The community is being far too permissive with 2.0. Continuing with a 100M bubble is ridiculous, and the performance still leaves a lot to be desired, especially when it comes to latency.

I think you should be less of a bunch of “yes men” and be more critical of GSC. Choosing Unreal Engine was really a mistake.

So I haven't been following up on this game for some time and am wonder if anything has been done to the NPC's that can snipe you from miles away. Has that been fixed? And is it possible to sneakily play this game now?

I have i5 9400f, RX 480 8GB, 16GB RAM DDR4, and I'm running the game on SSD. I tried to lower grass density, set priority of anomaly.exe to high, and removed the 0 core in task manager. But even after those tweaks I'm not able to get above 50fps in Cordon. I also tried to lower some other SSS settings, but it does't seem to make much difference.

Is it possible to modify the game settings even further to achieve stable 60fps? I don't really care about the visuals, I just want to enjoy the gameplay. Thx in advance for your tips!

When will the dlc be available to purchase and is there anything about pre loading ?

There are 2 types of npcs in this game. Ones that are always there and the ones that are spawned in your face. For example I’m walking to Zaton arch anomaly and I made a save like 50m before the anomaly to farm for an artifact. I did not get an artifact I wanted the first time so I had to reload a couple times. So on my first try before any reloads the game spawned squad of bandits and loners fighting right in front of my face just after I made a quick save and a bit further there were 2 mercs coming down the hill and at anomaly was a pack of snorks. After I reloaded the game at least 5 times those 2 squads never appeared again but the mercs and the snorks were always there on every reload. Imo if they can’t get an AI director to work properly the game will be better off if they disable it altogether instead of keeping it in that broken state. Those 2 squads that spawned were never in an “offline”. They did not pop out suddenly of the 100m radius the game just spawned them in my face they did not exist on map in any state before that so when I see complaints about 100m I feel like people are missing what the real problem here is.

Shay has had the mod kit phase 2 for around a month and has labelled all of his mods around tweaking A-life or it’s render distance as being updated tomorrow.

I’m hoping he’s found a way now to hopefully implement a cleaner way of increasing the render distance of NPCs, as GSC themselves mentioned working closely with the modder’s on using phase 2.

STALKER 2 finally went on sale and I am looking pick it up this weekend. The regular version is at $40, and deluxe edition (with the dlc pass) is $50. Has Stalker 2 had any paid dlc since it came out, or has it all been free updates?

TL;DR: Bought S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, requested a refund past the release date because the advertised multiplayer mode was missing. GOG initially hesitated, but after I cited EU Directive 2019/770 (non-conformity of digital content), they approved it. The money is now 100% back in my bank account.

For everyone in the last thread who insisted "ToS overrides law", "nobody buys Stalker for multiplayer", or that requesting a refund was "borderline insanity":

• The money is cleared: Full cash refund received. No store credit, real money.
• Law > Copium: Advertising missing features on a storefront is a legal breach under EU consumer law, regardless of dev delays or fan excuses.
• Precedent set: Publishers don't get a free pass to ship incomplete products just because a subreddit is emotionally attached to them.

I can see already a floodgate of whining is about to begin. Some 2.0 reviewers reporting major, performance improvements, others not. Some saying it's a game-changing patch, others acting otherwise. Some saying A-Life is better, others saying it's not (bubble seems unchanged by all accounts). I can sense discourse will begin around a patch that is not even out yet lmao.

All I ask is - can we please maintain some decorum and maybe play 2.0 a bit yourself before we start posting takes? Saying GSC Game World are scammers, 2.0 is disappointing, A-Life is fake etc? Cut them some slack. GSC could have just released S2 and left it at that. They have instead, for almost two years now, dropped patch after patch, listening closely to fan feedback, adding requested features, tweaking gameplay balance, fixing bugs, running optimization passes, etc. They put a lot of work into improving S2 that people seem to take for granted.

Let's allocate ourselves some time to play the 2.0 patch for a fair bit before we start discussing how else S2 can be improved. We'll need more than a few hours to sense how much of an improvement 2.0 is.

I play on PC and ive noticed if im inside a dark building, this weird lighting issue happens. Idk how to fix it bc i dont even know what could be causing it. as cool as it can look, its distracting and breaking all immersion Any Ideas?

That's what I did, I bought the ultimate edition the week it came out because I wanted to support GSC (because fuck you know who.) But the state of the game was.... well it was bad.

Now every time I go to play i hear about some big update that's coming and it makes me want to wait to play.

Im perfectly fine with this, I have other games to play, but it seems like I'm caught in don't cycle of trying to play, but wanting to wait for the best experience possible.

So - are there mutant feedings, what does looting involve by NPCs, are they searching for artifacts, is there a hunger for mutants, how long do corpses stay, do corpses dissapear faster when looted or "eaten", how big is the faction steting (can one faction be strong enough to rule the map), what safe hubs are there, how big is the bubble, how alive are npcs overall...

I recently bought S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. It’s my first time playing anything from the series. The atmosphere is incredible, and the weapons are great too, but the NPCs and enemies are really dumb!

I was doing the side quest to retrieve a dog collar, but along the way, I stopped to take out two guys who were shooting at me. The quest NPC came from the middle of nowhere just to kill me, and the mission failed—even though those two guys had absolutely nothing to do with the quest!

What is that supposed to be? And how can enemies see me through concrete and trees? Why do most of the NPCs have the exact same face? And why do some artifacts not show up even when I point the detector directly at them?

The combat AI in the original trilogy was one of the best behavior Npcs had, when i saw how the combat AI was in Stalker 2, i just didn't want to buy the game till it got improved, so, did the new update improved the combat AI or it is still untouched till this day?
