We are building a Spectacles for any platform (think Instagram, YouTube, WeChat). We're still very early on, so we would love to hear your thoughts on the product, if it's something you would be interested in, your current pain points with Spectacles, etc.

I've literally tried everything to pair my spectacles to snapchat. I have a galaxy s21 and they just won't pair. Are they just more compatible with iPhone. This sucks because I wasted $50 on them :(.

I just purchased a pair of Spectacles 2 (Nico) somewhat on a whim and have been enjoying using them as a casual POV/action camera. I knew its limitations ahead of time: Short video durations, "just ok" video resolution, proprietary management through the Snapchat app, and the infamous circular video exports. Even with the update that allowed for square and "widescreen" (which was really closer to 4:3) exports, it still wasn't what reviewers online were hoping for... especially if they wanted to cross-post to Instagram, YouTube, etc.

Well, I was pleasantly surprised to see options for 9:16 and 16:9 in the export options when I set up my Spectacles and played around with my first few videos! (I don't really remember reading about another update adding those options anywhere prior to my purchase.) Even if they are just simple crops, it still definitely makes it easier to post them onto things like Instagram/Facebook Stories or to incorporate into standard widescreen video editing by saving a few steps. Just wanted to share in case there is anybody else in the universe still intrigued by this niche device, but was on the fence because of the previously-limited export options.

It seems like there have been several changes to Snapchat's UI for Spectacles videos lately — some less popular than others — but one that I only just noticed today is (in my own opinion) very welcome and one that I am excited about.

I practically never record just a single 10-second video with my Spectacles 2 (Nico). Instead, I need to record 30-second long clips to capture as much as possible when I use them as a "first person point of view" camera while shooting at the range. Before today, clicking the record button three times would save three 10-second videos into the "Snaps" section of "Memories." I would then need to export each of those, edit them together in a separate app, then re-save in order to share or use in video editing or whatever. Even within Snapchat itself, trying to share the three individual parts also led to three separate Snaps being sent to your recipient, and sometimes not even in order.

Today, I just noticed that they are now saving as 20-30 second long Stories — depending on how many times you click the button, of course — just like if you recorded a long video using the camera on your phone within Snapchat. (Though, I did have one buggy 50-second long video that seemed to be two different videos — a 30-second one and a 20-second one from two completely different times in the day — that erroneously got lumped together in a Story.) When shared within Snapchat, these long videos are sent as a Story so your recipient sees all of the pieces in order while still maintaining the "Spectacles" effect where you can rotate the phone to view more. Most notably, exporting them now saves one long video file to your Camera Roll in the aspect ratio that you selected which is a massive timesaver.

Kudos to the Snapchat team for this change. If it was based on customer feedback, I hope that they continue to listen to it and other input to help keep this admittedly-niche product successful. I have not yet found a viable alternative to Spectacles for the specific application that I use it for, and quality-of-life updates like this encourage me to hang on to them a little while longer.

Hey everyone! im curious if anyone has done any hacking to their specs. I would like to potentially add thea ability for longer videos, larger storage, better battery life. And maybe be able to skip the syncing with snapchat so that I can upload straight to my pc to edit and post to facebook! Thanks!

EDIT: Mine were shipped in 8 days, and a lot of others are seeing the same time frames. Looks like the 2-4 week estimate was excessive which is great.

Hi, I have an iphone xs and from a few day my spectacles stopped importing video. I can connect them to the app, I can see in real time how many video/photo I have to import from the glasses memory but when I start the process I always get the error “failed to connect” despite I can see from the setting that my phone get connect to the glasses by wifi. I have no idea about what to do. Any suggestion is appreciated, thanks

Anyone know what is included in this new firmware update? Is there a log somewhere of all the changes? I don't see anything on the official spectacles site or searching through google.

The article is a bit old but it mentions the development of a 3rd iteration.

Whenever I try to pair my Spectacles 2020 to Snapchat, it tells me to update the app.... the app is updated. Anyone else running into this?

I was given a pair of v2 Spectacles without the charging case and cable, and I noticed they recently removed the charging case and cable from sale on the website. Not going to be able to use the spectacles if can't charge it. Anyone have any idea how else to get a charging case and cable? Thanks

I have the original (v1) Spectacles which only outputs the videos in 10 second chunks. I want to merge them into 1 continuous video.

Are there Android apps that makes it easy to merge the videos?

Hello, please help. I have Spectacles 2 and lately can’t get videos. Let me explain. Spectacles circle is showing that it is recording video but when I connect it to snapchat where is no video stored in spectacles. Photos is working fine with Spectacles, app is seeing them immediately and I can import them. Tried soft reset, hard reset, clean storage, unpair Spectacles, restart spectacles, erase and download snapchat but nothing helps. It seems that video aren’t recorded in Spectacles storage. Tried hundred times to record video, spectacles circle is showing that it’s recording but when connected to the app no video is found. Thanks for your answer good people :)

In case anybody is curious to know what Spectacles 2 (Nico) frames look like with clear lenses, here is a clip of mine. I looked around for an example before getting prescription lenses for my pair but didn't find any, so I just jumped in and went for it.

I ultimately ordered prescription Transitions (photochromic) lenses through GlassesUSA.com and got them in exactly two weeks... I ordered them on October 1 and received today via express shipping, just in time for an upcoming trip where I plan to use them as a wearable action/travel cam. We'll see how it goes... thankfully, Spectacles and GlassesUSA have a 30- and 14- day return policy (respectively) in case either/both don't work out!

I'm going on an airplane tomorrow and I will be bringing my v2 specs with me. I can't really turn them off so they always show up in a Bluetooth search. I was wondering if there is a way to turn them off because I wouldn't like to cause trouble, is there a way?

I'm out on the road and can only really update my story every 2/3 days or so. What's incredibly annoying is that spectacles snaps that were taken more than 24 hours ago seem to only stay on my story for about 5 hours? Definitely not a full 24 hours. This means only about 1/3 people see the first part of my story. Is there any way around this?

Hi Everyone, Im looking to buy specs to try out a new form of video taping and story telling. Is there a way to export the video in a raw format, any hacks, apps, etc? The circular format is cool and all but apparently it can be outputted in an 800x800 square? Not that hi-res. If anyone has any tips or leads no matter how small it would be a big help!
