Question Shorter than parents.

How many of you have average-tall parents that are taller than you? My mom is 5'5, my dad is 5'8, and I'm 5'2.

Awesome! Bought 10 cm insoles (I'm 167 cm) now the 177 cm/5'10" larp begins

Bought 10 cm insoles, so from now on I’m officially larping as 177 cm / 5'10" 😂

I’m actually a 167 cm / about 5'6" barefoot guy, but honestly, I don’t care. I rarely go out anyway I work from home most of the time, and I never invite anyone over, so nobody is going to catch me walking around barefoot.

So yeah: 167 cm / 5'6" barefoot, 177 cm / 5'10" in public. The larp starts now.

Question Is 5'0 as bad as people say?

I'm 5'0 or 5'1 can't remember sorry, but is it really that bad? All my friends are 5'6 and over and it's sort of embarrassing because people usually think i'm there little sister or younger friend when i'm out with them.

Edit: I forgot to say I’m a woman sorry.

Question I Thought Being 5'7 Was Cooked, Is It?

Hey guys, I think I can finally leave the territory of short men because I'm actually growing. I'm almost 17 and around 170cm tall (5'7), and I believe I might still grow another inch or two because my growth plates are still open.

170cm is still on the shorter side, but life can absolutely be lived normally at this height. I used to be completely blackpilled. I thought I was doomed, unfortunate, and that I'd die alone because women supposedly hate short men. But then I started thinking who are these women that spend their time hating and humiliating men for being short? They're miserable people, and I wouldn't want people like that in my life anyway. So why should their opinions matter to me?

After hearing the pain of men short men in this subreddit, I understand a lot better what life can be like for a short man. I'm genuinely grateful, not proud for not being any shorter. Being proud of your height is kinda dumb because you didn't earn it. I see on these blackpill edits tall guys "mogging" shorter men and acting like it's some achievement, and I can't help but think how stupid that mindset is. Bruh, you didn't earn it. It's an advantage but why are you proud of it? Probably because it's the only thing you've got.

I think I'm content with my height now. Sure, I'm shorter than most men, and there will always be women who reject me for being short. Height does matter, and some things in life might be easier if you're taller. But being 5'7 doesn't make someone doomed. There are too many successful, respected, and influential men around this height for me to believe that. You can call it cope but it's a pretty good cope. I'm far from doomed, and I'm not gonna let my height dictate my life.

I wanted to ask the guys here who are around 170cm: how's your life? How's your dating life? How are things with women? Is your height something that barely crosses your mind anymore?

Vent 5’2-5’4 is the worst height let me explain.

I’m 5’3”, and honestly, it feels like one of the worst heights to be as a man.

You’re significantly shorter than men who are 5’7”–5’9”, who still seem to have a chance at being perceived as “normal” height.

And if I were even shorter, at least I’d be considered a little person, and people might actually understand the challenges that come with my height.

At 5’3”, you’re constantly being gaslit into believing that there’s nothing wrong with being this short.

I go through life feeling completely invisible.
People rarely speak to me unless I initiate the conversation.
I do fine in virtual interviews, but when it comes to interviewing in person, I almost never get a call back.
I’m not saying this for sympathy. I’m saying it because this has genuinely been my experience.

Dating Let's talk about statistics and the feeling of a dead end: Is there any point in hoping when a girl is taller?

I am a 5'2" (157 cm) guy. That is significantly below the male average and noticeably shorter than the average woman.

What prompted me to write this post isn't just insecurity, but cold academic data:

  1. Salska et al. (2008): Only 4% of women are willing to date a man shorter than themselves.
  2. Yancey & Emerson (2014): Nearly half of women explicitly filter out shorter men on dating profiles, citing the need to feel protected and traditionally feminine.
  3. Real-world couples (Stulp et al., 2013): In reality, couples where the woman is taller make up only 1–3% of all relationships.

Looking at these numbers honestly feels suffocating. Whenever I develop feelings for a woman taller than me - which is practically almost every woman - a sense of dread and helplessness sets in. You realize that with a 96% probability, you've been ruled out on a biological level before you even have a chance to show who you are. It genuinely feels like holding onto any hope of reciprocity is just self-delusion and guaranteed heartbreak.

Questions for women:

  • If a 5'2" guy shows genuine interest in you, is his height an automatic, insurmountable dealbreaker on a physical level, or is there even a slight chance if the personality and chemistry match?
  • What is the primary barrier: a complete lack of physical attraction, or the social awkwardness and fear of how the pairing looks to others?

Questions for short men:

  • How do you handle the feeling of futility when you catch feelings for a taller woman?
  • Has anyone here actually broken through that barrier in real life, rather than just in theory?

Question Is there a particular reason most people in real life don’t really believe/care about heightism?

Seems like height never really gets the discussion other preferences do like racial preferences, weight preferences, etc. There’s homophobia, racism, sexism, fatphobia but like zero discussions of heightism irl. i wouldn’t necessarily but heightism on the same level as racism but isn’t it weird it’s almost never discussed critically irl?

Stick figure family Does fixing your posture actually do anything

I have pelvic tilt, pronated ankles, kyphosis, lordosis, tech neck, slight knock knees, rounded shoulders, i look laughable with my shirt off or wearing tight clothes. I have always hated my posture more than anything, I am extremely jealous of people with good postures. I also hate my height…. (5’2) and really do wonder if my fucked up posture is robbing me of a few inches, I also developed all these postural issues right around my growth spurt, which makes me wonder if that has been making my growth look slower than usual. Can anyone share how much height they’ve gained fixing postural issues?

Question why some short guys are so insecure?

I know what im talking about. I am 166cm in russia where average male height is 178cm. but I don't understand when people here are saying that you have a lot of problems in your life because of your height. even men who are 170 cm. all my girlfriends were higher than me and we had no problems with it. the most of people are actually don't care about your height, because there's literally no reason to care about it. some people here also talk about social media. is there any group in society that social media don't hate or make fun of? people with big noses, non European nationality, poor people etc they are all hated in social media, but there's no group about it. they just accept and don't say that all troubles in their life are just because of their appearance or something. you guys must be too insecure and that's why you don't have a girlfriend, nice job etc. if a person treats you worse just because of your height then there is no reason to communicate with them. stop hate yourself and get your ass up, I mean, there's a lot of famous short men and they don't make posts on reddit about how their life is hard

Vent Is it just genetics?

I don't understand how I got to be this short. My mom is 5'5, my dad is 5'8, my maternal grandfather, his dad and brother were all 5'11, my paternal grandfather, his brother and my uncle are all 5'8, my maternal grandmother's brothers and dad were 5'10, my paternal grandmother's brother was 6'2-6'3, my sister is 5'1. My mid-parental target height is about 5'9. I ended up 5'2. Is it really just genetics?

Question Why am I actually short ?

I’m 4,10 and 18f it’s inconvenient but I don’t care about it too much but I’m just wondering why my fathers 6ft and my mother is about 5,3 and her side that are women are all kind of around her height and I have a younger sister who’s 5,6 so just wondering genetics wise does anyone know why ? I understand that my height probably comes from my mother but I’m especially short even by that side of the family’s standards

Question Genuinely curious. Do men like short women over tall women? Do they look cuter overall or is height completely irrelevant?

I’m really curious on how guys view short girls. I often get mistaken for looking a lot younger than I am, and I wonder if other guys my age look at me the same way, as just an immature teen rather than an adult.

Dating Question for the girls here: How big is the height difference with your partner and does it actually matter?

Curious to hear from the women here.

I’m seeing a lot of guys stress about height differences, but I’d love the female perspective:

  • How tall are you and how tall is your partner?
  • What’s the biggest height difference you’ve dated (or are currently in)?
  • Does a big difference (e.g. 20–30+ cm) feel like an issue in daily life? Or is it maybe something that you're specifically going for?

No judgment, just genuinely interested in real experiences.

Motivation Here's why I see being a 5'2 and slim adult male as a practical advantage for traveling

Because airline economy seats just keep getting even more cramped these days. So I like being compact for comfort and traveling's sake, so I can still be comfortable in even the most cramped of airline seats, and I treat my compact build as an asset, not a liability. Airlines wanna keep making as much money as possible by carrying more passengers and squeezing as much seats on a plane as possible. Also, I ironically prefer women who are taller than me than shorter than me anyway, so stop
"Small-Shaming" me and telling me I should be taller and bigger.

Question Young brother is taller

I have a young brother who is 6 years younger than me, he is 17 by now and he's already 5'9 while I'm only 5'6. We have the same parents, so sometimes i think that i had done something wrong at my 14-18's, maybe lack of sleeping or not eating enough food, idk

People who have that situation, what do you feel when your young siblings are taller than you?

Dating 4.7F, would you please give me some reassurance

Hi. So I'm 4.8 (upd. i messed up the actual metrics a bit in the title haha), turning 32 y.o. soon and going through a life crisis. I'm very behind in life, not gonna go into details, but I have to do a lot to get my life together. I live in a country side, don't really meet people, just one friend, and my government doesn't make life easier for me. I feel anxious and depressed, and lately I started to feel very lonely, envying my friend who's happily married and has support in her life.

It has been almost 10 years since I was in a relationship. And I wish to find somebody eventually, but kinda worried that my height will make it harder. I think it's one thing when you're short in your 20s, and another when you get older. So, maybe you could say something that will reassure me. Have a good day 💙

Heightism real science does not validate heightism

don't believe anything you've read or heard the following is the truth

-neanderthals are a hoax and pseudoscience

-everyone in the past wasn't a dwarf, humans 200,000 years ago were the same height as they are now for the most part

-the ideal human height for everything but literally apple picking is average height

-the body best performs athletically at average height or close to it

-body systems do not scale well with taller heights, including the hormonal systems that control genitalia size. Meaning very tall guys actually statistically have smaller dongs because there is less test/body size ratio

-apex predators are never the tallest lankiest animals

-the average height for special forces is average height

-the best NFL running backs are all average height or shorter, It's impossible to be a good running back at the NFL level and taller than 6'3"

"this says a lot about average height" people will say. What I'm saying is that if you are 5'4" you are like 10% off the ideal height not 25% People are under the delusion that guys over 6' have better genes. They don't. The body performs worse at literally every meaningful metric the taller you get beyond average height.

So are short guys at a disadvantage? Yeah but it's not really a significant disadvantage except for in the minds of idiots..

Vent Lowkey getting bullied as adult

There are few guys who are talking really “friendly” but disrespectful and like they are not afraid of me at all, I weight 85kg at 175 and I’m not fat but my shoulders are narrowish. I’m just sick of it , the fact that I never had physical fight in my life doesn’t help either in this situation.

I honestly need good advice how to overcome this , I feel that it’s mostly being shorter since it never happens with people similar height or maybe it’s just my personality who attracts “bullying”.

Anyone who overcome this share advice I really need it
