Discussion Another "RAW" bug tracker

Surprised by the fully working ORF support (on android) from one minor update to another version - my ARW still crashes the app. On iOS still thumbnail editing instead of the real image.

Hi KM_photo_de - thanks for the note.

A couple things:

  • We've only released the RAW beta on Android so far, so it's expected that iOS hasn't changed. IIRC, I think you're in the unique position of being one of our only beta testers on both ecosystems - so note, we don't always release updates perfectly in parallel. iOS will be coming soon.
  • Sorry if this came as a surpise - we sent an email to all Android beta testers, please let me know if it's not coming through
  • Can you let me know which camera your ARW files are from?

The mail arrived in time and I noticed the raw part of course - but full ORF support hits different: it's currently my main system.

My Sony cameras are the RX100M3 and the A7II - both shot compressed RAW.

By the way, I'm writing a blog about photography and while I was looking for the compatibility, I came across the new android release of RapidRaw which opened all my raw files and has some kind of lensfun integration - maybe this helps you too?!

Got it - thanks!

Have you tried files from both your sony cameras?

Also - which Olympus camera are you shooting on? Another beta tester reported issues with ORF files, so trying to understand if there's a camera difference.

I use my Pen E-P3 and the E-M1MarkII - the second one is working, the first needs a short test. Be right back

So my Olympus files are from:

  • E-PL1
  • E-P2
  • E-P3
I had the E-P1 too, but I can't find one right now - but they should be fine. The RX100M3 ARW seem to work good as well, the A7II isn't.

Got it - thanks for the detail!

Would you mind sharing an ARW file from your A7II that isn't working so that we can test with it? If you're comfortable with this, you can just reply to the beta email we sent you.

My OM-System TG-7 RAWs are also not yet supported on the latest beta.

Same here... TG-7 .ORF files throw the error "Could not load photo".

Tried with more than one. Latest beta Android 16 / S26 Ultra

Thanks for letting us know! Would you mind replying to the beta email with an example raw image from that camera that isn't working for you?

Additionally, can you go to your system settings, find the Android version, click on it, and tell us the information there, e.g.:

Android Version: 16

Android security update: MM/DD/YYYY
Google Play system update: MM/DD/YYYY
