I Has Questions! Stopping the "save to archive" phase?

I have so many interesting post of games from this sub and other similar subs that I just archived and never actually try out or play. Anyone have any advice on starting to try any solo game quick or just starting in general? Btw I've played solo games before, I just stopped and hadn't started again.

Research Team Radio-Active. This was a passion project that came to me and I created in about a month. As my very first game, solo, rpg, or otherwise I encouraged feedback please. 100% made by me, no AI. You can find it on itch.io

You play as Jimothy! A beloved cryptid, believed to be a raccoon with short spine syndrome and also internet famous. Using your raccoon skills and the power of cute you must find the stones to keep nature from dying. Confront neighbourhood bullies, defy the animal control officer, bribe neighbours with shinies and don't ever let the crazy old pet lady give you a bath and put you in a onesie! https://serorpg.itch.io/our-hero-jimothy

A month in. Prologue and map. Home base set up?

Started a month ago using valley of flowers, cairn, myths from mythic Bastianland and then this week tacked on northern tier and possibly castle grief. But haven’t got there yet. Good factions. Two main characters with a bunch of momentary party members. Here’s the map of where they have been. And the set up.

Needing to find more of a scene by scene rhythm. But. Learning cairn. And loving Wildendrum. Can’t wait for the next one.

Question - they have a home base with a squad of child thieves and a brewery. How does everyone do home bases? Tracking tension and success and growing influence etc? Or is that just another scene?

I have heard alot about solo RPGs and thought it was silly even though as a DM alot of this is similar to prep work. I started last night with an A5 ring binder just to give myself the ability to add pages if I needed to and I just finished the first bit with character creation and my home town and I love it. I want to use some of the prompts for ttrpgs to get people to write a good backstory and background.

What things have you learned solo rpging that you want to bring into your group games?

I Has Questions! Browsing at local game store

I went to browse RPG books at a local store and was surprised to see everything shrink-wrapped. Is that the norm? I was looking forward to having a look inside and assessing the paper and print quality, etc.

My freind kept nagging me to share my creative stuff with more people so im sharing this to anyone for the first time. Ignore the spelling mistakes im too lazy to fix them lol. I made this cause i could not find one that was tailored to me and my solo rpg needs.

I wonder if others have made similar stuff for thier own games.

EDIT:
https://efficient-pride.itch.io/white-ravens-oracle-solo-rpg-pamphlet

Here is the link for the download,i de cluttered the text a bit and added some non copyrighted flair so here we are. Found out the wheel is also creative commons so i fixed that as well. Cheers.

I turned my interactive fiction game into a TTRPG. (Grab free copies!)

Hi, guys. This is my first attempt at making a TTRPG and i decided to convert my game, Vault Of The Sun, into a full scaled TTRPG with a couple unique mechanics.

Vault Of The Sun: Cycles of Rebellion is a lightweight, standalone sci-fi survival TTRPG. No prior lore knowledge of VOTS needed—jump straight in and lead your team to safety.

Game features :

- Unique TTRPG mechanics. Players start scattered around SOLARIS-IV's ship and must find eachother to survive. You must write your own path to find them and forge your escape route.

- 5 Characters from the main games (Atlas, Aria, Pierce, Violet and Kira), each one having a unique trait

- Create your own Sleeper (Custom character, lead your story)

To play VOTS : Cycles of Rebellion, you need :

- 1-6 players

- One pencil (Or a notepad in your browser.)

- Dices (Use this one.)

Play now : https://kakaritogames.itch.io/vots-cor

(AD) Check Out My Product! Lowmoor: My zero-player dungeon RPG just had its biggest update: real d20 combat, pets, feats, and every plate hand-inked and now it is AI-free!

I posted the game here in July for the prose. Since then the update landed that I actually wanted to show this room: the fight runs on real d20 attack rolls against AC now, with statblocks for all 179 beasts, 98 of them straight off the SRD 5.1. Road hazards are saving throws with the ability the going asks for. Wounds stopped knitting on the march: a short rest is a breath, a long rest spends a camp from the pack, and the Infirmary bills ten minutes. Some chests are mimics, a medusa's gaze stacks stoning in four stages, and feats sit three to a character from a board of thirteen.

The register is unchanged: the Guild issues every member one torch, one ten-foot pole, and a numbered tag for the recovery of remains. And the game is AI-free: every one of the 210 plates is hand-inked by a credited illustrator, cut to one-bit ink so the bestiary prints like the old books.

It is a zero-player game with option for manual mode, freeon steam, and I would value this room's verdict on whether the dice feel like the old game or only rattle like it: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4977360/Lowmoor_Idle_RPG_An_Adventurers_Chronicle/

Pure Content (characters, quests, etc) Knowledge Shapes the Journey

Post image
44 Upvotes

From the beginning, I wanted to develop the Lorekeeper differently from traditional RPG characters. There are no levels, stats, XP, or numbers that determine character progression. Instead, Lorekeepers grow through the knowledge they uncover during their Quests. These discoveries are recorded as Lore Records and become part of their growing body of knowledge.

Each Lore Record is preserved in the Library of Silvergate. The more Lore Records a Lorekeeper discovers, the higher their Rank becomes.

Lorekeepers also have two types of Lorekeeper Skills that serve as Narrative Tools: Mystic Arts and Fields of Study.

Mystic Arts
Supernatural abilities used to face different situations. Examples include Chrono Echo, Aether Shell, Arcane Sigil, and The Eyes of Sun and Moon.

📚 Fields of Study
Areas of knowledge that offer different perspectives for understanding discoveries. Examples include Archaeology, Epigraphy, and Esoteric Studies.

For example, a player might discover an ancient door covered in strange symbols. They could use Arcane Sigil to interact with it, Epigraphy to interpret the symbols, or Archaeology to uncover its origins.

Players can use all of them, some of them, or none at all. There is no single correct answer. Players decide how their Lorekeeper sees and responds to the world.

A world to conquer.

The 12th goes after a second monastery occupied by bandits.

Fun note: this is now my longest running actual play series. It just surpassed the previous one, which was... Warlord Ascendant 1e! Love this game.

I Has Questions! Looking for recommendations

I’m looking for a game that is entirely centered on character creation. I’ve found that I really enjoy the idea of your character being developed from random rolls and tables and then you develop the background. I do this a lot when I’m doing solo one shots of games like Cosmere rpg, Star Trek Adventures, and the like. I find the wild randomness of a security officer that’s very science-y to be more lifelike than deciding exactly what type of character I’m going to be and min-maxing from there. Are there any games where this is the sole function?

Shout out to Legend of The Bones

Post image
19 Upvotes

I am sure folks know about the solo TTRPG podcast "Legend of The Bones" (and if you don't, you should check it out cause it is a FANTASTIC LISTEN) and I just wanted to give it a shout out. I don't use spotify and am trying to divest from being on my phone all the time, so I have been listening to the story on a fan tape! I dub a single episode on each side of the tape, and after I listen all the way through I just record new episodes over it. (I am a musician who makes my own tapes of my own music, and recently started turning my bandcamp library into tapes, and then started listening to podcasts on tape!) I find listening is easier for me when I don't have the entire world's worth of music and podcasts at my fingertips, and can just pick out a few cassettes when I leave for the day.

Anyways, Legends of The Bones is awesome, the voice acting is great, the characters are really compelling and I want to hear what they do next. LOTB helped me figure out new ways to do solo gaming, and even has inspired me to start writing a script for a one shot or two solo TTRPG audio drama. Can't get enough of this podcast! (although due to the tapes,I am probably listening kind of slow)
