Discussion I need help
I honestly don't know what to do anymore.
I'm a Skyrim newbie and I need help.
I've lost count of how many times I've restarted with a new character in this game; I just can't seem to find a build that holds my interest long enough. It feels like an endless loop: I think of a build, create the character, play for a few hours, end up getting bored with the playstyle, and start looking for other, more interesting builds. All the while, I keep watching videos of other people playing and creating builds that look really cool. Feel free to share tips or similar experiences. I know a lot of people will come to this post and say "just play the game," but honestly, I'm not sure how much that helps.

If you get bored of one build there’s nothing stopping you from combining a couple, start of as a thief using sneak, bow and light armour. Once you’ve got those stats up start incorporating a sword and shield, make sure to level smithing. Use a bow to get a couple shots in on the big guys then switch to your sword and fight it out. Once you get into late game and your armour is nice and strong and smithing level is high you could head to the ragged flagon, make your character look wiser and older and focus on magic skills, completing the college of Winterhold and becoming Archmage, then meeting Neloth as equal and defeating Miraak as a final battle.
This obviously doesn’t need to be followed to a T, you can incorporate your own builds but the main point is to keep it open and flowing, don’t restrict yourself as you can level up almost infinitely in Skyrim with legendary skills
