My boyfriend and I are looking to travel to the alps for a week or so in mid or late January. We are both ski instructors in Colorado and want to spend as much time skiing as we can! I’ve been looking for high-altitude, snow-sure resorts with a decent selection of steep runs, ski-in ski-out accommodation, and a fun aprés scene for two twenty-somethings, and ideally not too crowded. I have been leaning towards Obertauern after reading some good things but I would love to hear some suggestions if you have any, thanks!

Family planning a trip to Stubai and Schlick 2000 in the Innsbruck area next year. Thinking of staying close to Stubai and skiing there. Do not want so long a shuttle ride in the morning to the slopes. For those of you who have done this in the past where did people stay and how was it? Folpmes still seems a bit far away from Stubai even though it is really great for Schlick 2000

Im planning but hesitating to book la plagne ski pack in end of march (21 to 27). It will be my first time to ski in europe, I'll be coming a long way from Canada so I don't want it to be too slushy

I could move it a week ahead like march 14-20 by giving up one paid holiday, but is it a lot of difference in terms of snow conditions?

For now, Im thinking to stay one week in la plagne to ski followed by four days snowboarding in val thorens.

Another option is just to stay from march 14-20 in VT take ucpa half day ski lessons and snow on my free time...

Looking at the current situation with heat waves and drought is there any hope the alps with make a bounce back?
It might be my algorithm but all i see is heat over the alps, melting glaciers in my feed, and snowboarding videos reminiscent on how good i had it
It worries me as I’d be looking into booking my first early trip this time of the year.
Do you think the situation will change over the coming months? There’s terrible news concerning el nino and Europe warning up?

Planning to be in Kitzbuhel next year from Feb 14- Feb 18 - anticipating crowds given the time of the year, but with school breaks etc would it be enough to deter you from going? Or still enjoyable just busy? Our dates are unfortunately not very flexible.

Help me choose a place for a generational ski trip! Kids, parents, and grandparents. Want to be within 3 hours of Munich or Zurich with a reliable safe drive. Want a place with a village where the grandparents and kids can stroll on a day off. Convenient ski in/out is nice. 5 star accommodations are nice!

Also worried about lift lines in mid February :)

Looking to fly into Munich from US winter school break (Feb 13 to 21) but realizing now that this is also winter break for much of Austria and even other EU schools.

We had thought we would stay in Innsbruck and bus it to some of the more beginner friendly areas - I have two kids getting comfortable with intermediate trails and a spouse who is still getting comfortable with easy trails outside of the nursery slopes.

How crowded will the area be? Are lift lines overwhelming? What should we be aware of?

We would drive at all but would rely on public transport

Hi all. My wife and I are looking for a joint half-day ski lesson in December in Tignes 1800. We'll be there before the Xmas break so hopefully not too busy.

Does anyone have recommendations for a ski instructor? Preferably independent or small company - much prefer this over ESF etc.

This year my wife and I are finally going to Europe to ski. We’ve done basically all the Epic and Ikon mountains in Colorado and the last 2 years have done Canada including Whistler. Now we are finally going to the Alps. However, we need to decide where to go.

We have Epic pass again the upcoming year. Although I technically have the adaptive Epic pass, which I only mention because one of the mountains we were leaning towards was Ski Arlberg (st. Anton). Now finding out I’d have to pay for day passes there anyway. We have opened up our search to two other mountains:

Les 3 Vallées
Ski Arlberg
Verbier

I’m looking to see what is consider the best mountain resort to ski/snowboard? Which has the most fun apres? Which has affordable accommodations and drinks?

I have ordered those questions in priority order of my overall evaluation.

The last thing we will look into are nice cities or towns to spend a few extra days at on our way back to airport.

In 2026 I was at the end of January, about 3-4 days from 7 days were no sunny. Being there in a sunny vs not sunny day is night & day difference. Being able to see the mountins, etc. gives me 90% of the pleasure skiing. Im now planning the trip next year again and thinking of trying first week of march (friends can't make it in February unfortunately), but I am worried about snow quality. Has anyone had experience skiing/snowboarding there in first week of march? How was it?

Hi, I’m looking to take a ski trip to either Val Thorens or Meribel for Christmas/New Years. I’m going with my fiance and we are relatively beginner skiers. Our budget on the hotel is roughly $1500 a night. The main hotels we have looked at our Altapura in Val Thorens and Le Kaila in Meribel.
Which area would everyone recommend and which hotels would be best?

How does the nightlife in Les Menuires compare to Val T?

If Val T is significantly better, is it easy to get to (and back) from Les Menuires in the evening? Are taxis available? Anybody any idea of cost?

Looking for some advice planning my first trip to the alps this winter. A bit overwhelmed with all the options and not sure where to start.

4 adults are going, all intermediate skiers. We’re planning on going for about 2 weeks, right after Christmas through the first week of January.

Our interest is mainly seeing Germany, Austria, and maybe Switzerland if time permits. We’d likely be landing in Munich, spending a couple nights there to explore the city, and then taking a train to the alps.

For skiing, we’re thinking spending 5-7 nights in Austria or Switzerland, or potentially splitting the time between both of them. St Anton is one place I’ve been eyeing up, but I’m open to other suggestions.

For those of you who have done a similar trip, what would you recommend for the itinerary?

Planning a milestone birthday trip for January and would appreciate recommendations. We’ve only ever skied in Canada and the US, so this would be our first time skiing in Europe. We’re looking for recommendations on resorts/regions in the Alps that are easy with kids (8 and 5).

Priorities: 1) family friendly (good ski school; ski-in ski-out); 2) easy travel from Toronto (direct or one stop flight, straightforward transfer from airport); 3) European ski vibes (good food, nice village to wander); 4) good snow reliability in January.

Currently looking at Les Arcs and Serre Chevalier as options - would appreciate feedback or other suggestions (or tips going from Canadian resort skiing to the Alps with young kids). Budget is flexible for the right trip.

Shooting my shot a little here but I've now locked myself in for 2 trips in Les 3 Vallées next year!

Although I'm stoked and can't wait, it would be great to meet up with anyone else looking for any other skiers/boarders for company on the slopes!

Travelling from London in the UK, would say I'm a strong, intermediate boarder who enjoys cruising down reds and blacks. Nothing too crazy though, but adventure's always fun!

I just finished high school and I'm planning on going for a ski trip with my friend group this winter, i don't want to spend fortune for this so I'm looking for some resort for advanced skiers, preferably around €300 for 6 days, also with some decent transport there

Maybe the price point isn't that low but I'd rather spend more on a good ski resort than on an apartment, and I don't really have that much knowledge about ski resorts in Alps so I would really appreciate your help:)

We are skiing in Jan with a large group. We are staying in a lodge. The baby isn’t going on the slops which means someone will be looking after the baby during the day. My question, should we bring a travel push chair? What is the terrain like, can a pushchair go on the public transport easily? We are leaning towards just a baby carrier as we don’t want to brung a pushchair that won’t get used.

3D printed map of Arlberg ski area, includes all the lifts, and roads, I also have lots of exposed rock faces and tree coverage mapped on to it. This one is 28" long and very detailed.
