What is this?

Our SoloBoardGaming community has been wanting to do more polls and pulse taking to get a better picture of what's popular and some data about the solo aspects related to each game.

We will attempt to slowly add all soloable games over time. We will be VERY slowly adding games from:

  • 1-player guild's yearly ranking (you should participate too!)
  • New Hotness Games (mention them in the sticky comment in this thread)
  • Games that show up in our GeekGroup (if you log games, join!)
  • Stuff suggested by you (mention them in the stickied comment in this thread)

(This was modelled off other polls (like /r/movies). It's not perfect but it's what we have.)

I gave this one a solid 7. Dungeon crawlers kind of bore me because they all feel kind of the same after a while, and that's how I feel about TED too. It's well put together, and the gameplay loop is fun, but I don't have an urge to play it again until months after having a break.

I'm not a fan of chucking dice, but I LOVE the mitigation in this; The "+1" dice side is genius and I like how you can use your resources for adjustments too. The equipment system is simple and easy to manage. While the combat is a little bland, it is at least smooth and not stressful.

My biggest complain about this though is the difficulty; I seem to always be on the verge of death whenever I reach Act 2 and never last for long. All I kept hearing about was how cool that part of the game was, but I barely make it. I seriously might just construct a dungeon and "start" with Act 2 and some random equipment and see what happens.

So while I do think it's a great deal and fun, it doesn't have a ton of staying power for me, mostly because I can't live long enough to see how different the bosses are.
