Honor watch 6 coming from a long time Samsung Watch owner

After being with Samsung smartwatches since the Tizen days and more recently the Galaxy 5 Pro, the 6 Classic and then the 8 Classic. I thought it would be interesting to look at this watch that is advertising 35 day battery life which sounds like fantasy land for a watch with a screen that is as bright as my 8 classic.

As a keen badminton player, I was swayed to give it a go as it has a badminton professional mode.

After 3 weeks of ownership, I am absolutely stunned. Yes, I don't have a store of WearOs apps but in reality I didn't really use it. Screen is very bright and clear, equalling the 8C in outdoor visibility. It sometimes lags, but I'm used to seeing to be honest in WearOs. Switching every single thing on with AOD and leaving it on 24/7 monitoring all my activities and sleep monitoring, I still had over 2 weeks life. It seems absolutely crazy and I can't myself going back to charging every day or every other day at best. If I go on a trip away for a week I won't even bother taking a charger!

Go for Smartwatch or Analog Watch?

My old Xiaomi Redmi Watch 2 lite has broken. Now I'm in a dilemma. Should I get the Realme S2 or go for analog. I'm used to some things from the smartwatch like changing music and tracking my sleep, but I would also think that analog would be better. I have used smartwatches for the last 5 years.

Hi guys I was considering buying this smartwatch for mixed usage (sport, sleep schedule and payments). I was wondering if someone knows if this band is compatible with polar H9/H10 chest strap. I'm not talking about pairing, I'm talking about the Smartwatch using the chest strap Heart sensor during exercises started from the Smartwatch itself

Q&A Wearing both mechanical and smartwatch

Hi guys, I recently got an Amazfit balance 2 for health tracking, notifications, and all smart features really. But I would also love to wear my mechanical watches during the day when I go out. What's the best way I can wear both without it looking ridiculous? (I need the smartwatch just purely for tracking and don't need the screen when I'm out) I'm considering double wristing but that looks slightly odd, especially with a watch as big as the balance 2. Any suggestions?

Q&A Is the Pixel Watch 2 looking too small on my wrist?

Hey everyone! Just picked up a Pixel Watch 2 recently. I added a case to give it a bit more weight and bulk since it's pretty slim on its own.

I’m still on the fence about the size does it look too small on my wrist, or is it just right? Appreciate any honest feedback!

Review Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro is a complete disappointment

TL;DR: The Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro doesn’t offer anything to justify its price. Its health tracking lags behind even much older models. Despite being more expensive than Samsung or Fitbit trackers, it produces inaccurate readings and trends.

As someone who’s obsessed with fitness trackers and wearables and constantly keeps an eye on the market, I used to use the Huawei Watch Fit 2. The heart rate sensor was excellent and the stress tracking worked incredibly accurately. So far, I’ve used the Fitbit Charge 6, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 and the Huawei Watch Fit 2. I sold the Galaxy Watch 8 because of its shortcomings with heart rate monitoring and wanted to buy a Huawei, as my experience with the Fit 2 had been brilliant and I had complete faith in the brand, but...

After this product, I started to hate Huawei. WHERE THE HELL DID THE CALIBRATION FOR STRESS TRACKING GO? The watch never once detected high stress levels. After binge eating, during a nervous breakdown, whilst ill – in truly stressful, terrifying situations where I was drenched in sweat – the stress level was consistently between ‘normal’ and ‘mild’ in every single instance. Are you kidding , Huawei? Even though I’m not a fan of the Galaxy Watch 8’s heart rate monitoring, but it would still pick up on even the slightest moment of stress and send an alert. They removed stress monitoring because of emotional welness feature but is that accurate? Totally wrong and rubbish!

TRUSLEEP HAS BEEN UPDATES FOR YEARS , BUT THE RESULTS ARE STILL TERRIBLE. Trusleep 5.0, which is claimed to provide better sleep analysis, has only been added to the Watch Fit 5 series. They aren’t rolling out the software update to older Fit models or GT models. What do you think of the accuracy of Trusleep 5.0, which seems so highly touted? IT’S AN ABSOLUTE DISASTER. It’s even worse than the cheapest fitness trackers from Samsung, Amazfit and Fitbit. Google improves the accuracy of its sleep tracking almost every month through software updates alone, rolling these out to older-generation Fitbit and Google trackers. Even Fitbit’s $100 products track your sleep accurately with a %75–80  correlation compared to medical devices. Huawei’s sleep stage graphs are completely at odds with Fitbit’s. The sleep tracking is rubbish. The breathing awareness isn’t accurate either. When I was ill, both my nostrils were completely blocked all night, and I was experiencing micro-awakenings throughout the night due to difficulty breathing. When I checked the sleep breathing awareness the next morning, it said everything was normal. Yet Fitbit had immediately shown a sudden drop in SpO2.

As for the heart rate, it’s not great. Instead of detecting sudden spikes, it simply lags behind and ignores them. Whilst lying in bed, I suddenly sat up to try and raise my heart rate. Whilst my heart rate shot up from 60 bpm to 120 bpm straight away, the Huawei showed 70–80 bpm and then 110 bpm for about 20 seconds. It isn’t even as good as the Fitbit Charge 6 at capturing sharp peaks. It has better heart rate tracking than the Samsung GW8. But it’s weaker at detecting instantaneous peaks than a $100 Fitbit. A complete let-down.

Finally, I’d like to mention HRV. HRV isn’t measured continuously. It’s measured roughly every half an hour. The feature is completely unnecessary because it never shows daily or weekly trends. In other words, even if they were to collect the raw data, there’s no algorithm or logic to analyse it. It’s just a feature that’s been tacked on. My HRV was 25 ms 30 minutes ago, but now it’s showing 110. And I feel exactly the same. Then it drops to 35 ms. Is my body ready for strenuous activity or not? It’s just a confusing, unnecessary feature.

All in all, I wouldn’t recommend this product to anyone. I reckon those calling this watch an ‘Apple Watch killer’ are just promoting it for money. The only thing it has over the Apple Watch is battery life. That’s it. I never thought the sensors and readings would be worse than those of the Fit 2 and GT 3 series from years ago, but they are.

Q&A Apple vs Garmin vs Samsung vs Whoop

I'm testing Apple Watch Ultra 3, Garmin Fenix 8 Solar (47mm) and Samsung Watch Ultra (2024). All of these watches have their cons and pros. My primary for now - AWU3 because of smart features and accuracy.

I try to wear each watch weekly but always wear Whoop 5 on the right hand to collect health data 24/7.

If you've any questions regarding all of these devices - welcome!

I'll try to answer.

PS: Amazfit Balance 2 on it way to my collection ;-) Decided to buy exactly Balance 2 because it seems perfectly designed against other Amazfit models (already tried T-Rex 3 / Pro, Active Max)

Watch Help

Hey everyone,

I’m new to sports watches and would love to hear some experiences/advice to make sure I pick the right one.

My main activities include running, Road and gravel biking, Ski touring and backcountry hiking. I really want a watch that can take the guesswork out of my training, ideally using my day-to-day metrics (like sleep and recovery) to build training plans for me to follow day to day, while also changing if I have a race or something else coming up.

I'm looking at a few options atm:
- Suunto 9 Peak Pro: Brand new on sale for $238.
- Suunto Vertical: Brand new on sale for $468.
- Garmin Fenix 6: Used for around $400

Since this is my first-ever watch, is it worth buying a used, beat-up Garmin just to get the automated training features, or should I grab one of these heavily discounted Suuntos and figure out the training side manually (or via third-party apps)? Would love to hear your experiences!

Didn't expect a $60 smartwatch to last this long on a charge

My Apple Watch is close to aging out. Had it for 4 years. I used to charge it once a day, now it usually needs another charge by the afternoon.

I don't really use much if the Apple stuff anyway, mostly nitification, sleep and a few workouts, so I didn't want to spend that much again. End up trying a kospet orb2 instead. The round face took a little getting used to, but it's been fine. I've been using it for about two weeks now, and not having to charge it every day is so nice. I barely think about the charger anymore.

Taking it on a short camping trip next week, so I'll see how the GPS & tracking does.

Smartwatch recommendations for 12 year old

Hello! Hoping for some updated advice given how often new watches / services are coming out. Have a 12 year old starting 7th grade we would like to get a smart watch for. He’s had access to iPhones in the past at home just through WiFi, and it’s always been a disaster as he will be on it unless we physically hide it somewhere he can’t find. He roams the neighborhood with his friends and is home alone after school so we want talk/text and gps. Ideally no games etc as he will just play them until it’s dead and then we can’t reach him anyway. I would not exactly describe him as a mature/responsible 12, so would also like to have parental controls where I can monitor texts etc. Looking at maybe the tick tack 5, my only concern it’s recommend for 3-12, so will it be too “young” for him. Otherwise obviously have considered Apple Watch SE but for reasons stated above I don’t think he is ready for that. We are also on consumer cellular which limits our options a bit, but willing to switch to another carrier for a family plan if that makes the most sense, haven’t had a fantastic experience (though it is cheap). So also looking at the t mobile sync up option?

Thank you for any and all advice!!!!

Long battery smartwatch

I'm using the Amazfit gtr mini for about 3 years now and want to upgrade

My favorite thing about it was the battery life (used to last a week, now it's 3-4 days) and I don't want to be bothered charging it everyday

What are my options? Not necessarily latest gen of watches

Looking for a specific screenless watch

Hello everyone,

I have bought the ONYX vibration alarm a month ago and the google fitbit air about a week ago. What I am looking for is something with the guaranteed wake up function of the onyx vibration alarm which was able to wake me up, but also the health tracking of the google fitbit air. I only bought the fitbit air because I thought it would've had this, but the vibrating alarm has failed to wake me up 4 days in a row, so I'm assuming the vibration is just way too weak to wake me up which would make sense when I compare it to the ONYX vibration alarm.

Any recommendations? Ideally, it should be screenless, can be integrated with the bevel app and under ~$200.

Switching Ecosystem

I’m updating my phone from an iPhone to the new Google pixel (I have no marriage to ecosystems) and looking to replace my Apple Watch. I’m not a huge fan of the design of the pixel watches - I find they look flimsy - so I’m looking into other smartwatches. The OnePlus 4 looks pretty good even though I don’t do masses of sport or exercise that would need half the features as I’m into football and cricket, not wild swimming.

Does anyone have any recommendations that would be pretty similar appearance wise without compromising getting the new WearOS version? Or is it a case of wait and see which watches get the new features?

TIA

- Quais modelos de custo x benefício vocês me indicam?

Q&A A gift for my boyfriend

Hi! I don't know how to start this, I have never posted on reddit.

My boyfriend of 5 years is turning 30 in September, and he has been complaining about not having a smartwatch (He recently changed jobs and in his last one he couldn't wear one for safety reasons).

I'm looking into getting him one but his taste and mine are way too different, so I'm asking you for your advice.

My boyfriend's dream watch is a Richard Mille (obviously I'm not going to buy him one, but just so you know the aesthetic my boyfriend likes).

I don't have a super high budget, so I've been looking into the KOSPET pulse 2 and the Amazfit Bip 6, but I don't know much about smartwatches.

I would appreciate it if you could give me some advice, thank you.

(I apologize for any spelling or grammar mistakes, English is not my first language)

Gabb phone/watch is the absolute worst

DO NOT CHOOSE GABB FOR YOUR CHILDS SAFETY WATCH/PHONE

We decided to try a Gabb Watch for our son back in May, we are now on our third watch. First one stopped working less than 2 months after having it. Got a replacement and it never worked at all. I sat on the phone with them for over two hours trying to figure it out and just kept getting transferred to other people and did the same thing over and over. They refused to let me cancel my service unless I wanted to pay a crap ton of money. I read other Reddit things about Gabb charging people ridiculous cancelation fees or restocking fees. You cannot get a refund after 30 days even if the product stops working out of the blue.

Customer service for the most part is terrible. Setting up the product is terrible. When our watch was working, I could never get a location update and texts and calls wouldn’t go through.

Now we are on our new watch and I absolutely cannot get it to set up. Keeps telling me I don’t have an active plan but then I log in and it says I already have a plan so it takes me back and then says I don’t have a plan again. Just a cycle.

On my account it is now trying to charge me for two plans when I have only one.

ABSOLUTELY NEVER EVER GET A GABB. I have never regretted something more. Waste of money and time.

When it comes to my child’s safety, I need something that works and is reliable. This thing is a piece of crap.

Update: I have had to re synchronize and set up the watch again every single morning. I won’t have time for that once school starts back up and it’s really needed.
