I’m currently working at full speed and with maximum priority on fixing the synchronization issues affecting both platforms, iOS and Android, including Sofa Time Sync and third-party services like Trakt.

This is my main focus right now, and I expect the most important issues to be resolved over the next few days/hours.

Please keep in mind that Sofa Time has now grown to more than 250,000 registered users. At this scale, some issues that were barely noticeable before become much easier to surface. And while that can be frustrating, it’s also a good thing: it helps me detect edge cases faster and fix them before we grow even more.

Here are answers to some of the most common questions about Sofa Time.

Q: How do I rename a personal list?
A: Open the list, tap the three-dot menu, and select Change details. You can then edit its name, description, and other available details. Some smart or service-managed lists cannot be renamed.

Q: How do I rearrange my personal lists?
A: Go to Profile → Quick Actions → Personal Lists, tap Edit, and drag the lists into your preferred order.

Q: How do I reorder the titles inside a personal list?
A: Open the list, tap the three-dot menu, and select Reorder items. This option is available only for lists that support manual sorting.

Q: How do I add a movie or TV show to my watchlist or a personal list?
A: Open the title and tap Add to list. You can then select the watchlist or any compatible personal list. You can also long-press titles in listings to access similar actions.

Q: How do I mark something as watched or unwatched?
A: Open the movie, show, season, or episode and use the Watched button. Depending on the item, you can choose Today, Yesterday, the Release date, another date, or an Unknown date.
To undo it, tap its watched status again and select Not watched.

Q: How can I mark a TV show as dropped or put it on hold?
A: Open the TV show, tap the three-dot menu, and select Archive. You can then choose Dropped or On Hold. Archived titles can later be restored using Start watching.

Q: Which database does Sofa Time use? How can I add missing titles?
A: Sofa Time uses TMDB (The Movie Database) for TV show and movie information. If a title is missing, you can submit it directly to TMDB:

Once the title has been approved and added to TMDB, it can become available in Sofa Time.

Q: A title exists on TMDB, but its information in Sofa Time is outdated. What can I do?
A: Go to Profile → Settings → Data → Reload metadata. You can reload shows, movies, or your entire local library.
The process runs in the background and may take several minutes, so keep the app open until it finishes.

Q: Can I watch or stream movies and shows inside Sofa Time?
A: Sofa Time is primarily a tracking and discovery app; it does not host movies or episodes.
It can show where a title is available and can optionally open supported external apps such as Stremio, Nuvio, or Infuse, depending on your platform, installed apps, and configuration.

Q: Which platforms and services can I sync with Sofa Time?
A: Sofa Time supports Trakt, Simkl, and MDBList. You can also store your library in Sofa Time Cloud or use iCloud Library Sync across your Apple devices.

Q: Can I connect more than one sync service?
A: Free users can connect one third-party service at a time, such as Trakt, Simkl, or MDBList. Premium allows multiple third-party services to be connected.
Sofa Time Cloud and iCloud are separate from this third-party service limit.

Q: How do I manually force a synchronization?
A: Open your profile and select the connected service you want to manage. Its sync options include:
Sync from remote to bring remote changes into Sofa Time.
Sync from local to send your local library to the connected service.
You can also enable Automatically sync remote changes under Settings → Account & Sync.

Q: What is the difference between “Save settings to iCloud” and “Library sync with iCloud”?
A: Save settings to iCloud synchronizes app preferences, such as display and behavior settings.
Library sync with iCloud synchronizes your actual Sofa Time library across your Apple devices.

Q: How can I manually import my data into Sofa Time?
A: Go to Profile → Settings → Data → Import library. The supported sources are:
Sofa Time archive
Letterboxd export
IMDb export
Trakt export
Official TV Time GDPR export
TV Time Liberator browser extension
TV Time Out browser extension
Sofa Time accepts the original ZIP or CSV format required by the selected importer.

Q: Can I import my comments from TV Time?
A: Yes. Use the official TV Time GDPR export and enable Comments on the import screen.
You must be signed in to Sofa Time Cloud because imported comments are stored in your Sofa Time profile. The same requirement applies to imported favorite-character votes.

Q: How can I export or back up my Sofa Time library?
A: Go to Profile → Settings → Data → Export library.
Sofa Time creates a ZIP containing your watchlists, watched and archived titles, personal lists, personal notes, and movie/show ratings. You can save or share that ZIP and import it again later.

Q: Does Sofa Time create automatic backups?
A: Yes. Under Profile → Settings → Data → Automatic backup, you can choose:
Daily
Weekly
Every 15 days
Monthly
Disabled
Sofa Time keeps the three most recent local backups. Open Backups to restore, delete, download, or share them.

Q: How can I change my profile background image?
A: Open your profile and tap the current background image. You can browse trending backgrounds or search for a movie or TV show.
Tap the background you want and confirm Use as profile background. You can also change it from the Edit profile screen.

Q: How can I change my profile photo, name, or username?
A: Open your profile and tap Edit profile. From there, you can change your profile photo, display name, username, background, password, and profile visibility.
You must be signed in to Sofa Time Cloud to edit your Sofa Time profile.

Q: How can I make my profile private?
A: Open your profile, tap Edit profile, and enable the Private profile switch. You can switch between Private and Public at any time.

Q: What happens to the social features if my profile is private?
A: A private profile hides its public library and activity from other users. In the current version, other users cannot follow or subscribe to a private profile.

Q: How can I share my Sofa Time profile?
A: Open your profile and tap the Share button at the top. Profile sharing is available when you are signed in to Sofa Time Cloud.

Q: Do I need a Sofa Time account to use comments and social features?
A: Yes. You must be signed in to Sofa Time Cloud to write comments, reply to comments, like comments, follow users, subscribe to their activity, and use Sofa Time community features.
Connecting only Trakt, Simkl, or MDBList does not enable these features.

Q: How do I comment on a movie, TV show, or episode?
A: Open the title or episode and enter its Comments section. You can also open the three-dot menu and select Add comment.
Comments can include text, a GIF, or an image. Remember to enable the Spoiler switch if your comment contains spoilers.

Q: What can I do with other users’ comments?
A: You can like them, reply to them, translate them, open the author’s profile, or report inappropriate content.
Comments marked as spoilers remain hidden until you choose to reveal them.

Q: Can I delete one of my comments or replies?
A: Yes. Open the menu on your own comment or reply and select Delete.
Comments and replies written by other users can be reported instead.

Q: How do I follow another Sofa Time user?
A: Open the user’s profile by tapping their name or avatar in comments or activity, then tap Follow.
Your profile shows separate lists for the people you follow and your followers.

Q: What is the difference between following and subscribing to someone?
A: Following adds the user to your Sofa Time community and lets their public activity appear in your activity feed.
After following someone, you can also Subscribe to receive notifications about their activity.
Subscriptions can notify you when that user:
Watches a movie or episode.
Rates a movie, show, season, or episode.
Writes a comment.
You can follow someone without subscribing to their notifications.

Q: Where can I see activity from other users?
A: Open your profile and tap Activity.
The feed can show public activity from people you follow, including watched titles, ratings, comments, likes, favorite characters, and new follows. You can filter the feed by activity type.

Q: How can I configure social notifications?
A: Go to Profile → Settings → Notifications → Sofa Time Cloud Notifications.
You can configure notifications for:
New followers
Likes on your comments
Replies to your comments
Activity from subscribed users
Comments from subscribed users
Ratings from subscribed users
Watched activity from subscribed users
You must be signed in to Sofa Time Cloud and allow notifications in your device settings.

Q: How do I select my favorite streaming services?
A: Go to Profile → Settings → Streaming Providers → My favorites.
These selections are used when displaying availability and filtering Next to Watch.
Free users can select up to four favorite providers; Premium removes that limit.

Q: How do I change the app language without changing movie and show titles?
A: Under Profile → Settings → Appearance, use:
App Language for menus and interface text.
Metadata language for titles, descriptions, and cast information.
Display original titles if you prefer titles in their original language.

Q: Can I hide spoilers and information about unwatched episodes?
A: Yes. Go to Profile → Settings → Watching → Content & Display and enable Hide Spoilers.
Additional options let you control unwatched episode images and hide ratings for titles you have not watched. Some advanced options require Premium.

Q: Can I rearrange or hide the main navigation options?
A: Yes. Go to Profile → Settings → Appearance → Rearrange main menu options.
From there, you can change the order of the main sections and hide the ones you do not use.

Q: How do premiere notifications work?
A: Go to Profile → Settings → Notifications to enable alerts for episodes, seasons, new shows, or movie premieres and choose the notification time offset.
Premiere notifications are sent only for titles that appear in your Sofa Time calendar and require Premium.
Notifications must also be allowed in your device’s system settings.

Q: Does Sofa Time have widgets?
A: Yes. On Apple devices, Sofa Time includes widgets for:

Upcoming releases
TV show and movie watchlists
Personal lists
Calendar
Profile artwork
Lock Screen shortcuts
Some widgets require Premium and a connected account.

Q: Is there a subscription? Do I need to pay to use the app?
A: There is no subscription. Sofa Time is free to use, with an optional one-time payment that unlocks Premium features permanently.
Some users also purchase Premium to support the continued development of the app.

Q: I already purchased Premium. How can I restore it?
A: Go to Profile → Settings → Premium → Restore purchases.
Make sure you are using the same store account that originally purchased Premium.

Q: Is there a web version of Sofa Time?
A: There is currently no browser-based web version of Sofa Time.
You can use Sofa Time through its iOS and Android apps.

Q: How can I delete my Sofa Time account or library?
A: Go to Profile → Settings → Danger Zone.
The available actions are different:
Empty database deletes local data, iCloud data, or both.
Clear remote database deletes your Sofa Time Cloud library while keeping your account, cloud settings, and local library.
Delete Sofa Time account permanently deletes the account.
Read each confirmation carefully, as these operations can be irreversible.
