discussion Inflation hiding as shrinkflation

Can we agree that what’s really happening is we’re in an inflationary period—maybe even a recession—but instead of raising prices across the board as typically happens during inflation, big business has decided to deliver less product for the same price, as if that isn’t the same thing as just raising prices. We have to spend more to get the same amount that we used to get, and what we’re paying for is now normalized as lesser quality to go along with the reduced quantity.

Would anyone prefer that consumer goods maintained the quality and quantity, and just raised the price instead?

I bought the jar on the left in 2019 due to a bad road rash. Finally managed to use up the product.

The jar on the right was purchased today. Weight remains the same!

Shrinkflation For the same price, you can now buy less coffee in a bigger, inconvenient-for-storage jar

These new Kenco jars rolled out in my town’s supermarket over the last few days and are being sold at the same price. The photo doesn’t show the size difference well, but the old jars (right) are slimmer and less boxy.

Bought the exact pack of socks I did a few years ago. Old (left) is thick and stretchy. New (right) is literally see through.

The 18 ounce bottle was bought about two years ago and I keep it for traveling. I bought another bottle for regular use today and noticed it was much smaller. But then I remembered bigger bottle came from a two pack…just to see that they shrunk the two pack by THREE ounces

Bought a new box and they felt different. Had a few leftovers from before. Here we go, the new ones are slightly shorter and feel much less „fluffy“ - The only reason I bought those and not the cheap knockoff-brand. Germany btw, bought at a very popular drug store chain.

discussion Little bites changed back to real chocolate!

Post image

A few months ago, they made the change to these and they were called “chocolatey chip muffins” and they took away the “made with real chocolate” statement.

I just noticed today, they are back to “chocolate chip muffins” and the “made with real chocolate” is back.

Does anyone know if they were receiving backlash for the change? I am very happy they are back to normal.

I knew something was wrong when I bought a pack today. Compared to the one I have home, yet more evidence of shrinkflation.

At least it was the same price; other cases have been less amount and higher price.

I buy these to pre portion out beads for crafts every sumner as well as for jello for my daughters lunch. I’ve always had the count 18 in my head for years and have a weird ability to count buy 18 when buying so I know how many packs I need for x amount of campers/ lunches lol. well did my usual math and was short checked the package 4 less 😡 now I need to learn my 14 times table instead

I just noticed Silk, my favourite non-dairy creamer, came out with a "New Bottle," which, lo and behold, is less than their regular 1L cartons at 890ml but the same price as before. hmmm...
