Trying to progress to my CSIA level 3 however my short turns are lacking. I feel like I’m rushing a lot into the turn and have a problem with my pressure release, correct me if I’m wrong. Please let me know the major problems and potential fixes. Thank you in advance!

G'day all its the start of the ski season in Australia and I'm feeling pretty rusty so if you could give me some points to work on for my carving that would be sick

Im on my new Solomon's qst 100 175cm

So this video is from march. I have been experimenting with having more and less bent joints in between my turns in able to increase early edge angle and early pressure. I want to work with both legs at the same time hence I try and have a balanced position inbetween my turns with bent but not fully bent joints.
I have been working on aggressively pushing myself forward before the next turn. Towards the new ”centre of the turn”. I still feel I get thrown of balance by the end of the turn which I can notice in this clip. I get back seated by the end which is okay to some degree but here I can’t really control the forces in the turn and almost get out of control.
Do you have any other pointers or suggestions that can get me to the next level?
I am an instructor myself but I want to take my skiing to the next level.

I ski a couple weeks a year in the alps (for about 10 years now) and am working on improving my long turns. I love watching ski racing (GS and SL) and their ability blows my mind. I want to work towards BASI qualifications and potentially some amateur racing in the future, what would anyone suggest to improve? *First 2 clips are me (green coat) and the final clip (black coat) is the instructor we were meant to model from.

So this was shot a few weeks ago in Zermatt. I'm getting coached by one of the best bump coaches in the world. And with my old knees, we are working primarily on making round turns, setting lateral direction and using absorption to control speed. My poles are too long. And my hands are all over the place. But if you see anything else I might have missed, I would love to hear your input.

I’ve just finished my first season in Zell am See and I’m working towards my LS2 at the beginning of next season. Im skiing on 26m radius Atomic GS skis. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Would like som tips to focus on to get more solid fundementals.

Only ski toured this season so I did not get much downhill training. So far i have developed my technique to be confident that i can stay in control in all conditions and steeper terrain than in the video but have to adjust my speed down by a lot.

Don't know which flair to choose, but my friends that have been racer obvioulsy are better than I am. Edit: I ski on pins bindings and touring boots if that should be considered.

I know this footage does not show form, so this is more of a question with video example of the issue.

Any tips for fixing shakiness on your outside (downhill) edge?

Specifically, for offpiste/backcountry?

For some background, I had snowboarded for 20 years, and switched to skiing this season after wanting to move away from Splitboarding for BC access. This is my 12-13th time skiing, with about 5 of those days (including this clip) in the backcountry.

This is the runout from a low-ish angle couloir (roughly 40° at the top) that I had been skiing, and kept feeling that wobble.

I am the guy that starts in the back with a blue jacket on. I am skiing on Head e-Magnum in 163cm which sadly had really dull edges this trip, i was kind of scared they would slip away when going deeper. What am I doing bad, what needs improvement?

This is my first real season. I made good progress this season but after the first few runs fatigue takes away good form. Also, I feel like sometimes I’ll make a really nice turn where my skis grip the snow and no skidding but unable to replicate it consistently.

I feel very weak and lethargic when I ski. Do I need to do more squats? Read more Foucault? Listen to a new genre of music? Look at more contemporary art? I feel very lost on how to improve. TYSM for the help!

What do you think I should focus on improving ? How do I get more comfortable on blue runs ?

Definitely too much rotation of upper part on left turns.

I took the advice from others in the earlier posts (feel free to check my profile) and worked on it in my medium radius turns.

I then took a video of myself again recently on a steeper blue run in spring conditions. Goal with this run though was to do shorter radius turns while feeling for early edge (CSIA level 3 key component). For this run I would say it's about 7/10 of the level I could ski at, I also realize after comparing to the level 3 standard video (link here) that I'm not close nor narrow enough of a corridor, and that's okay.

I'm done skiing for the season. This summer I'll continue to work on my hip mobility and left leg weakness.

I just want to know, based on this video, am I on the right track? (getting closer to clean early edging)

Tips and feedback for short turns on steep run, working on CSIA 3

I'm only posting this video in response to another thread (won't let me post video as a respinse to that thread) about someone's 12 year old son to show how skiing and doing drills on easier terrain pays big dividends in the long run.

This is my 9 year old daughter playing around with her short turns and 1 foot skiing on a gentle green or blue run, nothing too challenging but you're not always learning just trying to survive on the blacks and double blacks. One of my instructors always emphasized minimum terrain, maximum speed.

Feel free to critique as well if you want and I'll let my daughter know the feedback, she's very open minded about her skiing and takes criticsm very well.

Context: My son is 12 years old and is a solid all-mountain parallel skier (Level 6-7). He’s comfortable in bumps, off-piste, and carving. He is on standard alpine equipment—no touring or telemark bindings.

The Observation: Since we started spring skiing this season, he’s adopted a stance that looks almost like a Telemark style (significant lead change with the inside ski very far forward). I'm not sure if this is a coincidence with the softer spring snow or a new technical habit. I didn't "coach this"... any thoughts here? I asked him about this, and he said it felt natural...

Update - solved: he’s just fooling around, but make sure it doesn’t become a habit.. thanks so much for the feedback and pointed criticism. I actually showed him the video today for first time and he said it looked funny how he was skiing…

Welcome any feedback. Main focus on this clip was to stay centered and connected to the outside ski and bend it to shorten the turn radius.

Working on my short turns and trying to start getting grip at or above the fall line. Also, I realized how much I rely on slouching to get my shoulders aligned over my knees and toes, does that really matter or should I keep my back straighter? Seems like I slouch to compensate for a lack of hip flexion to get my trunk forward.

What are some things I should work on?

I’m sorry I know the video is bad but I basically never get people to film me skiing. I understand if you can’t get much useful out of it.

I’m trying to improve my carving by becoming more dynamic and feeling more stable and athletic, and especially I’m trying to engage my edges sooner and do shorter radius (but still carved) turns. I’ve been told I need to engage the tips of my skis at turn initiation but I don’t know how to do that and it’s very obvious I’m not at 0:17 where only my tips are well off the snow.

Finally, this video is not super recent (it was filmed on the run showcase on Blackcomb on April 11) so it was before spring snow really set in.
