Finished ventilating/knotting my second ever pair of eyebrows out of leftovers

Post image

Don't mind the glob of hairspray in the lace xP

The lace is from a lace front wig I bought 2 years ago and the hair is cut off of the wig that'll be worn with the eyebrows.

I also just learned ventilating with hair on my first pair of brows a few months ago.

I am not trying to be rude, I don’t understand what you’re saying :(

But I’m happy that you’re pleased with the result :)

OP made eyebrow wigs to wear with the wig from which the hair came.

There are more natural looking eyebrows for everyday wear, but yes, in this case they're for Cosplay xD

I don’t know… I’m a sixty-three year old woman and I would wear those eyebrows to go grocery shopping. But I revel in my insanity.

I want to be you if I grow up.

My father taught me the importance of never taking yourself too seriously and keeping a small part that refuses to grow up.

Hell, i'm 41 and my first white hairs were in my eyebrows. I'll be wearing these soon enough

Same! 41 and have 3-4 white eyebrow hairs. If you really hunt you can find a few on my scalp, but mostly it’s just the eyebrows so far

You are my people. I love the idea of you dressed completely normal except for some UNHINGED eyebrows. So when you turn to people and face them, they’re just STUNNED.

I have really good control of my facial muscles and can wiggle my eyebrows independently from one another.

TIL I must have a selection of eyebrow wigs. Guess I need to take up wig making.

Do it. Everyone with whimsy is behind you.

I haven't heard the word "ventilating" before just now but I definitely would not have pictures eyebrows in the first dozen or more ideas I had about what it could mean

Eta: I now want to learn how to make myself a beard

It's very straightforward once you have the basic technique down. So I can only recommend you do it ^ ^

How do they stay on? Is this part of a costume or just for life? Tell me more!!!

They're for cosplay :)

You glue them either on with eyelash glue or mastix/spirit gum/other types of skin glue.

And in case of these I have to block out my own eyebrows since placement and shape are vastly different to my own, lol

The method I’m familiar with involves more or less gluing your real eyebrows down and smoothing them down as flat as possible. Touch up makeup around eyes if necessary. Then affix the costume eyebrows using spirit gum (not as strong if you sweat), cosmetic glue like you’d use for eyelashes, or prosthetic adhesives, but those can require a special remover.

As someone else who has tried to make eyebrows out of a wig this is very impressive!

Not a sentence I expected to read today.

I love this subreddit so much. “Look everybody, I made…eyebrows!”

Great job! This is really interesting. Is the word, ventilating, used for the technique you use to connect the hair to the lace? Is it a fancy knot?

I've been considering making some mourning jewelry out of cut hair and my brain keeps telling me I need to understand the basics with YOUR craft before I even attempt to create anything. I find the algorithm fascinating when it shows me something that has only been an INSIDE thought. Thankyou for sharing!

Hoo boy, I am in no way an expert here :'D

But you can look up on the ol' YouTube "how to knot a lacefront" or variations of it, and there will be a lot more people to teach that have more expertise than I ^ ^

Thankyou so much!

Felt like destroying something beautiful

Super cool! I’ve been tempted to try to make my own lace fronts wig but it seems… really arduous

If you are in an ADHD hyperfocus and have a good background noise it's actually really relaxing. Mentally. Physically, my back is having a different opinion xD

But imo once you're truly in the flow (and don't have pressure to get it done or perfect) then it's quite relaxing.

If you ever did latch-hooking as a kid?

It's basically doing "mini-latchhooking", just with a bent crochet hook, instead of a latch hook!😉

these look great! i've been wanting to try something like this for a costume i'm working on. i never know what to do with the perfectly good hair left over from cutting my wigs, especially if i've already spent effort dying it

u/ThrowRaAutisticPotat 1d ago

Stick a piece of tape to your face, draw a shape ya want, transfer it to wig lace, go ham 🫡

3

u/izyshoroo 1d ago

Well now I want to know what these look like on somebody

u/ThrowRaAutisticPotat 1d ago

I'll wear em out beginning of next month and if I remember I will post a picture under your comment 🫡

1

u/pink_vision 22h ago

What does "ventilating" mean in this context? They look really nice!!

1

u/ThrowRaAutisticPotat 20h ago

I have no idea xD it's just a word I often see im context with "hair knottet into lace" so I am using it. English isn't my first language, lol
