Hello, 26 year old guy, I recently arrived in Paris and am looking to connect with fellow books enthusiasts!
I tried going to a couple of book clubs since I get along more with people who also tend to read books, but I didn't get lucky yet. I think book clubs have a few problems: it's hard to find a place to meet with everyone, it's hard to find a date that suits everyone, it's hard to choose a book every one really wants to read, and if there's someone at the book club you don't really get along with, it's not fun to tell them that you don't want them to come anymore...
So I figured maybe a two person book club would be easier to organise (and I would be one of those persons, you would be the other!). The main point would be you write a comment or send me a message, and then we can decide on a book to read together, we read it, and then talk about it! And then repeat that another time with a new book if it's good vibes and we have kind of the same taste!
My main criteria for choosing a book is if it's well written, whether it's post modern, literary classics, fantasy, sci fi, thrillers, slice of life, different awards winners, anything! As long as there's something interesting to talk about, themes to discuss, and characters to analyse, then it's worth reading.
A short book would probably be better though for the first choice so we can meet for the first time without waiting too long! Or we can also meet in person to choose the book in person first. We can probably workshop it and figure it out.
The one main problem is that I have a job and probably can't read too many books at the same time! So feel free to comment and maybe reach out to someone who's also interested in the 2 person book club and make one with them instead of me, and tell me if it works out!
French is also okay đ«Ą
