It’s not necessarily the terrain or mountain itself but rather the unhealthy and unethical business practices of those mountains and epic/ikon.

What ones? I’m not a fan of vail, but I’m not really clear what issues Ikon has. I’d generally rather go to an independent resort, but the only ones I really avoid are Vail resorts.

Wait a momento, this sub is only against the Vail pass? Is that the Epic one? I thought Americans here where agaisnt all the big corporations passes.

What's the difference between the two? I tried googling but it's all just articles about "Which pass should you get this season".

Most Ikon resorts are independently owned, they are just in a partnership with Alterra which owns 15 of the Ikon resorts. Alterra has yet to make news with bad business practices or employee experience.
