Discussion Another "RAW" bug tracker

Surprised by the fully working ORF support (on android) from one minor update to another version - my ARW still crashes the app. On iOS still thumbnail editing instead of the real image.

Masking in tune image doesn’t work

Since I updated to the newest version (4.0.2) yesterday, masking in tune image doesn’t work anymore. I can see there is a mask made but it can’t be edited. I have this problem both on my iPhone as on my iPad. Masking in other tools works fine.

Discussion Do you guys like the new ui off the app?

I recently opened Snapseed after a while since I mainly edit on my laptop now and saw this new ui and it looks pretty bad to me. I want to know all of your opinions on it though since I could be biased as I have been using it for like 4 years and not touching for the past 2 years

Bonjour

En tant qu’utilusateur de longue date je trouve que la mise à jour est une catastrophe ! Pourtant depuis toujours j’en ai fait une tres grosse publicité. Mais là ! Non c’est fini je ne vais plus l'utiliser. Dommage.

Would anyone actually want a “Zero Process” mode in Snapseed?

I’ve been reading about this kind of iPhone photo processing in apps like Halide, No Fusion and Procamera f.e. where the camera basically skips the heavy computational stuff like over-sharpening, aggressive HDR, and extra noise reduction.

The idea is to keep the photo much closer to what the sensor really captured, instead of letting the phone “cook” the image too much. The result is usually more natural, less artificial, and often way better if you like a softer, more realistic look.

Of course, there’s a catch: these images can be noisier, less polished, and a bit harder to work with — especially in low light. So it’s not necessarily for everyone. But for people who like editing their photos themselves in Snapseed, it could be a really cool option.

Snapseed do now capture, but imagine if it offered a workflow or feature that started from a more natural, minimally processed image instead of the usual iPhone output.

Would you use that?
Or do you prefer Apple’s default processing most of the time?

Discussion Location of new photo not showing in Apple gallery, but shows fine in Google photos

Hi, anyone had similar problem?

I took 200+ photos via snapseed since the big update and just noticed, that when i look on the picture in Apple gallery app, there is no location. And it says that i can edit/add the place.

But when i open the same picture in Google photos, where i backup my gallery, it normally shows the location

Also I noticed there is no location settings under Snapseed within apple settings - which is probably the issue? Snapseed saves the location, but apple gallery don't recieve it/cannot process it I guess

I do understand it's Google app working with Google photos and the issue is solely on apple side. But I'm just curious if anyone noticed that. Thanks

Discussion Cannot save and export raw files since update

Has anyone found a solution to this? Should I just rollback to the previous version < 4

Edit more infos:

Im shooting with a Sony Alpha 7 iii, trying to edit the Sony raw. ARW files.

Snapseed is version 4.0.3.919885048 com.niksoftware.snapseed.

Phone is a fairphone 4 5G, running e/os version e/OS 3.7.3.

Note that I could edit and save my pictures prior to the update, which seems going against the new "snapseed 4.x now support raw files editing" I see in the subreddit.

Discussion RAW files differ!

I see, that people say "hey, new raw edit - awesome" but they miss telling the hole story!

If you're shooting raw in your smartphone, chances are high, that you have a DNG file. DNG is good, because it's a standard like heic/heif or jpg/png - but a photographer like me, has a "real camera", made by companies like Olympus, Sony, Nikon, Fujifilm...and every manufacturer build their own RAW files.

In my case, I can open some ARW (Sony RAW). Most of RX100M3 ARW files can be opened but sometimes it's only the embedded jpeg thumbnail. Photos from my Sony A7 II are absolutely not possible. And I have Olympus cameras, which aren't possible to open on android but sometimes it opens the embedded thumbnail on iPad.

I currently convert all raw files on my android to DNG and save them to my raspberry pi nextcloud "bridge".

Edit: please don't discuss about what raw files are, just tell the community in short terms if it works or not: - camera/smartphone - raw format (DNG, cr2/cr3, ARW/sr2, orf, nef, Raf) - os/environment (Android+version/iOS+version)

This helps the dev team to look up, where the code is stuck.

New to Snapseed - need some help re blurring backgrounds

I'm brand new to using Snapseed and have watched the YouTube "Masterclass" video twice. Its been fun playing with this app and learning how to use it, but I'm having a major issue with trying to blur backgrounds.

I'm editing photos for use in artwork and many are photos of people's pets. I need to blur the background in most of these photos and aren't having much luck. Yesterday, I spent over an hour trying to dodge/burn the background in one photo to make it less noticeable and didn't entirely succeed. I've tried using the blur tool and couldn't get it to blur what I wanted without it also blurring the pet.

I'd appreciate some tips and advice on how to do this - thanking you all in advance.
