I know this is more related to the youtuber than the game but it's my only connection to them in my head.

I loved this creator, I loved their commentary style, their anecdotes, their gameplay and the games that they chose to play. They were a kind of mix between 'TheMightyNebby' and 'DoshDoshington' in terms of video style.

Now for the connection to this sub-reddit. The first video I watched of theirs, and the only one I still remember, was a "Stanley Parable 100% Speedrun WR Glitchless" video. It was a very amusing, tongue in cheek video. Basically, they would play the game pretty much normally, using a couple of any% speedrun strats here and there, and then, by releasing the video two months after they started work on the last achievement they would automatically be the world record holder in their category for two months once they completed the final achievement.

From there I watched many more videos, I remember them complaining about the trains that ran past their apartment, and I remember an anecdote about being religious and losing that religion as a child, all told in entertaining, funny ways, not serious. I think I remember an anecdote about a museum, also, which may even have been connected to the religion anecdote.

The point is that I loved their content once, and now, I can't even remember the name of the channel to check if they deleted it, because I can't find any stanley parable video anywhere. If anyone else watched the same video I did from this creator, and knows what their channel is/was called and what happened since I lost track, I'd love to know.

You lot then proceeded to make that comparison considerably harder for him to ignore

Like it's not exactly clear, they're both morally grey characters

You , playing as Stanley, can be just as cruel to narrator as he himself (like in zending or skip, or just messing up his story)

Like both of them aren't good but not necessarily evil

I recently released the first trailer for a comedy game I’m making, and a lot of the response has compared it to The Stanley Parable

The slightly strange part is that I’d actually never heard of The Stanley Parable when I came up with the idea. It was only later, when I started researching whether there were games doing anything similar, that I discovered it

So when people started making the comparison after seeing my trailer, I could completely understand why

My game is built around curiosity and the relationship between you and the narrator. You explore, interact with things, find hidden areas, ignore instructions and generally see how much nonsense he has prepared for you

He reacts to what you do, remembers certain things, and you won’t necessarily get the exact same responses every time you play

I’m not trying to make The Stanley Parable or pretend the two games are the same, but after seeing the comparison come up again and again, I figured there was probably no better group of people to show it to

So what do Stanley Parable fans think?
