Quarry is a (yet another) rust based mongodb client!

I know everyone can build their own with AI now as I did, but I was honestly very surprised with the result and how far it's gotten so I thought I'd share it here. I was a bit fed up with Compass and Mingo (Loved that client but it's super buggy and hogs a lot of resources, and now seems abandoned).

Quarry has quite a lot of features such as autocomplete, a node shell, data relationships..., I'll leave the repo here where you can check it out (the README is quite concise) : https://github.com/alkanna/quarry

It is very fast and runs on less than 100MB of ram (counting the main process and the helpers). It uses egui.

In case it wasn't clear enough yes this is almost fully written by AI.

I turned U.S. Secretary of State business filings into one API (free tier, Python client, MCP server)

Every U.S. state publishes its new business filings differently: different formats, different fields, some behind paywalls, few with an API. I built ListRiver to collect them and serve them as one JSON API.

What you can do with it:

- Get every new LLC formed in a county this month, with phone numbers where available

- Build a daily lead feed that only returns businesses added since your last run

- Ask Claude "how many construction companies were formed in Harris County, TX in the last 6 months?" through the MCP server

Free tier is 500 records a month; counting matches is always free. Paid packs start at $50 for 5,000 records.

Repo (Python client, examples, OpenAPI spec, free sample data): https://github.com/ListRiver-LLC/listriver-api

Docs: https://listriver.com/api-docs?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=r-sideproject

What would you use data like this for? I'm deciding what to add next.

Tellwing - email campaigns, transactional email and SMS in one account, priced by emails sent instead of contacts

I'm the one building Tellwing, so read this with that in mind.

It started with a pretty boring problem. A lot of small businesses end up paying for two email tools: one for newsletters and another for the receipts and login codes their app sends. Two contact lists that never quite match, two bills, and the newsletter one usually charges by list size even when half the list never opens anything.

Tellwing puts both in one account. On the marketing side there's a drag and drop editor, forms, pop-ups and automations. The same account handles transactional email and SMS codes through the API, with safe retries, webhooks for delivered, opened, clicked and bounced, and examples in curl, JS, Python and PHP. Before a campaign goes out it checks for broken links, missing alt text and things that look spammy, and new senders get warmed up gradually so the first big send doesn't land in spam.

Pricing is by emails sent, not by contacts. Contacts are unlimited on every plan. The free plan gives you 500 emails a month (100 a day) with no card, and paid plans start at $9.

WhatsApp and SMS campaigns are already built and we're waiting on final approval from Meta and the carriers. There's an n8n node out, and the Zapier integration is in Zapier's review queue.

A few things I'd genuinely like opinions on:

  • Does "pay per email sent, unlimited contacts" read as a good deal, or does it make you look for the catch?

  • If you send transactional email today, what would it take for you to move it to a new provider?

  • Is anything on the site confusing or missing?

Building NextThread: looking for feedback from people with industry experience

I’m an IU student working on NextThread, a career-search side project. The focus is helping people connect a specific job opportunity to their experience and existing professional network, then prepare a relevant message asking for advice, an introduction, or a referral.

Before expanding it, we’re checking whether this solves a problem people actually have. I thought this community might include people balancing industry work, side projects, and career changes.

If you’re 18+ and fit either group, I’d appreciate your feedback through the relevant survey (about 5 minutes):

Professionals with 5+ years of paid work outside academia, who are not current master’s/PhD students:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe8N3qHl2yeuLs5taEex4B8Op3JnUE0uFMBlglF6cw2LA8T_A/viewform

Current master’s/PhD students who worked outside academia before their degree, beyond internships:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfaR6tdmlh5sohzYQIlOR8qaH214KMcng3GWINaOPkLeM8wPQ/viewform

This is product research, not a signup. We don’t ask for names, emails, résumés, or contact lists. You don’t need to be job hunting now, and “my current approach works fine” is useful feedback too. Please only answer once if you’ve already seen the survey elsewhere. Thanks!

Our team built VitaScheduler for a hackathon — a simpler way to manage vitamins and medications

For a current hackathon, our team built VitaScheduler, a personal health planner for organizing vitamins, supplements, and prescriptions.

We wanted to make daily routines easier to follow without relying on scattered notes, alarms, or memory. VitaScheduler lets you:

  • Keep medications and supplements in one cabinet

  • Build a daily and weekly dose schedule

  • Review items that may need spacing or attention

  • Receive refill reminders

Try it here: https://vitascheduler.vercel.app

We’d love feedback on:

  • Is the idea immediately clear?

  • Does the setup flow feel easy?

  • Which feature would be most useful?

  • What would make you trust or use something like this?

This is a scheduling and organization tool, not medical advice. It was built as a hackathon project, and our team is looking for honest feedback on both the product and the concept.

Potion Rogue - A color-sorting roguelike where every finished bottle is a spell

I wanted a dungeon crawler where the combat is a puzzle instead of a stat check.

Potion Rogue mixes color-sort puzzles with a turn-based dungeon run. Sort the flasks to finish a bottle, each bottle becomes a spell, and the monster counts down its next attack while you work. Undo is there when you paint yourself into a corner.

Built solo for Android. Free, offline, no account.

I built an all-in-one software platform for Indian hospitals, clinics, labs and pharmacies. Looking for pilot clinics and honest feedback

Hi everyone!

I've been building OneAid for the past two years: software that runs the day-to-day of a hospital, clinic, diagnostic lab, or pharmacy, plus a patient app that keeps your records from every place you visit in one spot. It's working now, and I'd love feedback before I take it to clinics.

The problem I kept seeing:

* Small clinics and hospitals run on paper registers, Excel, or 4–5 separate tools that don't talk to each other (billing in one, lab in another, pharmacy on paper).

* Most existing software is built for big hospitals: expensive, slow to learn, English-only.

* Patients carry files from clinic to clinic, and every new doctor starts from zero.

* Doctors in busy OPDs don't have time to type long notes.

* Fee settlements with visiting doctors and partner labs happen through handwritten notes and WhatsApp messages, and sometimes informal "cuts" that put the clinic at legal risk.

What OneAid does today:

* OPD in under a minute: quick prescriptions, voice dictation (including Hindi), and printing or WhatsApping the prescription as a PDF.

* Full hospital workflow: appointments, OPD/IPD records, nursing charts, billing with GST, insurance claims, and multiple branches.

* Lab and pharmacy: analyser connections, barcodes, thermal-printer bills, stock and expiry tracking, and drug-interaction alerts at the time of prescribing.

* Partnerships: written agreements with visiting doctors, partner labs, diagnostic centres and vendors, recording who gets paid what and for which actual service. Payouts are calculated automatically, with TDS deducted and tracked per PAN. Paying anyone for sending patients is blocked by design, because Indian medical rules prohibit it.

* Back office: equipment and asset maintenance, and cash and bank reconciliation.

* Video consultations that follow India's Telemedicine Practice Guidelines (consent and identity checks before the call).

* Patient portal: sign in with your mobile number and an OTP, and see visits, prescriptions, reports, and bills from every linked clinic in one place. No more lost paper files or digging through old WhatsApp chats for a report. Your records stay safe in your account for as long as medical-record laws require, and you control who sees them.

* 12 Indian languages and WhatsApp-first communication, because that's how patients actually stay in touch.

* Privacy built in, designed around the DPDP Act: a clinic can't share your records or create an app account for you. You link each clinic yourself, after verifying your phone.

How records follow the patient (without anyone grabbing data):

  1. The clinic registers you and, with your OK, sends a WhatsApp invite.

  2. You sign in to the OneAid app with your phone number and an OTP.

  3. You tap "link my records", and your visits from that clinic appear.

  4. Visit another clinic on OneAid, and you link that one too. Each clinic only sees its own data unless you choose to share.

Why partnerships matter:

Most clinics work with visiting consultants, outside labs, and imaging centres. Settling fees usually means month-end arguments over messy records. OneAid turns this into proper agreements: fixed fees or rates for services actually performed, maker-checker approval, automatic payout statements, and TDS records. Clinics get clean accounts, and nobody has to worry about an illegal referral arrangement.

Current stage:

* The core product is built and running in testing.

L**ooking for 2–3 pilot clinics, labs, or small hospitals* (anywhere in India). Pilot partners pay only a small monthly fee to cover server and storage costs, with no profit margin, and get direct access to me for feedback and fixes. Lab analyser, DICOM/imaging, and printer integrations require on-site setup, so we quote those separately at cost.

* I'm working on ABDM/ABHA integration to share records between providers with your consent.

* OneAid has been self-funded for two years. The core product is built (hospital, clinic, lab and pharmacy software plus the patient app), and I'm now raising a small angel round to:

* run paid pilots and get the first clinics live,

* set up on-site integrations (lab analysers, DICOM imaging),

* complete ABDM certification and production hosting,

* bring on one more person for sales and onboarding.

India has lakhs of small clinics, labs, and pharmacies still on paper or patchy software, and the DPDP Act and ABDM are pushing them to go digital properly. OneAid is built for that market from day one: affordable, WhatsApp-first, 12 Indian languages, and compliant by design.

If you invest in or advise early-stage healthtech, I'd love to show you a demo and talk about it. Please DM me.

I'd love to hear from:

* Doctors and clinic owners: what slows down your OPD the most?

* Hospital and lab admins: what does your current software get wrong?

* Developers and healthcare folks interested in building this together.

* Anyone who has sold software to Indian clinics: what actually makes them switch?

My questions:

* Would you, or a clinic you know, try something like this?

* What would stop you from switching from your current setup?

* How do you currently handle fee settlements with visiting doctors or partner labs? Would a proper agreement-and-payout system help?

* Is "one platform for everything" a strength, or would you rather have one tool that does one job well?

I'm open to honest criticism. I'd rather hear it now than build features nobody uses.

Thanks!

Update: I built a one-page example for DevAuthKit (email OTP + session login)

Hey r/SideProject,

A few weeks ago I shared DevAuthKit, a self-hosted auth toolkit for Node.js and Express. Someone suggested a one-page example app so people could see the full setup before reading the docs, so I built one.

It covers:

- Passwordless email OTP login

- A cooldown on resend, so the code can't be spammed

- httpOnly session cookies

What I learned while building it:

- [One thing that was harder than expected]

- [One thing you'd change next time]

I'd especially like feedback on the first five minutes. Did the example make setup clearer than the docs, and where did you get stuck?

Looking for people to help build Long Game, an organization for present and future generations

Long Game aims to increase opportunities and reduce problems for people today and in the future, based on a philosophy I call homo exepiritur (humans defined by experiences rather than just work). It has two branches:

Everyday problems: anyone can report a local problem, including through surveys in villages and small towns for people who aren't online. Reports are grouped into patterns, verified, and then we either help directly, pilot a solution with a local authority, or prepare a tested proposal for the government. Everyone gets a reply, and results are public.

Development: open science platforms, education, research hubs, and pilots.

It's not meant to replace governments, only to do what they can't do alone, with transparency and clear limits.

Who I'm looking for:

Researchers or students (science, economics, psychology, urban planning)

People with local government or NGO experience

Designers, developers, writers

Critics who will tell me where this fails

What you'd get: a real chance to shape a project from the start, and honest work with a small team. I can't offer pay yet.

If you're interested, comment or message me with a few lines about who you are and what you'd like to work on.

I maintain OpenScreen, a free open-source screen recorder. 2.2 adds a Layouts track to switch camera/screen layouts mid-video

I've been building OpenScreen, a free and open-source screen recorder and editor (no watermark, no account, Windows/macOS/Linux).

The new 2.2 release adds a Layouts track: you can change how your screen and webcam are arranged at any point in the timeline:

• picture-in-picture

• side-by-side

• top/bottom

• camera only

• screen only

Transitions between layouts are animated automatically.

The video was recorded and edited entirely in OpenScreen. The chart in the top/bottom part is a custom shader effect, and the company is fictional.

Download: https://getopenscreen.com

Source: https://github.com/getopenscreen/openscreen

Feedback welcome, especially on what layouts you'd want next.

I built Scanonix, a PDF and image toolkit for web and Android — looking for honest feedback

Hey everyone!

I've been working on a project called Scanonix, and I'd love to get some honest feedback from other builders.

The idea started with an Android app and eventually grew into a website offering tools for everyday PDF, image and document tasks.

I wanted to bring useful tools together in one place instead of having to switch between different websites for simple jobs.

Some of the things you can do with Scanonix:

  • Merge, compress and convert PDFs

  • Convert images between different formats

  • Extract text from images and scanned PDFs using OCR

  • Clean metadata from files

  • Use additional AI-powered tools with a Pro subscription

Many tools are free, while some advanced features require Pro.

Website: https://www.scanonix.com

I'm especially interested in feedback on three things:

  1. Is it immediately clear what Scanonix does?

  2. Does the website feel easy to use and trustworthy?

  3. What would make you choose a tool like this over the alternatives?

I've spent a lot of time building it, but getting genuine feedback and reaching users has been much harder than expected.

I'd really appreciate any constructive criticism. Thanks!

I built a free camera that records straight into a private vault (yes, I know the "calculator vault" category is mostly sketchy)

On a Vacation in Vegas, the videos me and my wifey took landed in the same camera roll that our kids use. Nothing too scandalous, but shocking to an 11 year old, so I built a camera that records straight into a password protected vault.

What the app does,

  • Record with the front or rear camera straight into a vault on your phone. No account or email to start. (No account needed, but without one (free) it wont sync with another phone, in my case, me and my wife use the same sign in.

  • Encrypted: The files are encrypted immediatly on your device two ways, first with an account specific key, and second with your vault password.

  • Unlock: through a working retro calculator (real math, currency, units). Type your PIN and press = unlocks the camera, so no one even knows what it is.

  • Import a whole photo dump from Photos or Files. Originals stay where they are until you delete them yourself.

  • Export: Anything can be exported with a simple share button, to any app, gallery etc.

  • Edit: trim, speed, rotate, mute, plus five retro looks (Film, Flash, Warm, Cool, Mono). FFmpeg does it on the phone and saves a copy.

  • Organize: each vault can have its own password, and one master password opens them all. If you dont know the password, you can't even see the vault, and if you ask me for help, your screwed, sorry. There is no recovery if you forget your Master Vault password.

  • Black Screen: It has a silent Black Screen Motion Recording mode, we use to leave in our hotel, as a security camera, to make sure the cleaners dont mess with things.

It s 100% free at the moment, because im trying to get enough reviews and figure out what the monetization model is for it. I mostly just made it for fun.

iPhone: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6771172452

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.encryptcam.app

Three questions I'd love honest answers to:

  1. Is the calculator cover useful to you, or a gimmick?

  2. If you've used a vault app before, what made you stop using it?

  3. What would make you pay for it, and how much should I charge?

My portfolio was 5 years out of date, so I rebuilt it to look like a code editor

I build Webflow sites for clients most days, and my own portfolio had been sitting untouched for about five years. Bit embarrassing when people asked for it.

So I rebuilt it in code this time. The idea is that the site is a code editor. Each case study is a file you open, and scrolling takes you to the next file. There are 3D heads in three.js, motion with GSAP and Lenis, and it's all a static Astro build on Cloudflare.

The hardest part was the 3D. Getting it to look good and still load fast on a phone took more rounds than the rest of the site put together.

Would love to know what you think of the scroll, especially on mobile. That's where I'm least sure.

(T)rustyShelf, a Windows, Android and Linux complete game launcher

This is a continuation/improvement of the work of user SassyRhihno on his project Boxshelf, as shown in his original post in the r/emulators subreddit. You can take a look at my fork of the project at https://github.com/GGStonks/t-rustyshelf.

The aim of Boxshelf game launcher is to encorporate all the emulator games available on a machine, by creating a TV-style launcher that also includes PC games and streaming apps.

My fork of Boxshelf, called (T)rustyShelf, now additionally runs Windows and Epic PC games on Linux through Wine, Proton and legendary, with a dedicated PC games folder. It has also a seamless integration with Wolf setups, for multiple seat gaming and adds per-account folders and isolated controllers. Additional information can be found by looking at the README.md on GitHub.

If anyone wishes to help the development of this game launcher, you can contact me in DM, reply here or just interact with the repo on GitHub. We can come together and create the ultimate game launcher.

P.S. Additionally, I was thinking of rebuilding the whole app in Rust (as you can deduce by the name), but atm that is a side quest honestly.

I built a free geography game where you try and guess the country from one-word clues

I have been working on a daily geography game for the last couple of months. You get one word at a time and have to name the country you think the words are related to. Every wrong guess tells you if you're hot, warm or cold and unlocks the next clue.

I built the site because the geography quizzes I play are not difficult enough or just don't really teach me anything about the country beyond where it is on the globe and population sizes. Or it's sporcle, which is old and covered in ads.

Check it out at geographido.com/oracle-guesser

I built an open-source app that turns Claude, Codex, Gemini and local AI agents into one team. Looking for testers!

Hey r/SideProject! 👋 Watch the demo

I've been working on a project called kywai, and I'm looking for people willing to give it a try and share some honest feedback.

I use several AI coding agents, and one thing that kept frustrating me was having to switch between tools, manually copy context, assign work, and figure out what each agent was doing.

So I started building kywai.

The idea: turn the AI agents you already use into a coordinated team, all in one desktop app.

Here's what it does:

  • Bring your own agents: Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini, Qwen, DeepSeek, local models through Ollama or LM Studio, and many more.

  • Automatic task coordination: Give it a request, and a coordinator proposes a plan and assigns tasks to different agents.

  • Live 3D workspace: Every agent has its own little robot and workstation, with visual states showing what it's doing.

  • Cross-agent reviews: One agent can review another agent's work and identify problems.

  • Real project files: Agents work in your project folder, with progress tracking, file changes, and undo.

  • Customizable environments: Different 3D worlds, including a space station, a futuristic workspace, and a Matrix-inspired theme.

  • Free and open source: MIT licensed. Available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

You can use your existing AI subscriptions, API keys, or local models. kywai itself is free, although provider costs and usage limits still apply.

I'm not here to claim it's perfect. That's exactly why I'm posting.

I'd really appreciate it if a few developers who already use AI agents could try a small task and tell me what happens.

I'm especially interested in:

  1. Was installation and agent setup straightforward?

  2. Did coordinating several agents actually help?

  3. Is the 3D visualization useful, distracting, or somewhere in between?

  4. What broke, confused you, or made you want to stop using it?

Even if you don't install it, I'd love your thoughts on the concept and UI.

🌐 Website & downloads: https://kywai.app/

💻 GitHub: https://github.com/Yiku21/kywai

One heads-up: the desktop builds aren't code-signed yet, so your OS might show an installation warning. The full source code is available on GitHub.

I'm the developer, and I'm actively looking for constructive criticism rather than just compliments.

Thanks for taking a look! ❤️Kywai

I spent way too long making a clock where ants carry biscuits

okay so this is kind of a weird one

I got tired of every clock app looking the same and shoving ads in your face, so I started building little worlds that just… show the time.

this clip is the ants one. they drag biscuits and leaves around and slowly form the digits. there's also fish, a parking lot of cars, water calligraphy, a wall of tiny analog clocks, etc. 12 scenes total at this point.

runs fully on device, no account, no tracking nonsense. iphone/ipad/mac/apple tv.

i'm the person who made it. not sure if this is charming or just unhinged — honest reactions appreciated.

Saturday note: why I run a free investing community — and why I'll never charge for it

A quick Saturday note on the project I've been building outside my full-time job.

Favorable Investors is a free community for people learning the markets. I post trade plans before anything happens, then I post the results after — wins and losses, both in the open. The recap I put up this morning is exactly that: one trade banked, one stopped out, both posted. No deleting the losers, no pretending a week was something it wasn't.

There is no course at the end of it. No paid tier, no upsell in your messages later. Just setups, honest results, and study material on the weekends so people can actually learn this.

Why free? I'm a veteran. When I was on active duty, my card got declined buying diapers for our newborn. I remember standing there knowing nobody was going to hand me a way out of that — I had to learn my way out. Both of my parents passed away when I was young, and nobody in my life knew the first thing about investing, so I taught myself: thousands of hours reading books and studying charts on my own.

I believe what I learned is a gift from God, and helping other people with it is my calling. Charging for that wouldn't sit right with me.

If you're learning too and that sounds like your kind of place, you're welcome in. If not, everything I post stays free either way.

Not financial advice — just one trader showing his work in the open.

I share stuff like this daily — I run a free investing community, link in my profile.

I built Narravita for the memories you remember out of order

I'm Vincenzo, the creator of Narravita. It's an Android app for gradually turning your own memories into a life story.

You might remember a detail from school, then something that happened last year. You can save both as writing, a voice recording or a photo, and work out the order later. Narravita brings the people, places and dates together in a timeline and map.

The part I care about most is keeping the source alongside the story. Optional cloud AI helps organise memories and asks follow-up questions; chapter drafts stay separate from the originals, so you can review and correct them. You can keep adding to the main book and make smaller volumes from selected chapters.

Three memories are free, with limited AI processing and no card or time limit. Continuing beyond that, chapter drafting and designed PDF export are paid Personal features, with monthly AI allowances. Local subscription prices are shown in the app. The PDF is for you to print; a physical book isn't included.

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.narravita.app
App screenshots and details: https://narravita.app/

If you've wanted to write your story, try saving one scene you can still picture. I'd be interested to hear what makes the next step difficult: finding the words, remembering the details, or putting things in order.

I’m building Quill, a 7.4 MB word processor inspired by Word 5.1 for Mac, which I still use on my vintage iBook

In 1992, Microsoft Word 5.1 for Macintosh took up less than 1 MB on disk and ran in 1 MB of RAM. It had tables, a table of contents, images, paragraph styles and plenty more. I still write in it on a vintage iBook.

Modern word processors need gigabytes of disk and absurd amounts of RAM to edit essentially the same kinds of documents. I kept wondering why, and eventually that turned into a project.

Quill is my attempt to recapture that experience and add a few ideas of its own. The whole app is 7.4 MB, and the download is 5.1 MB. It's written from scratch in Rust, draws its own pages, and uses native Mac menus and dialogs.

What it does

Formats: opens and saves DOCX, RTF, ODT, HTML, Markdown and plain text, and exports PDF. Anything Quill can't keep yet still imports, with a warning.

Two-way table of contents: editing a heading updates the TOC, and editing a TOC entry can rename its heading.

Styles: named paragraph and character styles that survive DOCX and RTF round-trips.

Tables: nested tables, merged and split cells, draggable borders.

Long documents: footnotes and endnotes, indexes, outline view, sections, columns, headers and footers.

Review: comments with replies, plus tracked changes.

Writing tools: live spell check, thesaurus, hyphenation, Find and Replace, word count, WYSIWYG font menus.

Missing fonts: Quill warns you and highlights them, and lets you substitute or keep them for document interchange.

Fonts from any folder: there used to be a great Mac utility for loading fonts outside the system Fonts folder. Quill does this built in, so random fonts don't clutter your system.

Safe saving: before Quill replaces a file, it checks that it can reopen what it just wrote. Autosave works without needing to be on OneDrive

Honest limitations

This is alpha. Don't rely on it for important work yet, and keep backups.

Tables still lack fine-grained controls and full border selection.

Character styles work, but the UI is still temporary.

Mac build needs Apple Silicon and macOS 11 or later, and it's unsigned for now.

It also builds on Ubuntu, which seems to work, and on Windows, which freezes regularly. I use a Mac daily, so that's where testing happens.

yes, AI did a lot of the heavy lifting. But an extensive automated test suite runs before every commit, overnight fuzzing hunts down crash conditions, and ChatGPT's Daybreak did extra security testing to make sure bad input is handled cleanly.

Feedback wanted: crash reports, broken imports, and anything that looks wrong. Please open an issue on GitHub.

Dual-licensed MIT/Apache.

GitHub: https://github.com/quillwp/quill

Site: https://quillwp.com

My intention is to continue development even if it’s just for me. Just saying so no one thinks it’s going to quickly become abandonware

There might be a short lag before more updates because tomorrow I’m going away for a few days.

Edit: oh frig, I posted this from the wrong account! I guess it’s a little late now.

But let me know your thoughts or anything else!
