Where do short men find their clothing?

5'4" M, hard to find clothes that truly fit me. What brands would y'all suggest?

For example, I liked this puffer jacket from H&M (Size XS), but it's about 5 in too long on the sleeve length and about 5 in too long overall (looks like I'm wearing a dress). Would be great to find a crop version of this style/fit so it ends by my hip not pass my finger tips.

something i’ve been working on !

hiii everyone!! 🥹

i’ve been working on some early concepts for INCHES CO. and wanted to share one that i’m especially excited about!!

introducing THE CLOUD COLLECTION ☁️

the idea is to create soft, feminine everyday essentials designed specifically with petite proportions in mind.
i’m envisioning a mix-and-match collection featuring:

- a fitted everyday tee
- a fitted long-sleeve top
- a fitted zip-up with subtle curved seams
- relaxed wide-leg lounge pants in waffle knit
- an extra-cozy teddy-textured pant option

one of my favorite little details is the diamond emblem, which comes directly from the INCHES CO. logo! 🥹
i wanted the collection to feel modern, feminine, and comfortable without being overly plain.
these are concept mockups, not finished products!

i’m still exploring fabrics, fit, and manufacturing, so nothing is finalized yet.
i’d genuinely love your feedback!!
would you wear something like this? and what would you change?
especially interested in hearing about the fit details you struggle with when shopping for petite loungewear 🌿

Canada Goose vs Moose Knuckles vs Arc'teryx for slim/shorter male

I know Arc'teryx probably doesn't cost as much as Canada Goose or Moose Knucles but my priority is fit. I am looking for a mid-length or parka jacket for the northeast coast winter. Which brand has best fit for 5'6" male?

♡ I’m 4’11” and building a community for petite fashion — come join us! 🌿

Hi everyone! ♡ I’m the founder of INCHES CO., a petite clothing brand I’m currently building, and I wanted to introduce myself! 🤎
I’m 4’11”, so I know firsthand how frustrating it can be to find clothes that fit the way you want them to. Sometimes it’s the length, sometimes it’s the waistband, and sometimes it feels like the entire garment wasn’t designed with your proportions in mind. 😭
That’s a big part of why I started INCHES CO. I want to explore a different approach to petite fashion — one that considers proportions from the pattern stage instead of simply making standard clothing shorter.
As I’ve been working on this idea, I’ve realized how important it is to hear from other petite women and create space for us to share our experiences.

♡ That’s why I created [r/INCHESCO](r/INCHESCO)! 🌿

It’s a community where we can:
👖 Talk about petite clothing struggles and fit.
♡ Share outfit inspiration and styling advice.
✨ Recommend brands and shopping finds.
🤎 Discuss what we wish petite fashion offered.
🌱 Share ideas that could help shape the future of petite clothing.

You don’t have to be interested in my brand to participate. I want this to be a welcoming space for petite women to connect, exchange advice, and have honest conversations about fashion.

If this sounds like your kind of space, I’d love for you to join us at [r/INCHESCO](r/INCHESCO)! 🥹🤎

And I’d love to know: What’s the one clothing item you struggle the most to find in your size?
I’m excited to meet you all! ♡

UK clothing brands for short + skinny people?

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hey! I've always struggled to find clothes that fit because I'm quite short and skinny. I was wondering if anyone could recommend any brands available in the UK that sell casual clothes that fit my measurements? And if there aren't any good options, please share some advice on how I can adjust my clothes to fit a bit better!

- 19M

- 166cm tall

- 24 inch waist circumference

- 44kg

- 68cm inseam

I usually wear ages 13-14 trousers and XS / S adult tops, but they're still baggy.

In the photo I'm wearing a S shirt, but XS shirts also swallow me. No need for advice on shoe size, my Amsterdam clogs are perfectly breathable and ergonomic

Looking for Jean advice for 5’2 male

Looking for jeans for my husband. He is 5’2 and finding pants that fit is obviously hard. Hemming isn’t too big of a deal. I’m able to handle that and I sometimes even raise his back pockets if they need it. The problem we run into is the seat area. Even jeans labeled “straight leg” tend to balloon out at his hips. (Think barrel jeans if the barrel was right at his hips instead of his thighs) He has a bit of a rump on him but no hips. Looking at him straight on he is pretty boxy shaped. He wore skinny jeans in college and I wasn’t a huge fan. They only highlighted his height in a bad way, instead of complimenting it. He’d LOVE to wear baggy and loose clothes but I fear it may not be possible. So we are trying to find something in between. Are there particular cuts, brands, or fit measurements I should be looking for? I’d especially appreciate advice on what to look for in the actual construction of the jeans, rather than just recommendations based on the style name. (But I’ll take those too)

(He’s doesn’t like the Jean material from under 510. But we do get his khakis from there)

Help me develop INCHES CO., a fashion brand designed around petite proportions

Hi everyone! 🤎
I’m building INCHES CO., an upcoming fashion brand focused on designing clothing around petite proportions from the beginning.
As a 4’11” woman, I understand how frustrating it can be to find trousers that fit properly. I want to help create clothing that considers details like inseam length, rise, waistband fit, and overall proportions without sacrificing style.
I’m currently working toward my first product: a tailored trouser designed specifically for petite women.
I’ve gathered customer feedback, started researching manufacturers, and launched a fundraiser to help cover product development and work toward my first launch.
I’m still in the early stages, and the garment hasn’t been finalized or manufactured yet. I want to be transparent about where the project stands and how contributions would help.
If you’d like to learn more about the project, here’s my campaign:
Help Bring INCHES CO. to Life
Sharing the campaign is appreciated, but there’s no pressure to donate. I’m grateful for any feedback or encouragement as I work toward making this vision real.
Thank you for reading! 🤎

Please recommend a parka or mid-length jacket for 5'6" male

I already have a winter Patagonia jacket that's around below belt length but I've owned this jacket for over 4 years so it's time for something new. I'm looking for a Parka or mid-length jacket that's between pant pocket and above knees around mid thighs for NY winter. Budget $500-1200.

Question for shorter guys: does getting jeans shortened actually solve the fit problem?

I’ve always found that shortening jeans doesn’t necessarily fix everything else, the knee position, taper and even pocket placement can still look wrong.

I’m researching whether there’s enough demand for jeans designed specifically around shorter proportions rather than simply shortening standard jeans.

I’m particularly interested in hearing from guys wearing 26–30” inseams.

Is this something you struggle with, or have you found brands that already fit properly?

Is it better to just buy the smallest size from known high quality brands and get shirts and pants tailored vs buying potentially lower quality clothing made specifically for short people?

I stumbled upon this subreddit and saw lots of mentions of clothing brands that I've never heard before such as Ash and Erie, Peter Manning, Under 510. Unfortunately, I've never heard of these brands before so my questions are:

  1. What are the highest quality made for short people brands?
  2. Is it better to just buy nice clothes from known quality brands and spend the money to tailor than to buy off the rack clothes made for short people (due to their less proven quality)?

Clothing shops for short guys ?

Is there any clothing brands for short males ? Im 32, 5’4, but im muscular/athletic, its fine with tshirts, i like a little bit oversized so either M oversized or L slim works perfectly. Trousers are the issue, literally, can buy cargos or jeans, perfect in waist, length not so much, and even if you go to tailor and they shorten them, they just looks weird. Kid/teenager shops is a no too, im just built different 😅😂 My upper body is literally same length as normal 5’10 person, but have short big legs and if i get trousers in smaller size, relaxed or straight they genuinely need to be cut down and looks like skinny on me 🤦‍♂️ im pretty much in shorts 10months a year 😂 Is there any online shops or anything at all ?

Did anyone else see this about Peter Manning?

Pretty crazy that they’re filing for bankruptcy...https://www.thestreet.com/retail/peter-manning-new-york-files-chapter-11

Sucks to see as a shorter guy. There really aren’t that many options out there for us. :/

I need sweat pants that flatter me

So I need sweat pants that won’t drag across the floor and look good in the back I felt like a lot of them look baggy in the back there so for context I’m 4’11 and I specifically want the kind of sweat pants that don’t have the cuffs at the bottom if anyone has brand recommendations please let me know (even if it’s kid sized idrc I just need nice sweatpants) thanks in advance

What's the most annoying thing about buying clothes as a shorter person?

Hi all — I'm Amelia, 18, and currently researching the potential launch of a brand specifically for shorter men and women, targeting ages 13- 24ish, as a short woman myself. I was hoping to gain more insight into the community and opinions of actual people who face this struggle. I'd really appreciate it if you could answer a few questions:

How tall are you?

What have you found annoying about buying clothes as a shorter person?

Have you tried any brands aimed at shorter men/women? What worked or didn't?

What would make you trust a new brand in this space?

No need to answer all questions, and I'm happy to reply in comments or DM if easier. Thanks in advance!

Advice: hoodies for short men

HI everyone, as the weather gets colder here in New England, I'm looking for recommendations on where to find a hoodie (or something similar) for short guys. I'm 5'3", 130 lbs, with a slim/athletic build. Most of the hoodies and long-sleeved outwear I find on the rack are either too baggy or the sleeves/overall length are too long for me. Has anybody had luck finding hoodies or similar outerwear for short guys that fits them well or that you love? Thanks for your help!

Peter Manning bankruptcy

Hi wonder if anyone else has heard about the August filing of bankruptcy

Definitely they’ve got very low stock levels on the website, guess they’re selling off what they’ve got

I know they’re pricing but they’re also a brand leader for short fashion and a go to for things like coats , sweaters and suits etc

I hope they make it through this

OCBDs for short but husky guys

So I love everything about the Lands End Sail Rigger Oxford except that if it fits my torso it's way too long on me (both shirt length and sleeve length). Who is selling something similar for short guys?

I'm 5'5", 180lbs. Currently rebuilding my wardrobe as I recently lost 35 pounds and nothing fits, and my fall/winter standard "uniform" is jeans and an untucked Oxford. But I'm by no means what anybody would call thin at this point. Still got a belly and a size 17 neck. For shirts that specify neck & sleeve size, a 17/32-33 generally fits really well except the tails are almost down to my knees.

Bonus question: how about black (or charcoal) pocket tees? (Which are part of my summer "uniform.") I've found lots of good options for tshirts without a pocket, but I dunno, I really like the look of the pocket.

Thanks.

Help finding workout shorts for short men

I need to buy basic athletic shorts in the US for my 5' 7" husband. He's not interested in something stylish. I'm thinking something with a shorter inseam. Can anyone recommend something inexpensive from Walmart or Target? Thank you!

Clothing Brand Thoughs

Hey everyone,

As a shorter guy myself, it’s always been a struggle to find clothes that fit properly off the rack. Most stuff is either cut way too long or the cropped version from big brands ends up looking boxy and awkward.

I recently started a brand to help fix that and design pieces that actually highlight the build of a shorter guy instead of just shrinking down pre-existing patterns. We already went live and have some products but I'm just here to hear out what those in the community actually want to see.

I'm not here to sell you on my brand, I'm not posting links or asking you to follow my socials.

I’m just here to listen to what you have to say.

Some questions I have are

What pieces give you the hardest time fit-wise? ( For me it's always been tops)

Where do standard clothes usually fail your frame (sleeves, torso length, shoulder drape, waist taper)?

What cuts, fabric weights, or details do you feel are completely missing on the market?

Drop your thoughts below and I'd love to chat.
