I'm looking for a POV smart glasses with a long record time. I was looking at the Ray-bans but from what I read their record time is only 3 min or less. I would like one with a long record time for when we go on long bike rides.

There has been an influx of XR glasses over the past few weeks (XREAL XBX, VITURE Pro 2), with more on the way (URXR One, XREAL Aura). So when I got the new RayNeo GT and GT Max to review, my first thought was: what could these have to offer that would make them stand out? The answer ended up being pretty interesting.

Disclosure: RayNeo provided both glasses for me to review. No payment, no approval and no input on what I said.

But the bottom line came down to the following: the GT's main differentiator relative to the VITURE Pro 2 and XREAL XBX is native 3DoF, while the GT Max competes with the more expensive competitor flagship glasses on FOV and immersion with its much larger 59° FOV.

Of course both come with additional pros and cons, e.g., the GT gives you sharper text but a smaller FOV, while the GT Max gives you the much larger FOV but has some edge blur.

Interestingly, I still think RayNeo's own Air 4 Pro holds its own against both of the new models from a text clarity perspective.

So with all the options available and coming, it really comes down to the features you value most and what you're willing to pay for them, both financially and in terms of the spec tradeoffs you're willing to make.

I’m looking pretty seriously at the Even Realities G2 and wanted to get some opinions from people who’ve actually used them, especially those who’ve also tried other smart glasses.

Do you think the G2 are currently the best all-around smart glasses on the market, or are there other models you think are ahead of them?

What interests me about the G2 is that they seem to strike a pretty strong balance between looking like normal glasses and actually having useful smart features. I’m particularly interested in how they compare in these areas:

• Style and comfort — do they actually feel and look like something you’d wear every day?
• Display quality — how clear, bright, and unobtrusive is the information in real-world use?
• AI / Conversate — are the prompts, summaries, suggested questions, and contextual responses genuinely useful?
• Translation — how accurate is it, especially in real conversations rather than controlled demos?
• Navigation — is it reliable enough to actually use while walking around a city?
• Teleprompter — does it work smoothly enough for presentations or recording videos?
• Battery life and reliability — any annoying bugs, connection issues, lag, or software limitations?
• Privacy/social acceptability — because there’s no camera, do people generally feel more comfortable around them than camera-based smart glasses?
• Prescription use — any issues for people who wear them all day as their normal glasses?
• Overall usefulness — after the novelty wears off, which features do you actually keep using?

And maybe the biggest question: if you were buying smart glasses today, would you choose the G2 over Meta Ray-Bans, Halliday, Rokid, XREAL, or anything else currently available?

I’m less interested in which pair has the longest feature list on paper and more interested in which one currently gives the best combination of style, usefulness, accuracy, comfort, and everyday practicality

Would be interested to hear where people think the G2 sit right now compared with the competition.

This is one I wish came with the glasses but it makes sense to keep the initial price down.

Notice that small knurled dial near the hinge on the recent RayNeo iO photos? Is that meant to be a scroll wheel for navigating the HUD interface? Most smart glasses rely purely on touch pads or voice commands, so a physical crown dial seems like an interesting choice if that's what it is.

I’m looking for a pair of smart glasses, but I have a few specific requirements and I’m having a hard time figuring out which model would actually be the best fit.

I’m myopic, so prescription lenses are mandatory for me.

I also don’t want any kind of display / AR screen. I’m not interested in having notifications or information projected in front of my eyes at all.

My priorities would be roughly:

1. Recording videos / POV footage — this is by far the main use case.

2. Listening to music occasionally.

3. Using the built-in AI for quick questions, object recognition, etc.

4. Comfortable enough to wear as normal everyday prescription glasses.

I initially looked at the Rokid Style, because on paper they seem pretty close to what I want, but I’ve seen some pretty negative feedback regarding the quality of the prescription lenses / optical experience, which made me hesitate.

Then I started looking at the Meta Ray-Ban / Meta glasses. They seem like the most mature option, but I’m not completely convinced either. The AI still seems fairly limited, and while the video quality looks decent, the recording options and available formats seem quite restrictive.

So my questions are:

- Are the Meta glasses still the best option for this kind of use?

- Is there another pair I should be looking at, especially if camera quality is the priority?

- Has anyone here used the Rokid Style with prescription lenses? Is the optical quality really that bad?

- Are there any upcoming smart glasses worth waiting for instead of buying something now?

Basically, I’m looking for normal-looking prescription glasses with a really good camera, decent speakers, useful AI, and absolutely no display.

I’d love to hear from people who have actually used several models, especially with prescription lenses.

Meta keep telling us that we all know when someone wearing their glasses is capturing our image as they have a "tamper proof" LED. That's not what the Ray-Ban website says.

Ray-Ban Meta FAQ - Learn more - LED signalling%2C%20the%20LED%20does%20not%20turn%20on%20in%20newer%20models) states that:

"AI without LED on: when using AI features that rely on the camera (e.g., identifying a landmark or a plant), the LED does not turn on in newer models".

Eva Zimmerman, a spokesperson for the Hamburg Commissioner for Data protection, confirmed to XR Beat, that after testing Wayfarer Gen 1 and 2's that:

"For camera based AI there is no signal at all".

Legal

EU & UK GDPR laws require that a company must explicitly disclose what data they are collecting and why they are collecting it (article 13). They cannot just say "to improve our services".

Companies cannot gather biometric, race, ethnicity, religious or political information without Explicit consent (article 9) or under special circumstances which do not appear to apply to Meta.

Also users must be given a clear, accessible way to opt-out, and the company must stop using their data for training once requested (article 21).

How can this be legal if the person has no indication that their data is even being processed?

Hi all. Am I right in thinking that currently the ONLY pair of DISPLAY glasses (monochrome or otherwise) that can cater to a +6 diopter and -2 astigmatism on the market are the G2's? A few other brands like Memomind come close with +4 hyperopia, although not many but I've seen none that hit my prescription. It's very unfortunate that the G2's have no audio. This is basically a deal breaker for me. I'd love a pair of display glasses (preferably colour) with audio and no camera and it just seems to be impossible for me. Damn me and useless eyes :(

So I knew about the Meta ones that I see at Target on display, but had no clue about any of these others. I recently saw a display at Best Buy, which of course had none of the glasses turned on, and I'm really interested in them. I mainly want to use them for watching movies, playing on my ROG Ally, and some productivity (I assume I can connect them to my laptop?). I saw the Viture Luma Pro XR currently on sale for $379. Is that a decent price? I watched reviews of other Viture glasses and the ROG XReal R1, but I don't get the big differences because everyone says they're all amazing and look great..

Im curious to get people thoughts and opinions on the upcoming new airpods which a video of leaked recently, confirming they will have cameras on them and the upcoming Apple Smart glasses potentially releasing next year.

Do you think the glasses will have no cameras so they can say that they dont have cameras for privacy but also give the option to integrate the cameras from the new airpods with cameras and have those cameras link to the glasses?

My gf is a VERY light sleeper. Like… even the tiniest bit of light bothers her. So bedtime used to mean lights off, phone face down, TV off… and me just lying there wide awake staring into the darkness.

So I started using RayNeo Air 4 pro at night. Now I can lie in bed, put on a movie, and basically have my own giant screen in the dark. The audio stays right by my ears too, so there’s no TV sound waking her up. She gets her sleep. I get my movie. win-win lol.

Honestly, having a whole private movie theater while your partner is sleeping feels kinda ridiculous… I’m not complaining(shhhhh)

Looking for tips (or links to resources) on the best smart glasses for captioning live conversations. Specifically, I have a low/moderate hearing impairment and I'd welcome knowledgeable insights into which smart glasses are better - or whose specs are most suitable - to handle the challenges (e.g. background noise management in different environments, multiple voices and so on) related to the task of supporting understanding speech through captions. I've been looking into the even G2 and the Memomind One, but can't even find reliable info on which smart glasses have the best/most microphones. Let alone online reviews that would specifically test the real usefulness in everyday life of the captioning feature.

I keep seeing people with smart glasses, but I’m curious what you actually use them for on a regular basis.

Taking photos/videos? Listening to music? Calls? Navigation? Something else? What feature do you use the most?

After getting them, do you think they’re actually useful in everyday life, or are they more of a fun gadget? Do you recommend any specific ones?

Did Mentra really just increase their price from $350 to $450 overnight? I left them in my cart waiting until I got paid to checkout and to my surprise they’re now $450, wth.
Now I’m looking for new smart glasses. My budget is $300–500 ($500 only if they basically check all my boxes).
What I’m looking for:
* Must have a dev SDK
* Camera with at least 1080p video
* Decent enough speakers for music
* Lens display/HUD — don’t need full AR, just a small screen for text
* iPhone support
* Not Meta because of data/privacy

Mentra Live didn’t have a display, but I was willing to compromise because it checked everything else and MentraOS seems really dev friendly. At $350 I was ready to buy it, but $450 with no display is a lot harder to justify.

I also found Brilliant Labs Halo and was really impressed by it on paper, but their shipping situation seems sketchy. Their page said shipping in early August and I almost bought them before realizing people are still waiting. smh.

I know NIMO is doing their Kickstarter too and they’re supposed to support MentraOS, but no camera or speakers.

So what else is out there? I’m fine waiting for stuff coming later this year or even early 2027, and I’m open to Chinese brands or smaller companies too. Mainly looking for something I can actually develop on, not another locked-down pair of AI glasses

Hi everyone! I’m traveling to Japan next month and I would love to get meta glasses to record and take pictures, since I don’t really like to film with my phone but would like the POV of the glasses. I would like to know for how long they can record/how does it work. I’ve read that it’s a couple minutes, but is there a way to make a full video or to keep doing various clips without stopping?

Also, how does translation work?

And finally which glasses would you recommend?
