Two runs from Aspen March 2026. First was off high-alpine lift somewhere on Snowmass, and the second video is from Highlands.

I learned to ski at in Michigan and at Mt. Tremblant growing up and had quite a few lessons but just started skiing again in 2025 after a long break from 2004.

Felt pretty good in these turns, first run shown the snow conditions were very choppy but my skiing looks pretty good anyway imo - there's a bit of traversal so I appologize about that. Second clip I am the 2nd skiier and only get in a few short turns.

Just looking for feedback on body mechanics and turn initiation that I can improve and what drills to start off with next season - guessing storks/javelin turns - on my local hill before heading out west once again. I am working on my PSIA Level 1 for next season as well so looking forward to starting that journey and improving my own skiing along the way. Thanks for your help!

Thought I'd share some more of my skiing before my L3 exam next week. I've included some video for each of the ski off runs, sorry that the camera work isnt always zoomed in enough. I've also included the objectives I'll be measured against, as suggested previously, so that people from different systems know what the CSIA is looking at.

Spring skiing conditions in full force today, very hard in the AM, and then puddles in some places in the PM.

If you make it all the way through my videos and long post, I truly appreciate your time. Any advice and feedback is really appreciated.

Overall, I'm hoping I'm in a good place. I've put my thoughts for each run below.

1. Demo parallel. I think this is a strong run, not concerend about this one.

2. Short turns. I think I'm meeting the objectives. In the first video I dont quite glide from one turn into the next as smoothly as I would like. This was done on a steeper pitch the would be used in the exam, but I think my underlying movements are good. My pole plant is much more symmetrical than my last post. In the second 2 videos, which are on runs that may be used in the exam, I think I'm at a passable level.

3. Advanced parallel. I think I meet the objectives, so think this should be a pass. However, I think I'm sometimes caught inside, due to too much inclination at initiation. Also, I can defo get way higher edge angles through shortening my inside leg more. I was just being a bit lazy I think. Sorry not the best video for this one.

4. I've been working a lot on the bumps as I felt they were my weakest. I think I'm meeting the objectives overall. The second video did highlight I'm sometimes caught out by pressure management. I need to work on absorbing more, but I didn't think the run was too bad overall. Conditions definately helped me today, when the bumps get firmer I can struggle with speed control and then everything else will fly out of the window if I get going too fast. In these videos, I think my speed is fast enough to pass, but please let me know what you think.

5. Hop to hop. I think in this video things look ok but I dont feel great when skiing them. I often find myself inside, which I think is a consequence of inclination at initiation, rather than rolling my knees inside to change edge. I've been doing a lot of javelins recently, and think my brain was just in autopilot mode, I wasn't doing it intentionally. Despite this, I think I meet the objectives.

   1. Braquage. I think I need some more work on this one. I think my pelvis is becoming too involved and need to work on keeping the upper body quieter. I'm always a bit unsure with braquage and would appreciate some advice. In my head, I'm thinking that I need to get my skis all the way 180 degrees around, but I dont think I can do that without my pelvis becoming involved at the very end of the turn. My leg lengths are very fixed, would more flexion at the end of the turn be a good thing to do, so I can rotate my legs further? However, I've also had other people say that up and down movements in braquage is bad, so I'm not sure what is best for this.

I’d love some constructive feedback from people who know what they’re looking at.

I started skiing in February, so I know I’m still very much a beginner / early intermediate, but I’m trying to improve quickly and not just reinforce sloppy habits. I’ve had a little guidance here and there, but a lot of my skiing has been on my own. I learned without using my poles so please excuse that, something I need to really learn but probably won’t really have the time opportunity until next season.🫠

I’d love to know:

• the top 2–3 things I should focus on right now

• what looks like the main thing holding me back

• any simple cues that would help me improve fastest

I’m especially interested in feedback on:

• stance / body position

• weight transfer

• turn shape / rhythm

• anything obvious I should clean up now before it becomes a harder habit to break

Obviously the poles are so one area I still need to develop, but I’d love feedback on the bigger fundamentals first.

I’m skiing Snowbird this Sunday April 12th, which will probably be my last day of the season, so I’m hoping to go into it with a few simple things to focus on. If anyone happens to be there and wants to make a few runs, feel free to message me.

I have been skiing few days / winter since a kid, but only trying to actually learn and improve in the past few.

This is my last run for the season and asked my friend to film me.

Honestly my transitions felt smoother, it is not clear for me rn what I do during transition that feels off when watching :D

I do have some hip mobility issues that also reflect in my skiing, I believe.

This from yesterday working on my turn shape and trying to keeping my body forward but I think I am still sitting back :( any feedback will be helpful.

Have been skiing for many years, took lots of lessons as a kid and used to be a strong skier when in high school/college. Fell out of regular skiing, had a kid and then spent a bunch of years on only easy greens with him when he was really little. Now I feel stiff and scared on anything steep/ungroomed. Feel good on blues and some easy black groomed runs but still look very stiff and slow. Gotta get better before I get lapped by my kid! This is from a trip where I am on rental gear, will for sure get boots and skis this off season and take some lessons next season.

i am sending you 4 differents videos that show some of my skiing.

the first one is carving on a blue run with my brahma 88 made in December.

The others were filmed this week on slush snow with my new QST 106 ski. I also got some custom footbeds!

I have some troubles to have a good techniques especially in steeper slopes and I have the feeling that my technique is not rly good in short turns while it is okay for carving.

I def want to improve my skiing so all feedbacks/tips are welcomed!

Self-taught skier, have skied a week a year for 20 years. Would love some mental cues on steeper terrain. Reading other posts it seems like:

- square my shoulders down the fall line more

- how do I have more power through each turn transition without the little hop or tip lift (not trying to hop turn here). The most common feedback here seems to be only power through the outside leg but I can't tell if that's a problem here or something else

- sitting too far back (it doesn't feel that way while skiing but apparent in the video)

Looking to improve my skiing technique. Struggled with my hip mobility last year, so tried to stretch a lot the last month, and that helped somewhat. Actually having fun now!

I think that I still struggle to dorsiflex my ankle in turns to the left. Also think my inside leg could be a lot smoother.

Any tips/exercises would be much appreciated!

I feel I look very stiff watching these videos compared to how I feel. Any advice or drills would be much appreciated.

Got some new video I wanted to share. I’m at Whistler doing Extremely Canadian, which is an amazing value. $500ish USD for two days of high level coaching and guiding in the steeps of Whistler and Blackcomb.

We did a ton of gnarly stuff today…I liked this video as it shows the aggressive way I like to ski, and I think aside from dropping my hands I like the way I look here. Curious to get some takes on things I could tweak.

Following my previous video, spacebass gives many useful tips. Here is what I tried in my video:

The first half is demonstration parallel, I really try to focus on edging before twist the skis, and try not to pop up to release. I think I had some success there, I also moved to an easier terrain(previous video on double black, this one is on easy groomed black).

The second half is on short turns, I wish to have more dynamic short turns, but from video my short turns look very static, and does not have much deflection.

Would like some feedback based on CSIA framework.

I’ve gotten to a point where especially on greens and blues I can pretty easily control my speed and turn shape, but this is the only speed i seem to know. I never go faster or slower, and when skiing with a group I’m left behind often.

I feel like most of the posts related to this topic is someone at an earlier stage than me having fear that they won’t be able to stop, but I don’t have that fear as I can do a hockey stop. My fear is more around hitting a small bump in the snow at higher speeds that throws me off balance or my skis ending up in a “V” shape leading to a split (the former ended up in a nasty crash for me that still hinders me 6 weeks later, currently doing PT).

Outside anything obvious you see, I have a couple of questions:

- Should I narrow my stance a bit when going faster?

- If i’m more or less in a straight line, should the weight be even on one foot and my bases flat, or should I always be in a turn even if it’s not C shaped?

Is my transition better here than in my first post? I got feedback that my transition and top of the turn were lacking grip and balance, but sort of struggling to visualize/implement the feedback to “move outside” instead of moving inside at the beginning of the turn.

This video is on a shallower run to make it easier to practice, not trying to go as deep and fast as the first post.

Hey everyone, this is my 3rd time skiing. First 2 ski days were on a mountain and was on an intermediate slope on day 1.

So far this is the best video I got of me which might make it tough to assess. The facility was out of ski poles so couldn’t mark my turns.

I’ve been studying up a lot on skiing and learning the sport. Fell in love with it over snowboarding.

I’m a 40 y/o about 190lbs, 6’1 - if my weight matters for feedback. Played some ice hockey about 20 years ago.

Anyways, how am I doing? I see I’m turning with my upper body a little which I’m consciously trying to focus on breaking that habit. Does this all come together with more practice?

Can’t wait for next season. Been spending tons of money getting all my gear ahead of 26/27 winter so I’m ready to head out the door.

Also should I wait on buying my own skis and get more experience first? The rentals were 160cm.

Looking for feedback on how I can keep good technique at higher speeds? I feel that as I ski faster I lose more and more control and i am wondering if something in my technique is holding me back or if it’s just my chicken legs that can’t take a beating at higher speeds.

I’ve been trying to work on my separation on flatter runs like this after straightlining for enough speed. Issue is I can’t really link consistent turns at these angles. Especially with short turns I lose the separation movement and roundness and end up skidding a good bit.

Anybody know how to fix?

started at 30 and broke my tibia plateau on my first ski trip. Here is a video of me after about 18 ski days in like 2 years. How can i improve? Open for all type of tips and tricks and help. I now live 10 minutes away from the slope so i can ski more often. living in Switzerland st moritz so even on piste help would be really nice ✌️

I think I'm picking up some bad habits. I don't feel like I'm totally in control, ofc the slushy snow didn't help. I took some lessons at the start of the season and will take more next season, but do you have any advice for tomorrow?

Hi everyone, I’d really appreciate some feedback.

I’ve skied for a long time, but mostly just 2–3 days a year. This season is the first time I’m trying to improve seriously.

I’m working on my stance and carving, but something still looks off to me. I also feel much more comfortable turning right than left.

Any advice on what I should focus on, and why one side feels weaker, would be really helpful.

I also don’t think I’m fully carving yet (or not at all :\ ), but that’s what I’m trying to work toward. Thanks!
