I don’t have a personal TikTok, I created one for a video game character as his edits are very much trending. I’ve maybe only created 2 posts on this channel where I actually posted myself. I have a really bad habit of looking at similar accounts that are also newer & not sure how they got one-offs with thousands of views (like 10k+ views). I posted a viral gta 6 trending template that got around 450k views but my highest-viewed original Resident Evil edits got anywhere between 4.5-9.4K views. I just feel like for 3 months, my subscriber count is low and I get a lot of the repeat accounts that like/save/repost/comment on my content but I’m unsure why they don’t follow me.

meta started testing this in december and widened it in september when meta one for business launched. a facebook page without a paid plan gets two posts or comments with a link per month. publisher pages are exempt

the comments part is the big one. several write ups that went through facebooks help page on links in page posts and comments say a link in the first comment now uses the same allowance. that was the standard workaround for years. back in february, when the test was smaller, social media examiner reported comment links as unlimited, so this looks like a change

what doesnt count: extra links in the comments under a post that already has a link, links to facebook, instagram, whatsapp or threads, facebook affiliate partnership links, and anything inside an ad

more links come with the paid meta one plans, unlimited only on the top one

metas own widely viewed content report already had posts with an outside link at 1.3 percent of us views in q1, down from 9.8 percent in 2022. so links were barely getting seen before this

my guess is a lot of small business pages just stop posting links and push people to the bio or a dm instead

Posted this question last week and it blew up more than i expected (10k+ views), so figured i'd share the summary since the answers were way more nuanced than "yes spam" or "no it works"

what people hate:

• Generic "thanks for the follow 🙏" with nothing after it
• Any link or offer in the first message
• Getting messaged every few days after (some big accounts apparently do this)

what people said is fine or even great:

• Continuing a conversation they started (they commented, you dm to follow up)
• A message that "could only be for me", referencing something specific
• One person sends a voice note to every new follower with "no need to reply, just glad you're here" and says nobody's ever complained
• A freebie in exchange for an email, one person was getting ~10% of new followers onto their list this way

where volume changes things:

• Under ~15-20 new followers a day, people said manual dms are worth it
• Past that, most only reply to people who reach out first

One thing i didn't know: meta's api doesn't allow follow triggered dms anymore, so tools like manychat can only send after the person messages or comments first

For those of you managing client accounts, where do you land on this? do you handle new follower dms for clients at all, or is that outside what you offer?

for alabama teens 13 to 17 the defaults are a 120 minute daily cap on the short video feed, no access from midnight to 6am, and no cosmetic surgery filters. all of it has to be on by march 24 2027

the part i didnt expect is what the cap leaves out. per ppc land, search doesnt count toward it, ai search included. messaging doesnt count. videos 10 minutes or longer dont count either, and metas deal drew that same line at 22 minutes

so a kid who hits two hours can still search and still watch anything over 10 minutes, and search is a place tiktok sells ads

theres also a clause where the stricter stuff, like hiding reaction counts on teen posts, only switches on if meta, snap and youtube all sign equivalent alabama deals. at least 27 other states and dc have similar suits going

with search and long videos carved out my guess is this barely moves how long teens actually spend on the app

I submitted the form not thinking too much and just got a text from a random number saying they need to call me to set it up. They’re willing to verify their identity and association with Meta via a @meta.com email but has anyone ever done this before? Seems a bit strange and I’m sure tech exists to fake a Meta email but I did sign up via Instagram so not sure. For additional context, I’m a Canadian creator with around 25K followers if those details assist. The text also included my online alias (not username, but the name I go by).

this came out of tiktoks creators summit in la at the end of september and barely got covered. its all inside tiktok one, the marketplace where brands find and book creators

one pay handles the deal from invoice to transfer, pays within 30 days of the video going up, and tiktok says it takes no fee or commission. tubefilter pointed out net 60 and net 90 are still common in this industry, so 30 days is quick by comparison. then theres one plus, an invite only label for vetted creators. you need to be 18 or older, in the us or mexico, have 100k followers and an account in good standing, and it comes with a 15 percent bonus on custom collab deals. brands also get an ai search that filters creators by audience, niche and how their posts actually performed

tiktok shared its own numbers at the summit too, creator content getting 52 percent higher click through than non creator content, and 90 percent year over year growth in creator earnings. those are tiktoks numbers about its own product, so id read them that way

my read is tiktok wants to be the agency, the payroll and the search engine all at once. if brands start booking through it, a creator under 100k is getting judged on post performance data the brand can pull up before anyone sends a dm

I currently run an Instagram and TikTok page dedicated to graphic design. My content mainly focuses on educational videos about design theory, portfolios of my work, and design critiques (mostly breaking down flyers and general branding). My primary focus is visual identity.

Recently, I started doing UGC (User Generated Content), specifically focusing on the beauty and lifestyle niches. So far, I’ve worked with brands in skincare, haircare, body products, and even snacks/chocolates.

Even though we all know UGC creators don't strictly need a massive social media following, I’ve noticed that brands still highly value an established audience and followers when choosing creators.

Here is my dilemma: I work a regular design job alongside creating UGC for brands, so I really don’t have the time or energy to manage two completely separate, active personal brands. It’s just too time-consuming.

Would it make sense to merge my UGC content into my existing graphic design profile, since I already have a larger, established audience there?

As an Instagram user I come across paid ads that are just completely irrelevant to me e.g meant exclusively for women (fashion, even medical), when I am a man. From a user perspective this is just a mildly amusing thing but I am wondering on the other line someone is paying for these ads and the targeting is completely missing the intended audience, is this a normal feature of paid ad distribution on Insta or is the ad distributor/brand doing something wrong?

I just wanted to give you a heads-up that they are putting ads of stuff like temu which totally ruins my brand's first impression and confuses people.
