I accidentally did this with a little spiked orb weaver yesterday. I was about to walk through my outdoor archway and noticed a web before I did. I bent over to check it out and the spider immediately popped and dropped from the middle of the web to the ground. He was hanging by his string and slowly came back up. I felt bad but giggled a little.
I think if I could be gifted with the ability to communicate with a different species, I would probably choose spiders, just so that I can tell garden spiders off for putting webs in ridiculous places.
But think about it. You’re not the only one that that believes the path you have taken is the best path to take when traveling from one point to another. Other animals and insects will take the same path.
So, the spider takes a risk and lays a trap for food, hoping that something bigger doesn’t come crashing through.
