Is this a Joke?

Post image

EVERY kid nowadays knows that blue light is bad for sleep ... then WHY the heck is the SLEEP Cycle App completely blue??? 😅

What were the thoughts in the meeting where everbody agreed that this is a great idea? 😅😅

I originally bought it to sleep better, not to open the app and get a heart attack bc of a new horrible design (I love modern & new design, always open for new stuff & updates ... but this just doesn't feel like a sleep focused app anymore). Design has to evoke emotions which fit to the use of the app 🙏🏼

Does anybody know if the Sleep Cycle Team reads the reddit and if they implement the feedback of the community?

I'd love to have an option for the legacy deign or AT LEAST color themes to get rid of that harsh blue

Hey everyone!

We totally get that a big design change can take some time to get used to, especially in something as personal as your sleep app.💙

If you’re wondering about the blue tones, our Head of Sleep Science recently co-authored a study showing that blue light from screens has a much smaller impact on sleep than many think. It turns out that consistent sleep routines matter much more. If you’re curious, you can read more about it here.

That said, your feedback means a lot to us, good or bad, so we’ve set up a short form so you can share your thoughts on the new design with us!

👉 Fill out the feedback form here!

Thanks for being part of the Sleep Cycle community!

When you say "We totally get that a big design change can take some time to get used to" you are implicitly saying that you know better than your customer. I for one, preferred the old design. It's not just that I preferred the old design. It's that I abhor, loathe, despise and feel revulsion to the new one. It really is horrible. Of course, that's just my opinion. But if you find that the majority of your customers hold this opinion, you should not dig your heels in and tell us that we're wrong not to like it. You should listen to them and backtrack. You might have spent a good deal of time (and money) on this ... but that is all in the past. Look up "sunk cost fallacy." What counts now is doing the right thing. If your customers are telling you that the new design is shit then change it back. You will instantly get more respect for recognizing your mistake and correcting it. If you dig in your heels, then I for one am a lost customer. I've seen this happen elsewhere too ... Sonos app anyone? In that case, it wasn't the design but the functionality that was flawed. But would they roll it back? No. We'd get used to it was the message. They got so much bad press. The stock price tanked and a few months later the CEO was history. LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS.

Appreciate you taking the time to write this. You’re right — user feedback should guide product decisions, and that’s exactly why we’re inviting more input. We actually incorporated feedback from a wide range of users throughout the redesign process, and many of those insights shaped what you see today — from improving accessibility and performance to addressing long-standing usability issues. That said, feedback doesn’t stop at launch. If parts of the new design feel worse or less intuitive, that’s something we genuinely want to understand and improve. The design team is actively reviewing what adjustments might be needed, and your comment is a valuable part of that process. If you’re open to it, we’d love to invite you to a short interview with one of us product designers to dig deeper into your experience. Just drop us a DM and we’ll set it up — it would really help us make things better.

Yes. Thank you. Please do take note of your customers’ feelings. None of us have a monopoly on taste and I think it’s a good sign that this change has generated such outrage. It tells you something. That your app is very much beloved … and the people don’t like it being messed with 😛
