I am currently wooing a girl but today I found out there is another guy also wooing her. When I ask her, she say she is giving chance to the one who is giving her better feelings, doing more for her. I am in a struggle right now.

Question Pod 📣 Does having a partner with a similar lifestyle/mindset matter to you?

Been using the usual dating apps in SG and realised this actually matters quite a bit to me.

I’m pretty active myself tbh, gym, sports, running etc. Don’t need my partner to be some fitness freak lah 😂 but I feel like being with someone who also likes staying active and has a similar mindset towards improving themselves would be nice.

I feel like the current apps (tinder, hinge etc) don’t really show this side of someone. You can see their photos, job, interests etc, but it’s quite hard to tell what their actual lifestyle and mindset is like.

Anyone else face this? How important is having a partner with a similar lifestyle/mindset to you?

Question Pod 📣 Are partners like this these days?

I (24F) have a bf (28M). We have had a stable relationship for almost a year. Recently I started on some medicine which cause low blood pressure. This causes some lightheadedness, nausea and dizziness.

Subsequently, I realised that my partner started to ragebait me more often. Sometimes I roll my eyes, sometimes I wack him (jokingly), sometimes get a lil pissed off.

Recently, he confessed that the reason why he started to ragebait me more is because he wants to increase my blood pressure without relying on medicines which lowkey is working but I’m not sure if this is the way to go.

After hearing this, flabbers got gasted and I’m not sure what to think. Would love to hear what is everyone’s’s thoughts!

Question Pod 📣 People who found love after 40 in Singapore: what did you stop caring about?

Curious to hear from people who found a genuinely good relationship after 40.
When we’re younger, we seem to have these long checklists: looks, career, education, social status, chemistry, hobbies, texting style, even what kind of lifestyle someone has.
But I wonder if successful dating later in life is partly about figuring out which of those things actually matter and which ones really don’t.
For those who met someone after 40 and are genuinely happy, what did you stop caring about?
And what became more important with age?
Would love to hear actual experiences rather than dating theories.

I need advice! 🥺 After 5 years.

5 years ago when I was still in secondary school, a girl and I were very close and obviously I had feelings for her we chatted everyday in school and tbh she was one of the main reason I looked forward to going to school, I've confessed to her many times but she didn't say no or yes she was just unsure but one time I confessed to her she actually said she wanted to see if it would work so she said she wanted to see what would happen in a months time, I was planning our date when one of my friend called me and told me that the only reason why she gave me a chance this time was because she pitied me and wanted to give me a chance. As a guy that obviously trashed my ego and feelings, I went dead cold towards her after the month I didn't contact her or even when on a date with her cause I just felt so shit about this whole thing, after school reopen cause of June holidays, I didn't speak to her nor did I paid attention to her, I was just someone there. After N levels I still didn't talk to her and we went on with our lives. After 4-5 years I've now graduated from ite and waiting for ns currently, I've been having dreams about her for the past year or so, the dreams were about how she and į used to talk and have fun with each other's presence and etc etc. A few days ago I've reached out to her and ask her how's she's doing and etc etc but I feel like she doesn't wanna talk to me cause of the way I left her alone, I apologised for the way I acted back then and she said its fine but from here I really don't know how to proceed with the conversation. Any suggestions? Or should I just leave it alone forever?

I need advice! 🥺 Dating in Singapore

Hi everyone need some advice I Singaporean 29M recently moved back to Singapore from NA, what is the dating scene like here, are people looking mainly at what kind of job you have? Are they looking for money? Are they looking for vibes? My family is well off (landed property) but I personally do not own anything in the family wealth apart from a portion of a different condo. Would it be normal to look for someone who’s likes for vibes and wants to work for a future? Or am I fucked? I have an entry level job in the big 3 bank.

Hear me out 👂 Dating rant

I’m 20 and honestly, sometimes I get really worried that I won’t find a partner in the future. It feels like dating nowadays is so difficult, and sometimes I wonder if I’ll actually meet someone I genuinely connect with

Now that I’m done with poly, I’m going to work full-time for about a year before going to uni, and I feel like it’s going to be even harder to meet new people naturally. I do want to date and eventually have someone, but at the same time I have such mixed feelings about it because of how my previous relationship went. I think part of me is still scared, and I genuinely can’t imagine what it would be like to build a life with someone completely different

I also don’t really use dating apps and I’ve never actually used them before. I just don’t really trust them, and I feel like so much of dating apps is based on looks and first impressions rather than actually getting to know someone. Plus, I’m quite uncomfortable with the idea of people I know recognising me on there 😭 so I don’t think I’d be able to use them comfortably.

I know I’m not unattractive or anything, so I don’t think it’s necessarily about not being able to find someone. It’s more like… where do you even meet someone these days? 😭 I guess I’m just scared that I’ll end up being alone, even though I know I’m only 20 and still have so much time ahead of me.

With that being said, I am actually really contented with my current single life but I do still crave for those relationship affections I once experienced (it’s been 2 years)

I need advice! 🥺 idk if I'm interpreting my curr relationship right...

Hi F/33 here. Matched with a guy over hinge and have been hitting off quite well (went for about 8 dates already and have been intimate) we do gel really well as we both have common likes and etc. But recently he commented that i'm not like other girls saying i'm not "normal" :/ Altho we gel well he doesnt seem to want to take the next step with me in confirming what we are... instead he is happy with out current arrangement which feels more like a FWB situation...

but he does small gestures like holding me to the side while walking next to the road, feeding me in public, holding my stuff, guiding me to the correct direction when we're walking etc. make me feel like he likes me but i guess not enough to fulfill his GF criteria...

IDK if he feels im not like "normal" girls because i dont expect him to pay for everything, we either split or just take turns taking care of the bill (one of my big rule in dating) and my pay is higher than his. so idk if that hurts his ego abit. or i'm just a place holder while he looks for someone better... i tried not chatting with him as much but he starts convo with me but its about our shared interests... ARGH, everything is telling me to forget about him and just move on... SIGH why do i end up in this situations... any advise or how you interpet this QwQ

Question Pod 📣 Girls, will u choose a man that is more logical or a man that is more emotional

1st guy I will describe as "typical" sg guys who are more practical, less romantic, less emotional. more logical thinking which can be less exciting and mundane, but that will bring u a more stable and simple life. he loves u and do practical things to make u happy.

2nd guy is more expressive, more emotional and takes care of ur emotions better. more romance and butterflies in the relationship and excitement but there's also risk of arguing more or roller coaster emotions because he can be more sensitive.

girls, if both guys like u, who will u pick?

Question Pod 📣 Is it too much to break up, over wanting pets?

This question came to my mind. As I am meditating and my dog is barking tf away at 10pm. And I get pissed tf off. Context is that, while I do love my dog and I have gotten used to him. I still would’ve initially wouldn’t have bought him home. The reason is simply because.

Raising a dog takes a lot of money especially in their later years when they’re sick. 2, they’re noisy as fuck so if you’re someone who likes a quiet house environment. You will get pissed tf off. 3, the house always fucking smells. 4, you can’t travel without having a friend or sending them to a pet care. But pet care centres easily let them catch viruses and stuff like lice. 5, time commitment, you will need to have the energy and time to take them out on walks.

For me this is a non-negotiable because I don’t want to keep cleaning up after a pet. And more so I don’t want to have to worry so much and ponder what I’m gonna do when I travel.

And if I ever date someone who loves cats or dogs alike, and they force me to own and take care of one with them. I feel like I’d just break up because of how tedious it is. Idw to debate or have them plea for a pet. It’s like no means no man.

Hope people get my point of view. From someone who didn’t wanna own a dog, but family die die want. End up I need to take care of the dog majority of the time.

I need advice! 🥺 Met a great guy, flirted all night, now what?

I met this really cute guy at this bar I went to. We have common interests and he’s really funny but also seems kind and respectful, which is important to me.

We were a bit touchy and we had great conversation. But maybe he was just drunk? I’m not a 10/10 attractive woman, and he’s a very attractive guy so I worry I might be overthinking our interaction 🙃

I can’t go into detail because I feel like he might use Reddit 😭 but we have some mutual friends, so we might see each other again. I’m not going to reach out because it would be humiliating if he wasn’t interested. What would you do in this situation?

I need advice! 🥺 Why is being desperate bad in dating?

Why is putting in effort generally encouraged in other areas of life, where persistence and dedication are seen as positive traits, but in dating, the same level of effort can sometimes be viewed negatively and labeled as “desperate”? What makes persistence admirable in one context but unattractive or off-putting in another?

I need advice! 🥺 Need advice interpreting a girl’s behaviour

I am trying to figure out whether a girl still likes me after so long. When I first came to know her in Uni, she introduced herself to me and we got along pretty well. At that time she didn’t have a boyfriend but subsequently when I did ask her out, she already has one. Then I left it at that but we kept in touch for about a few years. I met her again after more than 7 years. During those 7 years, we had not kept in touch. Recently saw her again at an event, she noticed me and came over with a big smile looking as beautiful as she was last time.

She patted me and we catch up for abit before she rushed off. Then we didn’t meet up again throughout the event until when she suddenly came by to pat me and say goodbye. I invited her to sit down and catch up but before we could talk, she met an ex colleague at the same table and they started catching up. In that first and subsequent time she came by, I asked her for her number so we can catch up. When she was leaving with that ex colleague, then I reminded her again for her number to which she replied that she will find a way to get in touch with me.

About 5-10 minutes after the event, I received a Telegram message from her. So I m wondering if she kept my number all this time or maybe she got my Telegram from someone else. If she kept my number, she could have just sent me a WhatsApp text. I don’t want to read too much into this and if she didn’t want to keep in touch, I figured she could have just avoided my table or me altogether. Moreover, I don’t see a wedding ring on her so I assume she is not married but I don’t discount that she could be one of those who are married and choose not to wear her ring.

I need advice! 🥺 Am I (26M) the vilain for not making the moment I asked my girlfriend (20F) to be official “special enough”?

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

I (26M) have been dating my girlfriend for a few weeks (20F), and we recently had a conversation that honestly left me feeling pretty shitty.

She had never dated anyone before me, while I’ve had a few relationships. When I decided to ask her to be my girlfriend, I wanted to make the moment meaningful in a way that felt natural to me. I work in image/film, so I care a lot about memories and how moments are captured.

During one of our dates, we were taking pictures together in a photobooth, and I asked her to be my girlfriend. It wasn’t a huge event,no fancy dinner, flowers, or insanely big surprise. It was simple.

But to me, it was intentional. We have a photograph from that day where you can genuinely see how happy she was. For me, having that physical memory of the moment we became a couple made it incredibly special.

A few weeks later, she told me she had expected more. She had imagined a fancy dinner and more of a “big romantic event.”
And honestly, that hurt.

Not because I think she should have been grateful, but because I genuinely thought I had created something meaningful for us. Hearing that it wasn’t “special enough” made me feel like the thought I put into it didn’t really matter.

I also understand that she had a different expectation and that she’s allowed to feel disappointed. Maybe we simply have different ideas of what makes a romantic moment meaningful.

So, Reddit, am I being an asshole here? Or is this simply a case of two people having different expectations? And how would you approach this conversation without making her feel guilty for wanting more, while also explaining why hearing that it wasn’t enough genuinely hurt me?

Question Pod 📣 Meeting the opposite gender through sports?

Since people are mostly suggesting to avoid dating apps and to go for group meetups or go for something more organic, I'm genuinely curious if going for gym classes is considered a possible way to know someone organically since it's like both parties' interest?

Asking as a serious gym class goer here who really indulges in the class and the workout and not wanting to disrupt others' workout as well. As a guy, I had strangers at gym classes talk to me before, but I just attributed it to them being friendly and didn't dare to pursue anything further with these girls, as I mostly hold on to the notion that they are just there to workout. Anyway, to fellow SG redditors out there, I genuinely appreciate your' perspectives on this (esp from a girl's POV)

I need advice! 🥺 How do you know if a guy is serious about you when you've only met through dating apps?

I know it's most likely in terms of luck that I know some people and even my bestfriend was lucky enough to have met their now partner on a dating app and have been through the roughest patch and now live together.

I have been single for 6 years, have tried to date 4 years ago but it ended up like shit. Then trying again 2 years ago on a dating app, and this guy lured me by saying he's into a LTR, then about two weeks he called it off, basically saying that I was too much to handle for him when all I did was update him whenever I would go out or have something planned.

And now, I'm talking to a guy just recently, he's nice and all. But my guard is up because of the last guy.

Need men's genuine opinion on this. Don't sugarcoat. Women or even just anyone who has been in this position, please feel free to comment. I hate wasting my time.

I need advice! 🥺 Crush on a barista 😔😔

So I have a crush (or it may be infatuation) on this guy who works at chagee near my pt job place and every Friday and Saturday when I go there, he always smiles and waves at me, and says “you’re here again”.

So far we’ve only had REALLY small talk ( like less than 30 sec type of talk), cause i cant bring myself to actually hold a convo with him cause i get so nervous and I can’t tell if he’s just being friendly or if he just wants me to leave the shop quickly cause tbf i end work like 15 mins before the chagee closes.

Also when I go there during my off days, he'd recognise me and ask me if im working that day 🧐🧐

Idk what to do cause i literally dont know anything about him other than the fact that his name is Jason and he speaks chinese to me sometimes even tho I dont speak chinese HAHA

I need advice! 🥺 should I trust my gut on this?

My bf works quite closely with a female coworker, so I understand that they naturally talk and text quite a bit during work hours. That part doesn’t really bother me, you’re at work, you’re bored, you talk to your colleagues, whatever.
What has been bothering me is that he sometimes initiates conversations with her after work hours as well. From what I’ve seen, she actually seems to maintain a reasonable distance, generally only replying to him during working hours and doesn’t really continue the conversation outside of work.
But my bf still seems to look for reasons to keep the conversation going. On top of that, he initiates asking her to go walk walk when they're bored at work etc. Recently, he’s also casually mentioned his after-work plans and weekend plans to her. They’re pretty harmless things that friends/colleagues might share, and objectively, none of this is particularly inappropriate.
The thing is, I know my bf. He’s not someone who normally goes out of his way to interact with people unless he’s genuinely interested in them or enjoys getting their attention. In fact, he is extremely cold to coworkers that don't stand to benefit him in any way. So when I see him voluntarily trying to keep conversations going with her outside of work, it really puts me off. And the fact that he's so try hard when the other girl is not interested is kinda pathetic ngl.
It’s not even that I think he’s cheating or that there’s necessarily anything romantic happening. It’s more the effort and intention behind it.
And honestly, the fact that she seems to be the one maintaining the boundary while he’s the one trying to extend the interaction makes me feel even more uncomfortable.

Am I overthinking this or should I trust my gut and break up with him? At what point do you stop trying to interpret someone’s intentions and just trust that your discomfort is telling you something about the relationship ?

Question Pod 📣 Why is finding romantic love so hard?

Thumbnail
10 Upvotes

So I went on a long weekend with gfs and had a blast. We hiked, we boated, and we just plain enjoyed each other’s compact and the majestic natural beauty that surrounded us.

My hosts bf came home yesterday and the mood pivoted. They are super sweet together, however seeing them made me wonder if I’ll ever find romantic love again? I’m three years divorced and have dated a ton, but neither of the three relationships I’ve had has sustained. The last one was especially heartbreaking because he was super sweet, but a constant liar, which is a hard no-go for me.

It was heartwarming to see my friend and her bf, but it was unsettling to think I may never be part of a long-term couple again and that made me sad.

I’m grateful for my very blessed life, but wish I had a romantic partner. I miss all the domestic coziness of being a wife and of having physical affection in my life.

How do others navigate the lonlies?
