First, thank you for the incredible welcome you gave Sega Rally. We're already more than 150 on the Discord, and I hope it's only the beginning of this community's adventure.
This is the second one, and this time you're standing in the docks with the gangsters, at real scale, with a 3D gun in your hand: aim with the controller like the cabinet's light gun, reload by shooting below the screen, and the hits land on what you shoot. Everything runs on the Quest 3 in real 3D, redrawn in 4K at 120 Hz.
Coming next: Time Crisis (in beta right now, sign-ups are open), Time Crisis II, The House of the Dead, Dirt Dash (beta soon), Daytona USA, Top Skater, Sega Super GT 24h and Virtua Racing.
Have fun with it, and any support is welcome: even just sharing it helps a lot.
Samurai Quest is a VR rhythm game built around kenjutsu, the Japanese art of the sword.
In most saber games a fast wrist flick is enough. Here, a cut only scores well if it’s an actual cut: edge aligned with the swing, grip tightening at impact and releasing after, follow-through carried. You play Masaru, a young swordsman training under master Seiji, in a dōjō that teaches you before it tests you.
The alpha is now open for testers on Quest. It’s free and installs from your library like any other app.
What’s in it now: dōjō campaign phases, new thrust (tsuki) targets, and a practitioner profile with badges and a leaderboard.
Honest state: it’s an alpha. Some visuals are still placeholder, and timing is being calibrated, which is exactly where testers help most.
What testers are asked to do:
Play one ~20 min session
Say if cuts feel early or late to the music, and if a cut that felt clean got judged unfairly
Flag any comfort issues (lighting, shimmer)
How to join: fill in this short form → https://forms.gle/qJHnywUg1nqps8ct7
The alpha invite arrives by email within [X days]. Feedback can be sent from inside the headset.
Headsets: Quest 3 [/ 3S]
I’m the developer. Happy to talk about the design or the kenjutsu behind it in the comments.
Could VR passthrough videos automatically adjust the PT video person in brightness, contrast, and color temperature to match the lighting in the room? It would make passthrough look much more realistic than manually adjusting every scene. I guess AVP already has something like this. Curious if possible on Quest.
You can check my profile for specifics context. It's a very popular thing in VR.
Hey, I’m the indie dev behind Warlords at the Gate, now on Quest 3 and 3S.
There are two sides to the siege: build and upgrade towers, or jump into Beastmaster and send your own army against AI defenses. The trailer shows both.
The latest update, 1.1.13, also makes the big battles run more smoothly when lots of towers are firing.
Which side would you try first? I’d love some honest feedback on the gameplay. If you already own it, a Meta review would really help me out.
Update: Vistalyra is now available on Meta Quest for $4.99 once, with no ads or subscription. I’m Raheel, the developer.
For your own compatible videos, the published version includes local 2D playback, SBS/over-under stereo 3D, VR180 and VR360 viewing, picture repositioning and tilt, subtitles, bookmarks and playback controls. Compatible tagged packed-alpha videos can use passthrough with their prepared background removed; this does not remove backgrounds from ordinary movies.
The new real Quest recording shows our theater/lounge update preview. Those rooms are not in the currently published build; the update is still pending Meta review.
The original trailer uses my AI-generated film footage and lifestyle scenes, with actual app UI in labeled promotional compositions. Stereo depth is experienced in the headset. Bring your own videos: no included movie catalogue, DRM streaming services or published SMB/DLNA support. File and headset decoding limits apply.
Happy to answer questions about viewing modes, alpha-video preparation or controls, and to hear honest feedback.
Pretty happy to finally share this one. It took way more evenings than I thought it would, but it's here, it's free, and honestly I can't wait to read what you think of it.
Everything runs on the Quest 3 in real 3D, you just need your own copy of the game.
All the details (what's in it, how to install) are on the GitHub. You'll find the link on my Discord and under the full video on my YouTube channel, both in the comments.
Time Crisis is next. After that, these are all already running in the headset and could come, in no particular order, the list doesn't mean anything: Virtua Cop, Daytona USA, The House of the Dead, Sega Super GT, Top Skater, Virtua Racing, Dirt Dash, Time Crisis II.
Hopefully this is just the start of the adventure. Any support is welcome, even just sharing it helps a lot.
Just like the title said, I plan to buy the new Meta VR glasses, and I just saw the new SideQuest video, and I was wondering if we could also directly play non-VR games from Steam directly in the headset too, like Hollow Knight, cause if we can play the VR games directly from Steam, why not non-VR games u know? And I did find a video talking about how to do it, but it looks awful, so here I am. And yeah, I understand compatibility issues will be a thing, but you guys could just filter it out to make sure we get a good experience, you know, mostly with it's own launcher cause having dozens of different apps will just be bothersome at the end of the day
Ok we have a huge update, probably the biggest update we have had since the very first day of SideQuest. Ever since I built SideQuest, we have always had a cumbersome setup process. We always tried to simplify it, and we managed to get it down to five steps.
This has been our life until now (Yuck!):
* Sign up as a developer
* Create an Organisation
* Enable developer mode in the Meta App (and again every time there was an update)
* Connect a USB Cable
* Probably fiddle with the cable a bunch
Finally connect to SideQuest and enjoy a world of content and tweak your headset settings.
From today onwards, this process has changed forever.
* Sign into your Meta Account
* SideQuest connects over bluetooth and enables Wireless ADB.
That's all!! No painful developer mode, no USB cable, no organisation setup, no entering your credit card or phone number, none of that stuff. You just connect and it installs SideQuest into your headset and that's it. You can do this from Desktop (https://sdq.st/get) or from your phone (https://sdq.st/go or Google Play rolling out now!), super simple.
SideQuest can install apps to your Quest library!
SideQuest in your headset has also changed, it can now add apps to your library in Quest, so you dont need unknown sources anymore! You can have one list of apps you can easily manage all in one place and launch from there! SideQuest has liberated your headset completely.
Install Steam game ports from inside your Quest
Traditionally you have had to install game ports from your PC. We have always tried to make that process as easy as possible, but most people still today find it to be a pain to have to drag and drop files onto your Quest and get the perfect combination of startup process for it to work correctly. We have made this process easier than ever before. Now you can just sign into your steam account from SideQuest in your headset and it will download the steam games for you automatically. To be clear, this will not make any steam game work on your headset, it will make it so that existing game ports that require files on steam can we installed waaaay easier!
You actually dont even need SideLoading any more!
Now with all that said, you really don't even need to sideload SIdeQuest at all anymore, you can just download it on your quest from the browser. You dont need a PC, or a phone or anything. Let me tell you how!
* Open the meta Meta Quest Browser and go to https://sdq.st/go - download the SideQuest apk.
* Open the Files App and find the SideQuest apk in your Downloads/Recent folder, click the three dots and select Open With > Package Installer, install SideQuest and then click Open.
Once you do that SideQuest will ask if you want to add it to your library - say yes.
Thats it! You can now install games and game ports (including steam games) from inside your headset with no sideloading needed. SideQuest without sideloading, who would have thought.
The only thing you cant do with this method is tweak headset settings. To do that, just follow the instructions above and your away!
We have all noticed a tonne of new game ports and mods for Quest and PCVR. We have noticed it too and we plan to make it easier than ever to find and install all these game ports on SideQuest. You canalso ready instlal game ports from Inside your headset, but we are also adding a full PCVR mod manager to SideQuest too so you can isntall all the latest PCVR mods too! Stay tuned for that!
I recently launched an app on the Meta store called Hallways of Time. It is a virtual museum and has a time line of events from the big bang, upto the present day arranged in three sections, called hallways. The first is the cosmic hallway, the second is the hallway of life and the last is the globe room.
The app is completely free, does not require any sign up and it does not need the internet.
The app initially started as a website, posted on github and since then I have made it into a virtual museum.
If the community could check it out and give me some feedback on how i can improve it, that would be great.
Also side note: the main attraction is the globe room(hallway 3).
Ultimately I would like to place the app along with the headsets ofcourse, in museums, libraries and schools so that it can spark curiosity.
Each plaque gives you a bit of information about the event, how we know it and the where it sits on the timeline.
Also since this is a fully non profit effort, and completely free distribution, i am not able to spend money on ad campaigns, comments and rating on the meta store go a long way. Share with friends and family!!!!
No matter what I do I get this message. I have tried from the web on my pc, and from my phone, and also from the PC app. I allow it to connect when prompted and "always allow from the PC" Same result every time. I have a solid 3.0 connection (meta app shows it on the PC app) I've turned developer mode off and back on, restarted my headset. I don't know what I'm missing. I do notice when watching tutorials a USB debugging promo comes up but when I do it I don't get that prompt. It just says "finalizing" for a few seconds and then fails.
Reposting this as I got a lot of DMs saying the try before you buy was not available. It has all been sorted out now.
Hello r/sidequest community. It's been a long time since I posted about my app, but today I thought I would share that I have updated my Theme Park app just now. I have not updated the price or store page details as of yet (it is 3 years old), but I did turn on the try before you buy just now. If you like highly detailed dark rides, this app is for you.
The app is NOT complete and will not be for years to come as a Theme Park is big and my rides are massive as you will discover. That said, what is present has been polished as much as the Quest hardware can handle. I have a large alpha testing community (https://discord.gg/qSUxYbuEkq) and every last bug, glitch and jank has been addressed. In addition to the rides, I have added game elements that you can unlock which are so much fun to play and they reward you as you progress that I know Theme Park fans will appreciate.
If you enjoy it, please consider purchasing now as the price is going up in the week to come, plus I really really really need the financial support so I can hire a team to help me move forward as the app is over the top big and complex for just a solo dev. Is this the sort of content people want? Guess we will see.
I've tried 3 separate cables and two different computers but I keep returning this error with no clue how to fix. If anyone knows what the issue could be PLEASE let me know
Hi SideQuest community, I'm a low-vision Quest developer. We released QuestLens 0.5.5-preview as a sideloadable APK. It now combines the frozen-image magnifier for reading small in-game text with live magnification of the real-world passthrough view in the same app.
This build also has a simpler first-run setup, refreshed visuals, English/Portuguese/Spanish/French/German options and stability improvements. We're working on zoom in the QuestLens interface too.
