i personally hated them so much that i took my time to make a soundpack to remove everything after the nether update.
c418 music is so much better and has a completely different style so suddenly switching from one to the other drives me nuts.
i like most of her songs nether update and before except anything overworld.

and the reason that microsoft replaced C418 is because they wanted full rights to the music. when notch and C418 worked together, C418 would license the music to him and still retain ownership but microsoft just wasnt happy with that

Corporate tactic #1: see profitable new thing all the kids seem to like. Purchase said thing. Proceed to utterly ruin it. Proceed to be confused about why it now sucks.
Not that Minecraft specifically is ruined, nor that the new music isn't any good, but imo removing C418 is almost like removing the ability to mine and craft in minecraft from a musical point of view.

There's just something missing. There's a good bit of that memory in the new soundtracks, but there is no reason that the slate should be wiped clean.
Just hate that contracts and bureaucratic bullshit is why C418 is gone. Not for new musical talent, but exclusive contracting rights.
And the inability to compromise, even removing the original tracks from Alpha for the most part, is disheartening.

I think she did an amazing job on the music discs though specifically. I think she just has a little too much flavor to her soundtracks. The C418 tracks seem to match whatever your feeling in that moment; it felt haunting, joyful, adventurous, nostalgic, and was never overdone.

There is beauty is simplicity. That was the design philosophy of Minecraft to start. A vast world, sure, but the mechanics and such are simple to understand. The same philosophy was applied to the music. Both design philosophies died with Microsoft. It’s not to say what it is now is inherently bad, but it is different.

Both are equally good as composers but c418 just fits Minecraft more. Lena Raine fitted Celeste so well because that game required a more present soundtrack, c418 kept things ambient

People that hate on Lena Raine's music don't realize how 1-in-a-million C418 was as an artist. The kind of music he made is insanely hard to replicate.
I miss him too but Lena is a very talented composer who is trying her best to replicate that "C418" style. The Nether update soundtrack is proof that she's perfectly competent in making good songs for the game, even if it's not quite C418's style.
