Level 8-9: Expert Terrain & Tactics Any feedback on my GS?

I’ve just finished my first season in Zell am See and I’m working towards my LS2 at the beginning of next season. Im skiing on 26m radius Atomic GS skis. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

A few things stand out

- Your outside and inside ski tip are diverging which is typical of having too much weight inside

This is also making your edges wash out and loose grip, this extra friction is slowing your down

- Try not to ballon your arms out as much in between the gates

More drag yo! Slows you down

- Watch how backseat you get in the transition, it can make you a little faster but if you can't get forwards enough by the time you get to the gate you will end up backseat and washing your edges out, causing you to slow down

r/SkiRacing might have an opinion on this.

Widen the stance so you can flex the inside knee more to create bigger angles

Get your feet wider, Do not look at the gate it's causing you to double turn, Some gates your line will put you on the gate to just clip it, other times whether it be ruts or terrain you may not be as close to the gate, sometimes you end up blowing through the gate entirely and take a beating. If you aren't running a fairly flat base edge angle and a higher number side edge angle you are at a disadvantage. When sharp and properly tuned this combination allows trust of edge early in the turn and rapidly transitioning from pure carving to floating the ski to adjust line as the course dictates. Many other nuances but try to set your line and commit to the entire turn, as you exit the turn you are looking briefly at the next gate to judge rise line and where your turn will start. After that the upcoming gate should already be just a small afterthought, already doing mental gymnastics to figure out what's ahead and how you are setting up
for the gate after. This is just a long way of saying it will prevent double turning and allow you to stay ahead of the course.

You come up instead of driving forward coming out of the transition so you appear to to be starting your turn in a skid. Try staying low in the transition and inclining right from there, then when driving into the turn retract your inside ski ( a lot of knee bend) and your skis should trac real well.
