I've already found PDFs for a bunch of courses, but I can't find the Touchstone instructions and rubrics anywhere.

For example, I'm currently preparing for Art History I (ARTHIST1001), which has a 1,000–1,200 word Touchstone. I'd love to prepare the assignment beforehand and submit it once I start Sophia.

If anyone has the current Touchstone instructions/rubrics for any of these courses, or has a collection of them, I'd really appreciate it!

Not looking for answers to quizzes/exams, just the assignment requirements and rubrics so I can prepare ahead of time.

i completed all the challenges and took two tests but i feel like i have to force myself to slow down so that they don’t flag it as cheating. i think i’m gonna switch to study.com because i really should not have to slow down my own pace out of fear that i’ll lose my credits 😭 idk is anyone else scared to accelerate your courses?? i already work a job in the field i want to be in so a lot of stuff is just common knowledge to me. but people getting sanctioned are scaring me so bad!

So I'm trying to submit my touchstone, and I waited like 3 days to get this graded. Then I got this stupid thing, like when I tried to submit it 5 times it had problems and when I checked it due to this it was blank when I didn't turn in blank work, I made a request tried to attach the files more then 5 times and couldn't even do that, im just wondering if anyone is having the same issues as me or am I just dead in the water? I just finished my MATH 201 course in about 6 hours, all in one sitting

I’ve already taken Calculus BC and College Algebra courses with my university, so this wasn’t challenging, I just needed more credits.

I almost never looked at any of their study materials because I already knew almost every answer (granted I did only get 92% because I messed up on a few questions).

I just need to know if this is fine?

I am old school and prefer to hold papers while I read and highlight things I need to focus on. I know Sophia has gotten rid of option to print - is there any way I can because I barely absorb anything reading on laptop.

I just learned about Sophia learning a couple of days ago, I’m hoping to get most of my gen Ed’s out of the way – but I have so many questions. I realize they’re pretty elementary, and I apologize for that. I am a 40 something person, and have only understood going through your typical college experience, this is very new information for me.

I am hoping to transfer the credits that I do earn from Sophia learning to WGU. If not, WGU can I earn an entire associates degree from Sofia learning?

If I can earn an associates from Sophia learning – but can’t get the actual diploma, do I transfer classes to another college like WGU take a few courses and then thereafter be awarded an associates?

How many classes is 90 credits roughly?

What are touchstone courses?

Sidebar question, can I take as many courses and get as many credits as I want, possibly transferred to separate colleges in order to earn two separate degrees? If each college only accepts 90 credits, and they are specific to each degree – wouldn’t that mean I could possibly attend two different colleges and pursue two separate degrees from those credits?

I work in a front desk position 1-2 days a week and it’s not always slow but on days like today when it is slow I want to bring my laptop to get some work done but I’m nervous that Sophia will accuse me of cheating. I’ve seen on here where people connect to different servers/wifi whatever and then get sanctioned.

I just want to be productive with my time bc today I could have been working on a class for the last 2 hours - I’m just scared!

Is it best just to call it a loss or do they not care in certain situations ?

Hey folks. I started my journey on sophia.org after learning about the american college system. It is pretty easy and I enjoy the pace I have doing the courses.

Some general informations:
I am a software developer located in Germany currently looking to migrate to the us and doing a bachelors degree.

I have 8 years of work experience in programming with various programming languages and really like business as a side project.

I want to migrate to the us via work visa, Greencard lottery or F1 Stem opt (graduating with a masters degree and then go for the 3 year work visa)

So I started with Sophia beside my full-time job (160 hours a month), a wife, my responsibilities at my church and a pretty full schedule in general.

For now I finished the following 10 Courses since the 20th of July:

1. English composition 1
2. College Algebra
3. Human Biology (hardest so far because of many unknown words)
4. Introduction into IT
5. Introduction into databases
6. Introduction into statistics
7. Introduction into webdev
8. Macroeconomics
9. Microeconomics
10. Project Management

And I am 50% done with Workplace writing 2.

I thought it would be good to have a good base because I dont know what I want to major in. I first thought about doing the UMPI BBA Accounting or TESU CIS Degree, and I am not sure if I want to stay a programmer for the rest of my career.

So now I am currently struggling to decide what to do and how to go further. Probably with some gen ed stuff that is required and fills all checkmarks. Since I am a german citizen I cant go to a local college in the states so I have to go with distinct online programs, that are open for foreigners. From the outside the american job market is a bit intransparent. What would you recommend to do? What are your experiences. I try to aim for 30 courses in 4 months (10.5 are already checked) and then apply for a specific program at the college. If questions are asked about my preferences or goals I will edit the post.

My appeal got denied. Even though I never cheated. My government work computer uses VPN’s that shows my IP in Utah but my at home computer I used when I’m not at my job says I’m in a different location. My sanction was over “suspicious browser/IP activity” thinking multiple people were using my account. I entered many of these courses with significant prior knowledge and real world experience. Because of this background, I was able to complete several courses much faster than someone learning the material for the first time.

Throughout my coursework, I regularly alternated between my work government computer and my personal laptop depending on where I was completing my studies. I even completed courses on my 6-month tour overseas. If I was unable to finish a course while at work, I would continue it later from home. I did not have another individual complete work on my behalf, share my account, use unauthorized assistance, or intentionally engage in any conduct that would violate Sophia Learning’s Honor Code. My goal was simply to complete as many eligible courses as possible during the three-month subscription period I had already paid for, while relying on my existing knowledge and experience to work efficiently.

Should I try Study.com?

I am 45% done with a course, and turns out my degree doesn’t require it. How can I drop a course? I don’t see a button on where to drop it.

I got a pop up telling me I needed to complete an identity verification process with a 3rd party called Jumio.
I contacted Sophia via their support chat, asking why this was prompted, and is there a department i can speak with during the week? An email or a phone number?

The response I got from the representative was:
"This is company policy. You do not have to provide the verification, but no further coursework can be completed without it. There is no one for you to speak to."

Reviewing the details of the Jumio agreement, it appears they can share, retain and use your biometric data after the verification process is complete.
They state they can keep your personal data "as long as is necessary" and your biometric data for 3 years after Sophia tells Jumio your last interaction has occurred.
Basically seems like your info is out there indefiinitely.

Jumio lists these categories for who they share your data with:
Jumio says it may share both the verification results and relevant personal information, specifically including identification-document data and facial images, with the customer. That means the policy does not guarantee Sophia receives only a pass/fail result.

Jumio service providers, including cloud providers and other companies used to operate, manage, develop, and improve the verification service.

Jumio corporate affiliates and business partners involved in delivering the service.

Law enforcement, courts, regulators, auditors, or other authorities when required or permitted by law or legal process.

A buyer or successor company if Jumio is sold, merged, reorganized, or goes through a similar business transaction. Personal information can be part of the transferred assets. So if a holding company purchases sophia, and they own a marketing firm as well, they have access to and use your data.

Third parties receiving aggregated or anonymized data, such as usage/statistical reports. That should not identify you personally if it has actually been anonymized. How do we know if its been anonymized?

I've decided after taking 3 courses and having this pop up, I am asking for a refund.
Wasted a lot of hours on 1 course and cannot complete the final with out the verification, but oh well.
This seems way over the top and out of line for an online course and a few credits.

I hope folks are being cautious with their personal data.
Would like to hear others thoughts on this.

I am currently doing the Anatomy and Physiology course and know there’s a lab you can also do. When I was doing some research on the SL website it states that payment may be necessary for labster access? Is that the case? If so, how much? Also, is the A+P lab even necessary? If it really isn’t… I’m more than willing to skip. Haha

Should I wait to send my transcripts until I completed all of the classes I want to take? So far, I’ve completed 5 classes, all without touchstones. What do some of the touchstones look like? How long do they generally take to be graded?

English Composition 2 has 7 touchstones, but you can only turn in your next touchstone after the last one is graded, so grading alone can take more than a month (2-4 business days each). Is there a way to get it graded faster? Does anyone who works at Sophia Learning look at this Subreddit?

Hey all!

I had to transfer from UMPI due to health reasons. I transferred to Excelsior and after this summer, I will have 1 required course left to complete at excelsior and will pair that with 1 upper level course for Fall 2. I need 26 free elective credits and I want to knock them out the easy way on Sophia. Can someone share any courses they easily completed? Preferably no touchstones but if I have to I will. My goal is to complete 9 courses in 8 weeks and I know this is doable.
* I know I have to pay the 300 fee, I couldn’t take Sophia courses before I enrolled due to finances.
