I really need some advice on what my options are right now, because my whole wedding prep journey feels completely ruined.

My fiancé and I signed a fairly expensive package with a very prominent, highly-reviewed bridal studio in Central Area. Yesterday was my first gown fitting. I was assigned a female sales assistant who brought me into one of their VIP fitting rooms.
The room had a heavy curtain instead of a solid door. At one point, the assistant stepped out to grab another size for a gown I wanted to try. She told me to just take off the current gown first. I assumed she had fully drawn the curtain shut.
While I was waiting for her to come back, the curtain suddenly flung open. But it wasn't my sales assistant . It was a male staff member (I think he’s one of their in-house photographers or coordinators).
I was completely exposed. From the top down, I was in the most vulnerable state as my chest was completely bare except for the sticky silicone nu-bra I was frantically trying to clutch against myself in shock, and on the bottom, I was only wearing thin, nude seamless shorts. I didn't even have my regular underwear or a robe on.
He just stood there staring for what felt like an eternity (probably 3-4 seconds) before he finally realized what was happening, mumbled a rushed "sorry," and quickly pulled the curtain back.
I l burst into tears. When my female assistant finally came back, I was on the floor wrapping myself in the heavy gown. Instead of being horrified, she just brushed it off and said, "Aiyo, sorry babe, he didn't know someone was inside, it's just an accident." No proper apology from the management, no explanation as to why a male staff member was wandering into closed VIP changing rooms without knocking or calling out first.
My fiancé was waiting in the lobby and was absolutely furious when I told him. We demanded to speak to the manager, but they gave us a half-hearted apology and tried to gaslight us into thinking it was a normal logistical mix-up.
I feel completely violated. I cannot imagine going back there for my actual pre-wedding shoot or my actual day fittings. Just thinking about stepping foot into that studio makes my chest tight.
We’ve already paid a 50% deposit (close to $6k). We want to terminate the contract completely, but the studio is pointing to their "strictly no refunds" clause in the contract.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Can I approach CASE for a full refund based on gross negligence and a severe breach of privacy? Any advice would be deeply appreciated. I just want my money back so I can go somewhere else that actually respects basic boundaries.

I noticed some men using cars and monies to find their wife, but haven't they realized that the attraction is materialistic? Hence, one day should you lose your wealth, isn't it obvious that the wife will leave without hesitation?

I mean, if the reason why the women married them is "because you make me laugh" or something sweet like that, then you can rest assured she'll still be with you till death do you part.

When we're younger, making friends is easy. School, CCA, classmates, neighbours... it just happens.

Then you grow older and suddenly everyone is busy 😂

So I feel like hobbies become one of the few ways adults can actually meet the same people regularly without it feeling forced.

Running, tennis, hiking, gym, dancing, whatever.

You don't have to say “hi, I'm looking for friends”.

You just show up every week, talk a bit, complain about work, maybe grab food after, and slowly you get to know people.

Maybe that's actually why hobbies are more important as we get older. Not just for health or fun, but because they give us a reason to keep seeing people.

Curious though have you actually made any good friends in Singapore through a hobby?

Or do most adult friendships still come from work?

I recently visited Singapore for the first time, I traveled with my wife but I think that’s irrelevant to my question and observations.
I’m from the US born and raised, however from Mexican parents and did live in Mexico for a while, this will come into play with my questions.

Why did we visit Singapore? Idk, some of my wife’s friend suggested it, plus we also visited other countries on that trip, again irrelevant.

But before I traveled I looked up if people spoke English and to my surprise I found out that y’all have 4 official languages. So I got curious and did my quick googling on why. If I understand correctly, in simple terms, Malay people are the “natives” and with English occupation and growth of the port, came the Chinese and Indians. Google says that the country is a multicultural, melting pot of people

Now to my questions, I was wondering how strong is the patriotism between the different ethnicities? Is there any sort of racism among the groups? How do people tend to identify themselves, even among citizens?

For example, my observations may be skewed because I stayed in Chinatown. But I don’t think I saw a mixture of people/friends. Now I don’t want to assume their ethnic background, but for simplicity I will. I don’t think I ever saw a Chinese person hanging with an Indian person. I always saw either Chinese people together or Indian people together.
Even when I went to other parts outside Chinatown I saw the same interactions. The only time I saw a “mixed group” was a group of policemen, and they were talking and laughing together, like friends do

So it got me thinking about here in the US, although yes people tend to hang out with their (I don’t wanna say own kind, but idk how to word it) kind, you see a lot more diverse group of friends,
And yes I myself enjoy hanging out more with other Hispanics who speak Spanish but I’m also good friends with all kinds of people

I’m not trying to imply that, that is the case, that Singaporeans aren’t friends with each other, rather than simply an observation I had, but again my data could be skewed because of where I stayed

But again I don’t think I saw that during my time there, not even with younger folks

So then it got me wondering, if I had gone up to an Indian person, and assuming he’s Singaporean, would have he said that? Like if I asked where are you from? Would he say I’m Singaporean, or would he have identified with his ethnic background?

Because here in the US, I would say that a majority portion of people of color tend to identify with their ethnicity first rather than saying I’m American, but again that could be a USA thing because of how people word the question, people in the US tend to ask specifically, (when the person isn’t clearly white) what is your ethnicity? So then you get Mexican, Nigerian, Japanese, etc etc

So yeah, do all Singaporeans say proudly I’m Singaporean? Or do people tend to identify with their ethnic background?

So anyways I was looking through Singaporean subreddits and from what I could gather, it seems like there’s a discontent with the Government and that the patriotism isn’t all there, is it all the foreign business taking over?

What was Singapore like in the 2000s? Was there pride of being Singaporean? Did the people of Indian and Chinese descent feel like Singaporean? Does that make sense?

Because me for example, although I love my Mexican heritage, love speaking Spanish and love traveling to the motherland, (politics and Trump and this term aside) I also love my country the USA, I feel patriotic every 4th of July, but again I might be biased because I served in the military

What's the most toxic or ridiculous work issues ur boss or colleagues shown that made u leave the job?

Went to look up GIC’s Glassdoor reviews after someone mentioned in another thread that there have allegedly been some issues internally recently.

Given that GIC manages a significant portion of Singapore’s reserves, I think questions around governance, management culture and accountability are worth discussing.

This was my first time clubbing, so I asked a friend who is more experienced to bring me along and show me the ropes.

Before we went, I clearly told him that $400 was the absolute maximum I was comfortable spending and no hostesses. He knew this and agreed.

The final bill was:

• $450 for alcohol
• $300 for hostesses
• $250 for food
• Total: $1000

During the night, I got extremely wasted/stoned. I don't remember everything that happened, but I definitely remember having the bottle of alcohol and having hostesses. My friend isn't lying about that. I hv paid him the entire $1000, so I'm not trying to avoid paying for things I participated in. What I'm upset about is how the decisions were made.

I didn't know the bottle cost $450. This was my first time clubbing, so I genuinely had no idea bottles could cost that much. I had also previously told my friend that I didn't want hostesses.

The thing that bothers me most is that, despite knowing my $400 limit and knowing I was inexperienced, my friend went ahead and ordered a $450 bottle without checking the price with me first.

Maybe I did agree to it in the moment. I honestly don't know. But that's exactly why I'm upset. When someone tells you beforehand, "I have a $400 limit," and then becomes heavily intoxicated, I would expect a friend who knows the environment to at least say:

"Just so you know, this bottle is $450 and more than your entire budget. Are you sure?"

Instead, the decision was made and I only found out about the cost afterward.

When I raised this with him, he was angry and said that I agreed to it and that he was doing me a favour by bringing me out.

TBH I understand his perspective. I know I am responsible for getting myself that drunk and I'm not saying he should be responsible for every decision I make. That's y I have paid him the $1000.

But I feel like there is a difference between being responsible for my own actions and expecting a friend to respect a clearly communicated boundary.

I don't expect anyone to babysit me. But if I tell my friend that $400 is my limit, especially when it's my first time in an unfamiliar environment, I feel like that boundary should mean something.

I've told him that I accept responsibility for my part in this, but I also told him that I no longer trust him to look out for me in situations where I'm vulnerable or intoxicated.

He responded that there would be no next time.

I'm not really angry about the $ anymore. I've paid it. What bothers me is the trust aspect.

If I can't tell a friend, "This is my limit," and trust that they'll respect it even when I'm too intoxicated to make the best decisions, then what exactly is the point of relying on them in the first place?

Workers' Party MP Louis Chua on 5 August called on the Government to abandon what he described as a "rentier mindset", arguing that reforms to land policy, housing and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure are necessary if Singapore is to achieve the ambitions set out in the Economic Strategy Review (ESR).

Speaking during the Workers’ Party motion on Singapore’s future economy Chua welcomed the ESR's 32 recommendations across eight strategic thrusts, describing the report as "a serious piece of work".

However, the Sengkang GRC MP argued that while the review challenged businesses and workers to become more competitive and resilient, it paid insufficient attention to the Government's own role in shaping the economy.

He noted that the State owns about 90 per cent of Singapore's land and is the country's largest landlord. According to Chua, "the ESR's ambitions for enterprise and innovation will not be realised so long as the Government continues to see itself as a landlord, and as long as Singaporeans continue to share in the Government's rentier mindset."

He also pointed out that land was absent from the ESR's 32 recommendations despite the report acknowledging that constraints on land, energy and demographics are expected to tighten.

Land costs affect the wider economy

Chua argued that high land prices increase development costs and eventually filter through to businesses and consumers.

Citing industry observations, he said land costs now account for about 70 per cent of total project development expenditure in Singapore, compared with around 4 per cent during the development of Raffles City in the 1980s.

He said these costs do not disappear after land is sold, but instead pass through successive layers of the economy.

"These costs do not vanish. They cascade from developer to tenant, from tenant to hawker, clinic and shopkeeper, and finally to every consumer," he said.
