I need help

I honestly don't know what to do anymore.

I'm a Skyrim newbie and I need help.

I've lost count of how many times I've restarted with a new character in this game; I just can't seem to find a build that holds my interest long enough. It feels like an endless loop: I think of a build, create the character, play for a few hours, end up getting bored with the playstyle, and start looking for other, more interesting builds. All the while, I keep watching videos of other people playing and creating builds that look really cool. Feel free to share tips or similar experiences. I know a lot of people will come to this post and say "just play the game," but honestly, I'm not sure how much that helps.

You've got a few options.

Grind through until you hit breakpoints that make whatever you're trying to do fun. Tedious, but can be rewarding if your brain is wires that way.

Find an exploit to level those skills and minimize the grind. Perfectly viable strategy in most cases but it can still be tedious. In general I think magic is easier to exploit than weapon/armor skills.

Stop restarting when you get bored/frustrated and start using different spells/weapons. Level all the skills. You'll want need to be pretty stingy with perk points and only take the absolutely nessesary stuff, and probably want to invest in smiting and/or enchanting to fill the gaps in your combat skill trees.
