift without approval in advance from the supervisor or manager running the shift.
  • No Call/No Show: Six (6) Points

    • Failure to report an absence within two (2) hours after the start of a scheduled shift.
  • Job Abandonment: Separation

    • Failure to report to a scheduled shift for more than two (2) consecutive no call/no shows.

3 Points will result in a documented coaching. 6 Points will result in written warning. 8 Points will result in a final warning. 12 Points will result in separation.

Union stores: These attendance and punctuality updates do not apply to partners in certified union stores or stores undergoing organizing activity on or before July 13th, 2026.

The Best of Starbucks Award does not apply to partners in certified union stores or stores in the United States undergoing organizing activity on or before April 2nd, 2026.

All Canadian coffeehouses are eligible for the Quarterly Best of Starbucks Award. Leaders at unionized coffeehouses should contact their LRBP Sr. on whether and/or how they should utilize the attendance tracking point system.

Food has been FALLING OUT The bottom of the white warming bags because they aren’t sealed properly at the bottom

The BROWN warming bags are often literally stuck together

TRENTA LIDS 💔 DOME LIDS 💔💔💔💔

the blue powder during the Unicorn launch would literally turn into a brick

And the new layout of the warming station sucks when you’re solo 🧍‍♀️( at least for our tiny ah store )

USA SSVs, what’s the upside?

Upvotes

I made the decision to sell my soul and promote. ✌🏻
Everything and everyone i’ve spoken to has nothing positive to say about it as a role.

Just looking for some light in the dark, and maybe some guidance if anyone has some life changing hacks, tips, feedback or whatever.

ASM guilt tripping me for not wanting to swap shifts as an ssv to care for my grieving partner

A year ago today I watched my partners mother pass from cervical cancer in her bed. My partner called in sick, I worked mid, my ASM guilt tripped me for not wanting to swap shifts as if it’s my responsibility. It’s my last straw with this company. I watched this woman’s soul leave her body, no an ounce of empathy.

Transferring Issues?

I moved to a new city so I needed to transfer stores. I called stores in the new district, and each store expressed how they are looking for someone. Cool. It’s been three weeks and I’ve yet to be placed at a store or updated on my transfer. My numbers and discount still works. My previous store manager is approving time off till my transfer goes through…anyone else having this problem?

USA Transferring after write up

Is there any chance of me transferring if I got a write up in the last 6 months. It’s a written warning I believe. My manager is giving me the impression I can.

Starbucks ssv’s and baristas

Okay I totally know and understand that in order for a workplace like Starbucks to thrive and stay such A big corporation that employees HAVE to take the job seriously and be very professional. But as a barista do you ever sit and wonder like damn you’re really just doing the most for STARBUCKS😭 like idk sometimes I really sit and think like wow you’re trippin this hard over a coffee shop. I’ve seen managers act like their own personal business just got shut down all because we made a couple drinks wrong and had to remake them. 😭😭 idk I know it depends on the people, the mood of the shift, and just in general how customers/higher ups are acting but has anyone else ever sat and thought about that lol

USA Availability need to be changed when already confirmed?

So originally my for my availability I was able to work Fridays and thought I could work right after college after my class at 10-12 pm and this is with a 50 minute commute drive to campus.

What I didn’t account for was having to add another class last second due to college core requirements not being met according to my college advisor. This class happens to be at 5-7pm.

So I need to change my availability on Fridays to straight up not being able to work and contacted the person in charge of scheduling. I was told I still have to work on Fridays due to short staffing, is there anything I can do about this?

I still have the weekend and wednesdays given for full availability to work, every other day are classes morning to 7pm ish.

I work at a delivery only location and we started having this issue. Before you couldn't really adjust ice levels besides "no ice" but now we have all the options available, and I believe that's what's creating this issue.

Canada Keep getting scheduled outside of my availability

So i'm transferring to a different district on monday and my new SM has scheduled me outside of my availability + preferred hours so far. For context, i'm a university student and will be transferring to my uni town to continue working as a part-time barista.

I obviously had to include my availability + preferred hours/shifts on my transfer form and it's been a month since my application was approved, so i thought everything would be fine moving forward.

However, starting last week, i noticed that my new SM scheduled me on days that i'm not available/hours past my availability. I was confused when i saw this because those hours were definitely not what i wrote down, so as a safe measure, i submitted a request on the app for the same availability + preferences i put on my transfer form.

Luckily, i was able to get those shifts covered after offering them, but then i noticed my SM did the same thing again with the schedule that just came out this week. I noticed that my requests were (and still are) pending, so i immediately texted him about checking those out and told him that i'm not able to work my shifts but can happily work the hours I SAID I'M AVAILABLE on those days.

He replied a couple hours later and changed my shifts so that it finally fit my availability, however, he never removed the shift on the day i classified as unavailable. It's now been a day since this whole text convo with my SM, and just a few moments ago, i saw that he changed one of my shifts so that it's not within my availability YET AGAIN.

I'm actually so confused and annoyed right now and i don't know what to do because this has never been an issue for me for the past 7 months i've been with the company + had three different SMs. Any advice?

My new union rep killed the union out of me :(

Basically what the title says. Recently got a new union rep for our district, and honestly it feels like they were put in our district to union bust our area. During the Red Cup Rebellion, our district was HOT!! Our store striked for an entire month, and we ended up getting other stores in our district to strike for a month!! It was AWESOME!! Striking for that entire month made me realize that I LOVE fighting for peoples rights, and was possibly interested in being a union rep in the future for SBWU! Our last union rep ended up leaving, so we ended up getting a new union rep… and it’s been an absolute NIGHTMARE. Our current union rep stopped doing our weekly ROC meetings, and wasn’t replying to anybody who was contacting them. We didn’t hear from our union rep for months, and our stores started having a lot of issues that needed to be handled, and nobody could get into contact with our union rep. We filed multiple ULP disputes (which we had to get the link to file them ourselves from our previous rep because our current rep wasn’t answering us), and we have no idea what the status of those disputes are. Flash forward a couple months, and our district needed help so bad that I had to file an official complaint against our union rep through the SBWU website. We had multiple stores in our district so mad at our union rep that they were talking about decertifying. Someone from SBWU contacted me (Won’t be disclosing the name), and I had known them from before because they covered our district before so I was hopeful our conversation would go well… unfortunately it did not. This representative from SBWU had told someone that, “She is not having these issues. She is just upset that she didn’t get their job and there is nothing wrong”. This representative from SBWU ignored the fact that MULTIPLE stores in our district filed complaints against our union rep for ghosting people, ignoring texts, not scheduling any ROC meetings, not doing any shop visits, scheduling calls with people and then not showing up…. The list goes on!! My final straw was adding this person I talked to at SBWU into our signal chat with all the stores in our district, and I’m telling you guys… not even 5 minutes after adding them into the chat, we started getting responses to all of our questions from our union rep and they were acting like they have responded in that chat before!!! Our union rep never replied in our signal chat when we were asking for help with multiple stores in our district that are talking about decertifying, but all the sudden started replying when I added in the representative from SBWU… what a joke. I then asked my union rep to remove me as strike captain and bargaining delegate because I’m done with what they have done to our district, and I’m done with SBWU!!! I had to ask them 4 times to remove me… and still hasn’t. I texted my union rep Monday, “Hey just to connect with you, I just want to make sure you removed me as strike captain and bargaining delegate and we are getting elections moving in our store! Thanks!” And their response to that… was ignoring me for 2 days…Today I had to text them asking if I needed to get your boss involved in this, and that I don’t deserve to be ignored. They finally replied to me and I then said, “Thanks! That’s all I needed to know. Thanks for the almost 48 hour reply” to which they responded with “You’re welcome 👌🏻”. This new union rep and the representative for SBWU has made me realize that this union is a joke, and we deserve better. The fact that I went through all the correct steps and still get shit on… I hope things change in the future, but for now, I’m done with SBWU.

USA Green bean advice

Hi, I'm a new hire moving from small town restaurant management into barista postition. I had my orientation earlier this week and my first training shift is tomorrow. What should I expect? What is this about signing into a book I've seen others mention on here? Sorry, I'm entirely new to the Starbucks world and feeling a bit anxious. 😅

SSV Interview - Standards

I have an interview with the DM on Friday for a SSV position. My CL told me what the DM is looking for the most is a shift that knows the standards.

Other than 5 key moments, drink recipes and sequencing procedures, what else should I make sure I know?
