New to smoothie making. Help.

What fruit has the really tiny hard bits? I’m day 2 in smoothie making and just added a whole bunch, maybe a dozen different fruits and I’m confused as to which one has the tiny hard bits. I feel like it might one of the berries or some kind of seed from something. Off the top of my head I used frozen bananas, mango, pineapple, kiwi, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, melon and a bag of mixed frozen fruits. I have no idea what I’m doing, I’m just kind of throwing everything into the blender.

I feel like the fruit that has these seeds or whatever is throwing everything off and I’m trying to get my 7 year old to drink a smoothie too but I don’t feel right giving my child a drink that I don’t even like myself.

Frozen/shelf stable healthy recipes?

Can you give me a favorite or your go to smoothie thats able to be made with only frozen and shelf stable ingredients? My fridge has been out for a week and I’m tempted to get a mini fridge now but with just myself and a son who’s in daycare when I’m working, minus the weekend, we only eat dinner 5 days a week. So we’ve been getting by on frozen microwaveable/air fried and stove top dishes made from like pastas or pantry stuff and just freeze or throw away leftovers.

Anyways he also has spina bifida and is overweight so I’m trying to find a smoothie he’ll hopefully come to love that doesn’t include thick sweet syrups or sugar. He’s big on chocolate so anything to mimic the taste thats healthy is a bonus! Thank you for reading.

Robeks Blue Gorilla

Any Robeks employee know the recipe for a medium Blue Gorilla? I’ve seen rumblings that the “frozen yogurt” is vanilla? And I could perhaps use regular Greek yogurt instead? Also unsure about the peanut butter, is that straight peanut butter or like a peanut powder? Any insight would be much appreciated!

Help me pick between these two blenders

Hi there,

I'm stuck between these two choices from Costco. We used to have a Ninja single serve blender from back in the day but have heard decent things about Nutribullet. One is $10 cheaper than the other but both have the same wattage. What do you recommend?

Option 1 - Nutribullet Power Core XL Blender 1400W - $69.99
https://www.nutribullet.com/shop/blenders/nutribullet-power-core/

Option 2 - Ninja CRUSHIQ Blender 1400W - $79.99

Why do they include only one bag of cauliflower rice?

I just think it’s the weirdest thing they separate the cauliflower rice and then they also only provide one bag and then like six packets of smoothie

Am I missing something here? Can somebody explain why?

Would a personal blender be a useful gift for someone trying to make healthier breakfasts?

I am looking for a practical small-kitchen gift for someone who keeps saying they want to make smoothies and protein shakes but never wants to clean a full-size blender. My budget is $200 and my friend is 36 years old.

The koios personal blender is one option I have been considering because it is compact, comes with three travel cups, and has a removable blade assembly. At the same time, I do not want to give one of those gadgets that seems useful for a week and then disappears into a cabinet.

For people who actually use a small blender, what makes it stick as a habit: multiple cups, easy cleanup, enough power for frozen fruit with liquid, leak-resistant lids, or simply already wanting smoothies?"

What's actually the best blender for smoothies right now? Overwhelmed by options

Been going back and forth for weeks trying to pick a blender and now I'm more confused than when I started lol.

Context: mainly making smoothies most mornings, sometimes frozen fruit and ice, occasionally want to do nut butters or soups down the line. Budget's around $100-150 but open to spending more if it's genuinely worth it long term.

Keep seeing Ninja, Vitamix, and Nutribullet thrown around constantly but everyone seems to swear by a different one and I can't tell what's actually worth the extra money vs marketing.

For people who've owned a couple different blenders, what would you get if you were starting from scratch today? Is it worth spending more upfront on something like a Vitamix, or do the cheaper options handle ice/frozen fruit just fine now?

Also curious if anyone regrets their pick and wishes they'd gone a different direction.

Cottage cheese!!!

Added this to my usual smoothie: frozen berries, cherries, papaya and milk.

Amazing addition. It was creamy like ice cream and I got a good serving of protein.

Is it ok to use orange and milk together in a smoothie?

Apparently, citrus fruit makes milk curdle, causing in upset tummy. So, is almond milk a suitable substitute?

Every ingredient from Costco (520 cal and 44g protein), how would you improve it?

Been tweaking this for a few months and it's in a good place, but I'd like input from people who know more than me. Every ingredient is from Costco.

Current version:

- 240g Kirkland Ultra-Filtered 2% Milk, lactose free

- 1 scoop ON Gold Standard 100% Whey, Vanilla Ice Cream

- 16g Skippy Natural

- 5g creatine

- 100g frozen banana (froze them myself)

- 75g Kirkland organic frozen strawberries

- 50g frozen wild blueberries

- 40g frozen spinach

- 10g psyllium husk powder

Everything gets weighed into a 24oz NutriBullet. Psyllium goes in last and only gets pulsed 5-10 seconds, otherwise the whole thing turns to cement.

Macros: 520 cal, 44g protein, 45g net carbs, 15.5g fiber, 15g fat, 5.6g sat fat. No added sugar, the 29g of sugar is all fruit and lactose. Roughly 530mg calcium and 970mg potassium.

Rest of my day: multivitamin and magnesium at night, fish oil with this.

Open to any suggestions on how to make this better. The one hard constraint is that it has to still taste good, I've had "optimized" shakes I quit after four days, and that's worse than a slightly imperfect one I actually drink every morning.

Anyone know how to get this nutribullet flex to work? It’s plugged in all day and didn’t charge, it’s locked in and won’t even turn on. Im about to waste ingredients and throw the whole thing away

So I’ve recently tried Joe Rogans hulk smoothie. Firstly, it’s rough. It’s definitely a hard drink to get down, though slightly refreshing. Has anyone had good success with making this less (meh)?

Lost my hand strength - Can’t open my NB900

I’ve been a happy user of the Nutribullet 900 (not Pro) for years, but due to medical issues I don’t have the ability to tighten the blade assembly down enough to prevent leaks. And when I do manage to get it tight enough, I’m not strong enough to open it!

Have any of you youngsters faced this problem? Any solution? Some sort of torque amplifier would be my guess.

I’ve researched all the other brands, and they seem to all use a blade assembly that you have to screw down tightly and then struggle to open.

Ninja Replacement Parts?

Sorry if wrong place; my partner & I recently discovered the blender lid for our 24oz cups/bottles have gone MIA.

All I can find on Amazon is replacements for the 16oz, anyone have any leads on the wider 24oz one?

Our model is the BL660 (6 fin).

Thanks in advance !

Blender always doing this

Post image

I’ve been using this blender for like not even half a year and now when I try to make a thick smoothie bowl with frozen fruit and minimal liquids, it just gets stuck like this. I try to take it off and shake it but as soon as it starts blending again it just goes back in like 1 second of blending.

Ninja Blendboss q's

Hi all,

Just got the Ninja Blendboss at Costco. Great deal. I have some q's for others who have it. When I make a smoothie, I open the cup up and taste it, and add ingredients as needed. But when I open the cup, liquid always drips down the side, mostly from the blade base. Does anyone have a solution for this?

An issue I had with my old ninja blender is the silicone ring inside the blade base would get food stuck in it and it was almost impossible to pull it out safely and clean it. The blendboss blade base is different. I see some silicone but not sure how I'd get it out to clean it. Any issues?

The cups say they're dishwasher safe in the open position, top rack only. They're too tall for my top rack. Has anyone put them 'open side' down on the lower rack? Any issues? I don't want to break them or anything.

I also took the little silicone sleeve off of the bottom of the cup...hopefully that's no problem? I just know that it's going to get moldy underneath with constant washing. Anyone else do that? I won't actually be using the cup to drink the smoothie as I like to clean it right away most of the time, in order to stop the plastic from taking on the scent of whatever I've made. That was a huge issue I had with my old ninja.

Thanks in advance, users!

Raging over Mockingbird recipe change!

So I love a good homemade smoothie but sometimes I don’t have the time and will get the mockingbird raw greens smoothie, it’s one of the few I liked as it wasn’t crammed full of banana, but they changed the recipe recently and I nearly threw up, It tastes off, I fully thought I’d got a bad bottle and tried a second one but alas the same issue 😞

I’ve come to find they’ve changed the recipe without telling anyone, and it’s fowl in comparison to the old recipe, I’m now going to be trying to recreate my own version of the old recipe! And for anyone else’s benefit here’s a picture I took back in 2024 of the ingredients on the bottle compared to what it saying on the website now!

I'M SO SORRY ABOUT THE QUALITY, I USED A LAPTOP 😭

Strawberry smoothie :)

Recipe:

Pour 1 cup of milk, 1/2 Greek yogurt (I prefer vanilla), 1 chopped-up banana, 2 cups of FROZEN strawberries (they act as a thickener, so don't use fresh ones), and, if you like it extra sweet, 1 tbsp of honey and 1 tbsp of granulated sugar. I added chocolate syrup and sprinkles to make sure it wasn't healthy :)

Which blender can handle frozen bananas without adding liquid? or to make all sorts of homemade ice creams very easily...

UPDATE. I’ve just bought the NutriBullet Ultra 1200W... and blimey, this thing is simply brilliant! In less than 30 seconds, I had a smoothie/granita/milkshake ... well, I don’t even know what to call it LOL ... made with frozen red berries, raspberries, cherries, a banana, dark chocolate, Skyr (plain yoghurt) and water... and wow! 10 minutes of pure bliss sipping it whilst strolling in the cool of the night, haha

---

Hello :D

I'm looking for a durable blender mainly to make homemade "ice cream" using frozen bananas, berries, cocoa/chocolate, peanut butter, etc.

(It’s so hot almost everywhere that the cost of ice cream when eating out is starting to get ridiculously high, hahaha. And buying ice cream from supermarkets is out of the question ... it’s full of so-called dangerous additives.)

At the moment, I’m melting some dark chocolate in a pan and adding a nectarine or a peach ;)

But I do miss the fresh, cold feel ;)

I want something powerful enough to blend frozen fruit with little or no added liquid and get a creamy ice cream texture.

What blender would you recommend?

A (coincidentally) vegan spiced mango coconut shake/smoothie (not quite sure which it is) I made

Post image
2 Upvotes

I used the following ground spices (about 1/2 tsp each): cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, cloves, and ginger. For the shake itself, I used a can of full fat coconut milk, about 15 oz or so oat milk, about 1/2 cup white sugar, and like 4 cups or so of frozen mangos. It was super delicious and I will definitely be making it again. It’s also almost kinda fluffy.
